  • This is an follow-on from (Samsung A+++ Series 5+ Heat Pump Tumble Dryer with OptimalDry DV90T5240AE 9kg: • Samsung A+++ Series 5+... )
    There was some question about energy consumption.
    This is where I demonstrate the energy consumption of this Samsung Heat Pump Dryer.
    UPDATE: on Mix load of 3 hours run.
    Using my new Smart meter I worked out in first 5min it was fluctuating between 24w to 97w. After next 15min it fluctuated between 400w to 455w and there after I couldn't keep staring at the smart meter.

    This dryer have moisture detector, initial drying hour/time can be less than actual drying time. A full max capacity for mixed load, max dry (level 3) can take 3 - 3 1/2 hours. Low electricity consumption is real! bcs its different tech from convenrional dryer. I have this dryer for few months.

    Your test would work out at 16p for that load on my electricity.

    The heat pump dryer I have bought takes 3.5 hours to dry. My older dryer took only 30 mins. So I would guess the older dryer probably cost less or the same .

      Running the old appliance for 30 minutes could easily cost more than running the heat pump dryer for 3.5 hours.

    Thank you for posting…… Do you have any condensation issues with it being in that confined space? It looks as though it’s in the cupboard under the stairs.

      I have had no issues being where it is.

      No because it's a heat pump - no water vapour comes out of the machine. The water condenses into a tank in the top of the machine

    • @sbomorse
      @sbomorse 2 года назад +1

      There shouldn't be any moisture coming out - heat pumps don't release the warm moist air into the surroundings unlike standard condenser dryers; the hot humid air is reused in the heat pump process.

    Looking to buy a Samsung heat pump with electricity going up so much, that's really impressive, is it still working fine now after a year ?
    My vented tumble dryer uses 2500 watts constantly

      Hi. We use it daily due to large family. Been fine so far. I now have electricity smart meter. When i get time i can check how much electricity does it use.

      @@UsedReviews that's great to hear, we also do at least 2 loads per day,I think I'm going to order the same model.
      How often do you clean the heat exchanger/condenser inside the flap at bottom ?

    • @UsedReviews
      @UsedReviews  Год назад

      I clean it as of when I remember or when the machine indicates it. It doesn't get that dirty. I keep misplacing the brush it come with. Lol

    3 hrs to dry clothes? My regular drier does it in 40 minutes.. so unless it uses 1/3 the energy I’m not sure this would be a wise purchase.. and that’s leaving out he terrible reliability these hav.

      We have this dryer for more than a year now and it takes 2 hours max to dry a mixed load. Line drying definitely is the most energy-efficient method lol but you have to factor in the rain, the time you’re available to do your laundry like if it’s during the night (I don’t think your laundry will dry for just 2-3 hours), plus convenience.
