In California, you pay a small deposit which you get back when you turn in the specially marked bottles and cans. I've made back several hundred dollars that would otherwise have been spent. Thanks for the Millie shots! What the world needs is more of Millie's simple joy and enthusiasm for the garden hose. That and an occasional sandwich. Your eyes are as beautiful as ever; I can't see any wrinkles. And if you had my lousy eyesight, you wouldn't see them either.
Millie is such a little teeny tiny puppy dog. You said she's old but she still got jumping ability 👍🏻
When you said, "I'm getting real old looking," I was waiting for Alex to come back with, "Yeah, but your eyesight is damn near perfect!" lol! 🤣🤣🤣
Here in Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 we get 10 cents back for each bottle or can .
Same here in Michigan
Nothing Standard Premium about this year's Vlogmas - it's Platinum all the way!!🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Also Millie!!!!!😍😍🎄🎄🎄
Relationship goals:
Clare and Alex = standard premium! (and we're all jealous)
Decades ago, we used to have deposits on bottles that we'd get back when we returned the empties. Nowadays my trash pickup only recycles paper and plastics, but I can drop off glass at my town's public works department for recycling. Good call on not taking Millie through the car wash. I took our family dog one time, and while she stayed fairly calm, I could see her trembling, poor thing. Also, It was counter-productive, because while the outside was clean, the inside was full of dog hair (she would shed when stressed) and nose prints on the windows. LOL.
Cue Rose Royce's song "Car Wash".
Millie, what a sweetheart. More dog please.
This video was standard premium.
returning the bottles has always been my job.
Too funny. Our recycling is part of our monthly garbage fee. We get a separate colored bin and when filled, it goes out along side the traditional garbage. Totally get the waiting to put out. No judgement here. I am surprised about your discomfort going through the car wash. That is what I enjoy doing--love the different steps going through the auto process. BTW, if the neighbor does not know what the vendor did, guarantee it will happen again. Not a smack on the neighbor--just correcting the person they hired.
We have recycling bins, you’re just not allowed to put glass in your house bins. 🤷🏻♀️ hopefully their driveway is clean enough for the time being 😂
Tis the season for a Millie Burrito!! Happy Vlogmas! 🍻⛄
Millie is sweet! Here in my neighborhood, I used to separate the recyclables from the regular trash. . .until I noticed the trash man dumping the recyclables in with the regular garbage.
We have heavy trash, garbage, and recycling picked up. Not every state or even town does it the same. Rural areas drop off, have no heavy pick up. That's why you see old washers on yards.
Cities have pick up or it would never be moved.
Suburbs set up local plans and do pick up or contract companies to pick up.
We recycle here in Oz, can's and bottle's, and we get 10 cent per item
"Standard Premium" -- the "jumbo shrimp" of washes. And maybe the "Christ " was because they thought people saying it after wondering what all those fiddly-bits do meant they were invoking Someone. 😄
It’s ok, Clare, car washes freak me out a little too. The ones here in America are fully indoors in the tiniest hallway and you can’t see the opening at the end until you’re right there and there’s like a million of those weird fabric hangy things that spin.
look at that pup
Here in Ontario, Canada, you can return your empties for a bit of cash.
This may be the only place on the entire internet where I will admit that I literally just today returned all the beer cans I had been accumulating over the last several months. It's 10 cents a can, and ended up with $73.60. So yeah, that's a fair few cans to rinse and crush.
To that end, as someone who enjoys a nice lager after a hard day in a trade (automotive detail technician): Alex dear, for the love of all that is holy, find a good detailer! The car wash is terrible for the finish on your car. An outside wash by a detailer is done mindfully and with care, and even just a quick inside (wipe down the vinyl bits, clean the windows, vacuum) is worth it's weight in gold (and resale value).
I saw a graphic yesterday where they overlayed where the latitudes of North America and Europe would place each in comparison. I was well surprised to learn that would put both Ireland and the UK inside of Canada, otherwise known here in the States as The Great Frozen North. That explains a lot about the weather you have to endure, Clare, when you top that off with living on an island.
Oh the dog at the carwash would've been the cherry on top!!!!
Here in Minnesota Premium has a special undercarriage spray. Due to the snow and ice the roads have lots of salt on them, and salt rusts out the bottom of the cars. So once a month (depends on how much you drive honestly) you get a car wash and get the undercarriage cleared off.
I always hate it when the glass breaks everytime you drop the glass bottles into the box.
I think for special premium the mops actually touch the car. Also my dog loves the car wash.
Yaaaaay Millie!!!!! OMG OMG OMG! LOL! She's sooooo cuuuuute! You mentioned having wrinkles, they add character and some say sexiness...so don't fret them. Here in the US some states have deposit recycling. Michigan (where I am) is one of them. There is a 10 cent deposit (one US dollar is 100 cents, so ten 10 cent deposits is one dollar,) for every metal can, and plastic or glass bottle that is beer or soda. Oddly, the same material can be for other drinks such as protein shakes but because they don't fall under the law as being a "beverage" there is not a deposit for them. This makes for a weird thing where if I bought a Monster Energy Drink there is a deposit, but a Monster Protein Shake doesn't have one...even though they use the same can. 😵💫 Thanx for recycling! Sláinte!
Love seeing sweet Millie 😘😘 The dot of grey on each side of her mouth is so cute 🥰 Here we have recycle bins with the regular trash bins. Although I used to take all my cans and I'd get paid. I'm with you Clare, i get uncomfortable in the car washes. Mostly when its completely covered with the foam😲 LoL I thought Alex was saying Clare the car was scared 🤣😂 You have beautiful skin Clare. I screwed up by not wearing sunscreen all the time and now I have the dark marks on the side of my face😭
Just moved into our new house and Bord Na Mona provide a bottle bin now too! it's such a lifesaver!
i feel you on the wrinkles, i’m 29 and seeing them too! a moisturizer with retinol in it helps a lot!! 😉💖
also wow i’m glad our recycling picks up glass items bc i’m way too lazy to have to bring them somewhere lol
Always great to see Millie! The bottles you recycled are nothing compared to what I see in the bins in front of my neighbor's houses on collection day, I don't think anbody on my street has a healthy liver. Anyhoo, Happy Standard Premium Vlogmas and remember, a clean Clare is a happy Clare.
0:58 You triggered the memory of the director of University College, Cork telling our class "Cahrk isn't the type of cahrk ye'd faind in the tohp of a bohttle..."
Lucky Thirteen 😂
Glad to see Millie 🐕
I would love to be old like you young lady. I haven’t been young like you for longer than you have been alive. lol 😂
The state college near me, used to collect glass bottles. That was until covid, now though they have trouble keeping staff and I moved to a smaller place. No I don't have any place to store the bottles.
Clare, you're looking fantastic, nowhere near 39!! 😀 Millie may be getting older, but she's got the spring of a puppy!!
Cheers, glad you enjoyed the pasta and popcorn 🍿 🍝
Not sure if that’s a joke or not but I’m 34
my whole life is standard premium.
It’s the lovely Miss Clisare! 👋
Clisare you not getting older your getting better with age. Also looking forward to your movie stardom, all the best to you and yours.
Sweet Millie, she’s so cute ❤ You look very young, Moisturizer! Use something until you get your favorite brand, anything is better than nothing. Love vlogmas ❤
I didn't think you drank all those in 15 minutes!
😆
Love her little goatee
Old age runs us *all* down from behind....
No deposit in Ireland? As a kid growing up in Oregon, collecting cans/bottles for deposit cash in paid about as well as a paper route or lawn mowing gig. My daughter's softball team when she was in high school did a fundraiser walking through neighborhoods near the school knocking on doors asking for can donations. We brought in several hundred dollars on that drive. Some houses even said something along the lines of "we save our cans up for door to door fundraisers like this but nobody has been by in a while and the garage us stuffed!"
I ❤Alex!!!
Here in Texas we put all of our recycling in a big bin and the truck comes around every two weeks to pick it all up. No deposits or anything like that.
Millie. ❤
Yay Milli! She's so cuuuute. And I'm totally with you, car washes are a little uncomfortable feeling. Not scary, just... a little on the edge. (Getting caught up on vlogmas so apologies in advance for comment spam :3)
Great job on the video Clare! Thanks for making it.
Where I live (S.F. Bay Area) we have curbside recycling. We put bottles, cans, paper, and many plastics in a bin at the curb on the same day as trash collection. We also have curbside green collection, where we put plant clippings and food waste in a different bin. The company that collects it turns it into compost, which they make available for free for people's gardens.
If Millie likes the hose, how would she feel about the car wash?
When I lived in California we could return our cans and glass bottles for cash back. I’m in Minnesota now and they don’t give cash back for recycling which is a bummer lol but the apartment complex I’m in has a recycling chute for all of it so I am at the very least still recycling. Just not making any money from it lol.
cool
Yay recycling!
In Ontario Canada, a deposit is paid at purchase for beer and liquor. This deposit is refunded when the bottles and cans are brought to the "Beer Store".
For all other glass and metal containers, they are picked up by the municipality on garbage day to be sold to scrap dealers.
I feel like I remember Australia doing a similar thing? Unsure
Clare within a Clare. It's a Clareception.
'Loved this!
TEAM MILLIE! 💖🐾🐕
Hello Millie! I wish we did recycling here but they don't.
Wait, at all??
Where we live we drop the bottles and cans at the recycling depot with a tag on it and they put money into your bank account.
Oh that’s quite cool
Fascinating!
My favorite part of the car wash is the blue pads waving at you as you kiss your money for standard premium goodbye.
We wear water resistant insulated gloves.... otherwise very similar
Another lovely vlog 🙂 thanks!
Dogs getting older is so bittersweet. I’m personally in complete denial that my puppy is getting older and take personal offense at his vets calling him a “senior dog.”
Is there a Substandard Premium option? Perhaps where only half of the car gets washed? Don't worry about what others say about your alcohol consumption. That information is strictly between you, Alex and your livers.😁😁😁
Substandard premium 😂😂😂😂😂
"My hands are very cold."
I've got wind burn on the back of my hands. My skin breaks easily and blood leaks out.
I literally don't understand car washes. I clean and vacuum the INSIDE of the car and have been told: 'My HOUSE isn't this neat!'
(I may just have to get new friends.) The OUTSIDE is where the dirt is.
The whiteness on Millie's face reminds me of my black Chihuahua. He's going on 13 now and was pure black, and now at _least_ half of his face is white and he has a white streak going clear up his tail.
As for recycling, here specifically in Philly, we have a white version of our garbage trucks that comes around on trash day and picks up the recycling from the bins people leave outside. (Usually blue, but can be anything with "recycle" written on it.)
And a catchphrase was born….”That’s Standard Premium”
I LOVE your Tea Rex mug! I have one too, though a different design. But we still match 🦖. I’d send a pic but I’m not very versed in RUclips comments and attachments 😂
"Standard Premium" seems a bit of a contradiction to me. Screw'em if people think that was a lot of bottles, small amount for a week if you ask me. Hell at a minimum I have 2 beers a day one before and one after a meal, is good for your gut. Silly Miss Millie, not sure why Alex was out in the cold hosing something down burrrr. Have a good day, scritches for Miss Millie.
Who is more frightened by car washes, 🐘🐸 Elephants or Frogs ?
Did you fix the radiator yet? How about the water damage if any? Thanks for another video.
We got it fixed to the wall again but we haven’t yet gotten the roof fixed due to availablity of our guy. He doesn’t seem too concerned though, on the bright side!
@@Clisare Good deal. Just keep a lookout for any leaks in the roof until he can get to you.
Hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha
I'm absolutely shocked, shocked that drinking in Ireland is going on , here in new york we pay a bottle deposit of 5 cents on most beverages , we then turn them in and get our money back , one year I went around our city of Rome and collected returnable bottles and cans , I made 5k and bought a truck and expanded my business into a commodities broker and made 100k and bought an apt complex, im currently taking it easy watching RUclips , millie is the sweetest, im over 20yrs older than you, let's just say Alex is lucky to have you
Wow, you cleaned up!
@@LindaC616 alot of hard work , 7 yrs without a break but i had support from my family and friends the whole city knows me now , and I always make room in my new apt complex for friends and especially family
Phil that's awesome!
I am on the coast in Rhode Island, and we are being displaced due to people wanting to rent as airbnbs and not a full year's lease. The year leases that are available are over 2,000+ a month for a two bedroom. I bought a place last year, because my building was being sold, and I was in a pinch, and decided that I would never do that again. 4 months later, unexpectedly I lost my job. People have told me to sell the place and move, but there is a crisis everywhere, and even though I know I can get more money for it now that I paid for it, I'm going to tough it out and wait until I'm ready to retire for my last move.
Good on you for being part of the solution!
@@LindaC616 what helped me mainly was doing 20yrs in the usaf and getting a pension for the rest of my life starting at the age of 39 , I don't recommend the military for everyone but my father is 20yr naval veteran so I get it , it just happened my last assignment was in upstate new york, so it's all about location, and whatever happens in the economy I have that golden parachute, I did have the threat of death though 24 7 365 20yrs in a row while I served, in a way it was worth it
Phil my dad was a veteran (Korea), wounded. My niece's husband was a pilot, did 4 tours. Out now, flying commercial
standard premium is what it is
Standard Premium oddly describes my work quality quite well
🤣
I don't like car washes either.
Alex going for standard premium for Clare, what level does he pick when it comes to things for other Clare?
Basic bitch level 😂😂😂
What’s recycling? Is it pedaling backwards on a bicycle?
Don't mean to brag, but I have curbside recycling pickup and don't have to separate anything, everything goes in one giant bin.
The future is now
Weeks?
Amateurs at best. I could fill the bin in 3 days. My mother is proud, I tell ya.
Scared of a car wash?? Sounds like a new video episode.
Ok Question ? Why the scarf and touque and heavy sweater inside ?
Cause I’m cold!
😅doesn’t Ireland have a bottle depot to get some money back for your return?
Not that *I* am aware of
Looked more like “Premium Standard” to me. 😅
Alex like Clare nice and shiny.
You definitely don't look old
Very conscientious with the recycling...but I'm not buying that it's weeks worth. What kind of Irish folk are you? LOL
We drink in the pub 90% of the time 😂
Hello U . Try rose oil that’s on Amazon. I do it’s great for my skin. And no u look great. Hold aleX .
Oh thank you I’ll try that!
"Christ" has touched you because you paid for Standard Premium.
Who really cares if you were having to recycle bottles weekly or whathaveyou? Life sucks and inebriants make it better!
Juuuuust in case, you wouldn’t believe the criticism you can get online for the most minute things 😂
@@Clisare Ahh, well, fairplay to ya. Just know that I ain't judging 👍🏻

@clisaire Maybe you could give "Meaningful Beauty" a try; it's worked wonders for me. (44yrs old) 💜
Pffft. I know what I would do with such neighbour's. Sunday morning 6am. Starting my second car - which probably wakes up the whole street. That's how loud it is. "Sorry guys! I need to get my coffee and breakfast." 😂😂
Wouldn't that be standard premium treatment? 👀😂
