Another great video Ben, it's great seeing people advance through their training. Looks like you have sunshine every time you fly down there!! I'm doing EASA PPL and went solo today so the first big milestone has been passed. Enjoying the journey.
Huge Congratulations on your solo. Isn’t it the best feeling? Well I’m lucky enough to be flexible with when I fly so usually am able to pick the nice days!
Hi Ben, Great video. I'm 3 hours into learning with David. Particularly liked that you included the full join to landing at Kemble in this video. Very useful to help understand that process and all the radio calls etc.
Hi Ben, really enjoying yours and Rorys videos, you are jointly responsible for tipping me over into signing up to train for my NPPL as I went through a lengthy 'should I / shouldn't I' period of procrastination, I'm training with James Walker of Attitude Airsports at Rossall field up in West Lancashire, you will remember him from Rorys revalidation video in the Eurofox a few months back, and for the benefit of your northern followers who are thinking of training or just for a flight experience, give James a look. Keep up the great work with the videos, I particularly like how you highlight where you make mistakes then put them right, humility and confidence are far better than editing out the errors. Looking forward to watching your GST for when you go for it.
John Kilroy - hey John, yeh I follow Attitude on insta. Some lovey aircraft and James really seems to know he’s doing. Well done for taking the plunge...though good to think of every lesson as an experience and regardless of whether you go and get the licence it’s still a great thing to do. Best of luck with training and thanks for watching the videos!
The flying Gods are teasing me today. I’m on holiday in Malta and a C42 flew over my hotel this morning. Then you and Rory posted brilliant videos for me to enjoy. My next flying lesson isn’t for 2 weeks, that’s just ages :(
Awesome video again Ben thank you, fantastic news you'll be recording your GST. Hoping to go cross country soon, your content is helping me so much. Cheers mate, Steve
Great video Ben. It’s good you will be allowed to film your GST as will give other students, like me, a good idea of what will be involved. Long way off for me though as I have only just started my training. Your videos have been amazing to watch and I have really enjoyed following your progress 👍
Great video. I noticed on final you commented about your airspeed and said “75”. You then started to quickly loose airspeed, realised you did then made up for it by applying more power. I lost too much airspeed last week and decided to go around.
Yeh more so than being an airspeed if any particular interest it’s more of me just trying to commentate a bit through the landing phase. For a short field landing id be aiming at 65mph on the ASI on final and that drops to 50mph and below in the round out and hold off phase!
Well done Ben, another great video, I think you do very well to concentrate on your flying and also doing a running commentary at the same time. Although I do have one question, previously you were practicing to do a short field landing (over the trees) for Clench common and on your second attempt you decided to use only one stage of flap, why did you do that as a SkyRanger's flaps are very shallow to start with. I fly a SkyRanger and always use full flaps for short field as it enables a slower approach. I bet you can't wait for your GST it's the best feeling in the world when your instructor says you have passed. I don't think you will have any trouble there. Thanks again for the great video 👍🏻.
Hey Ian! Thanks for commenting. Yeh I’m not great at commentating and flying together just yet. My next video proves that !! Haha. But I’ll add in some post production voice over work. Great question, I was actually thinking of not worrying about having to take the second stage off after landing but you’re absolutely spot on really - I should’ve certainly used full flap for a short field landing. And probably could’ve done with using a side slip in the practice stage too. But all lessons learned of course!
Ben Atkinson Hi Ben, I wasn't criticising you for commenting whilst flying, I meant you did a great job doing this ie letting watchers know what you are doing and thinking while you are flying. Thank you for your reply, your videos will help other students along with their training as you are providing great views of inside and outside the cockpit 👍🏻
Ah thanks Ian! No no I understood - I jus wanted to explain I’m not at the point I want to be quite yet with the commentating stuff but it’ll come with time and honestly, great comments like yours really help with the production! Do keep watching 👍
Well done mate, you have converted me from going for my Easa PPL to Nppl I am 20hrs in so should be able to credit some hours over. My class 2 med doesn't allow me to to fly at night (colour blind) and only one of my 5 daughters like flying GA aircraft so it makes sense . I will be booking lessons at Redlands in Swindon as that's the closest to me from Windsor so our paths may cross one day😁. Keep up the great videos.
Alan Duxbury Hi, sorry to but in, cracking to hear your switching to NPPL(M) - apart from being a bit lighter and more delicate to fly and some more weather considerations, in teal terms there's lots of advantages. As a heads up, I've heard Redlands is closing, not sure if the flying school is relocating? You may want to look at Membury, they fly C42 Ikarus' too. Don't take my word for it, please do check with your instructors at Redlands.
@@davidsmeaton3082 thanks for the info only spoke to them 2 weeks ago and they didn't mention that, once I've got my licence I plan to fly from White Waltham 10 min drive for me, I be in contact with your recommendation 👍
Alan Duxbury , it was nothing official from the school there, it was a post on the GA General group on Facebook where someone was promoting a fly in for microlights on the 24th July and that post said it was closing the end of September for a housing development. The school may have found a new home, I have no idea on that.
Nice one Ben, sounds like you're ahead of the curve - excellent! Good of you and your examiner to film the GST too. Good luck with everything! BTW, you mentioned Enstone (QFE/QNH?), how does that relate to Clench Common/Swindon?
Well hopefully! Fingers crossed. Thanks again for commenting. So the QFE shows height above the airfield - so essentially it’s your height above sea level minus the elevation of any given air field. Kemble is about 430ft above sea level and I think Clench is about 600ft. From memory!
Ben Atkinson Thanks! Keep up the good work, I'm learning lots. I was just pondering how Clench and Kemble related to your comment about Enstone? Sounds like you're really enjoying your flying now, I'm pleased for you, very rewarding.

Hey Steve! Awesome keep it up! Thanks and yeh just hope it goes well haha
Nicely done as usual Ben. Nailed the height on that overhead join. Looking forward to seeing your GST too.

Really enjoyed that trip. I can see the joy you are getting from just being in the air.
Nice job and well done on the 500. I'm pencilled in to fly up to Kemble on the afternoon of the 9th August.
Ah thanks Chris! Excellent. Who with?

Thanks! Yeh I just have the human performance one to do now.

Redlands airfield closes for good in September this year. You could look at Clench Common, GS Aviation, as that is not much further.

Nice video. How many hours have you got so far?...
Thanks!
22 hours in the sky ranger and 3 hours in the eurostar. 2 hours more of solo before I can take GST.
Don't you have to do a 150 mile cross country nav ex with stops at 2 different airports ?
Hey thanks for wathching! No, this is an NPPL licence so nav ex flights are a minimum of 40nm.
