Every track in that album is a masterpiece! My fav song is misunderstood! This is a very under rated album that does not get enough credit all because Vince Neil isn’t on it! Saints of Los Angeles is them going back to their roots and focusing on rock n roll! Is it a perfect album, no but it has some good songs on it! The only album I didn’t like are Theater of Pain! I really respect your take on Dr. Feelgood. I’m very much a fan of their late 80s stuff (GGG, Feelgood, etc) but at the same time, I’ve always had a pretty strong love-hate relationship with Dr. Feelgood. “Gross“ is exactly the right word and I’m really glad you said that, because my biggest problem with the album is that it is just too goddamn horny. Rock songs about sex are nothing new, but oh my God I cannot listen to Vince Neil talk about himself like that for an entire album. The production, despite being heralded as their best, does also bother me. The guitar tones are at once jaw droppingly incredible and kind of shrill. The drums are so heavily processed, and the sample replacement is so prevalent that it hardly feels like a single drum set, just percussive noises in space. I think it’s quite telling that the 5.1 surround sound remixes on their DVD sound a lot better, with the doublings and reverb dramatically reduced, and the production just overall more simple. As a huge fan of Mick Mars, I do have to commend the album for its musicality. Mick hit his peak on that album, and I just wish it was underscoring better lyrical material. That’s one of the main reasons that Girls Girls Girls is actually my favorite Crue album, and I’m really happy you mentioned Dancing On Glass because that is possibly my favorite off it. Obviously, in the grand scheme of things, these guys are nothing resembling poetic, but there’s just something about the writing on that album. Personally, I think my ideal album from them would be the writing from Girls Girls Girls, The energy and variety of Too Fast For Love, and the musicianship of Dr. Feelgood. With all that being said, I highly recommend checking out Angela from their 1990 compilation album. Possibly their most underrated song, and honestly, attempting to take all aspects into consideration objectively, possibly their single best song. It hits nearly every point I just listed, in my opinion. Regardless, great review!

Shout at the Devil hits pretty hard and was absolutely massive among hard rocking teens of the 80's. Its very consistent. Theater of Pain was a little disappointing after counting the minutes for the Shout follow up. There are some great lyrics on Girls and a few really fun songs, overall I would put it next to Feel Good. The John Corabi album has some their best stuff but only about half the album. Its interesting hearing about Motley from someone who didn't live it in real time. I thought Generation Swine was absolutely worthless!

I'm not a fan of the band, but I like the first two albums -- I think everyone pretty much does, and yes, I never thought of Too Fast for Lovea s "the underdog" or anything. I've never listened to a full album beyond the first two, but heard plenty of the singles and all that -- including that lead single from Generation Swine, which came out when i was 16 or 17. You know, the self-titled album seems to ahve a pretty vocal contingent of fans out there. They almost convinced me taht this was something really different and cool and "more serious" and I was thinking of checking it out based on that supposed "difference". I still might, but I'm not in a rush...and you certainly don't make it sound very appealing here with talk of buttrock and whatnot. haha

I'm a new fan of Motley Crue, and I will go ahead and share my rankings with you. Just note, my opinions are WAY different than yours, so I hope you're ready:
#9: Generation Swine- 1997 (Easily Motley Crue's worst album. This is one of the worst albums I've ever heard in my life. Aside from Let Us Prey and Afraid, this album completely sucks!!)
#8: Motley Crue- 1994 (I don't hate this album at all, I just think it's kinda mediocre. John Corabi is a fine singer, and I like songs like Poison Apples, Smoke the Sky, Hooligans Holiday, Misunderstood, Driftaway, and Til Death Do Us Part. Overall, a pretty decent album if you ask me).
#7: Saints of Los Angeles- 2008 (Copy and paste literally everything I said about the self titled album, but because Vince Neil is back on vocals, this ranks higher. I love songs like the title track, MF of the Year, Just Another Psycho, White Trash Circus, and Face Down in the Dirt. Another decent album, but the fact that Vince is back on vocals is the reason why I like this album more than the self titled).
#6: New Tattoo- 2000 (From here on out, these albums are really good. This record makes a valiant effort to bring back their iconic 80s sound, and I think they did a good job. My favorite tracks are Hell on High Heels, Punched in the Teeth by Love, the title track, and Dragstrip Superstar).
#5: Too Fast for Love- 1981 (My least favorite album from their 80s period, but I still really love this album. I love the raw and rebellious tone of this record, and I love songs like Take Me to the Top, Piece of Your Action, Live Wire, and especially the title track. Killer debut album in my opinion).
#4: Theater of Pain- 1985 (Another killer album in my opinion. I like the balance between their rebellious side and their more mainstream side. I love songs like Home Sweet Home, Smokin in the Boys Room, City Boy Blues, Louder Than Hell, and Fight for Your Rights).
#3: Dr. Feelgood- 1989 (I'm afraid that I REALLY disagree with your take on this album. This is where Motley Crue peaked in my opinion. So many great performances and killer tracks. The title track, Kickstart My Heart, Same Ol' Situation, Don't Go Away Mad, Slice of Your Pie, and Without You are all my favorites from this album. Slice of Your Pie in particular has my favorite Mick Mars guitar solo, and one of the best guitar solos I have ever heard. I respect your opinion as always, but I don't think Dr. Feelgood is an overrated album at all).
#2: Girls Girls Girls- 1987 (What a freaking album!! This is a flawless album to me. Wild Side, the title track, Dancing on Glass, Five Years Dead, Sumthin for Nuthin, and especially You're All I Need, which is a top 5 Motley Crue song for me. What a masterpiece!!)
#1: Shout At the Devil- 1983 (Another flawless album. I only put this one higher due to my familarity with it and the completely unnecessary live cut of Jailhouse Rock on the Girls Girls Girls album. Needless to say, Shout at the Devil rules!! I would list my favorite tracks, but every song is top notch. The title track in particular is my favorite Motley Crue song. Another masterpiece!!).
Hope you like my rankings!! Sorry for the late reveal lol

    My favorite Motley Crue albums
    1. Too Fat For Love
    2. Shout At the Devil
    3. New Tatoo
    4. Theater of Pain
    5. Dr Feelgood
    6. Saints of Los Angeles
    7. Generation Swine
    8. Motley Crue ( if you like this, stop talking shit about Nickleback. Got to credit this though as it might have been the first official Post Grunge album)
    9. Girls, Girls, Girls ( even though I really like Wildside , a Jailhouse Rock cover and another track featuring Honky tonk piano is bad enough to destroy what few decent songs are included)

Dude you are so wrong about the corabi album. You sound so butt hurt for some reason. That album smoked anything and everything that was released at that time. I can’t stand grunge at all. I saw that tour and there was only about 7-8 thousand people there but they fuckin brought it. Sounded amazing.Motley has always been that band that keeps changing. I’ve been a fan since the beginning. They’re not like AC/DC and just keep doing the same thing. They don’t give a fuck and they take chances. I’ll admit I don’t like theater of pain that much and only like a few tunes of generation swine but good for them for having the balls to try something different. Any who I’m a forever fan and it’s only rock n roll but I like it

Been a Mötley Crüe fan since I was 13, I’m 26 now. My personal favorite order would be
    1. Too Fast For Love
    2. Shout At The Devil
    3. Theatre of Pain
    4.Dr Feelgood
    5. Girls Girls Girls
    6. Mötley Crüe
    7. Saints of LA
    8. New Tattoo
    9. Swine 🤢 🤮
Honestly think the self titled album is severely underrated, John Corabi was actually a great addition to the band. Wish they would’ve kept him around or in the band playing guitar and back vocals, god knows Vince needs the help. Wish things didn’t end so sour with him, was one of their best records and could’ve been a step in the right direction for their careers and for the way music was going at the time

Yea obviously u never LISTENED to the Corabi 94 Crue record cuz it is one of the strongest albums period!!how.can u deny how much better the band band sounds on this particular record!!Tommy Lee NEVER sounded as good as he does on this one,as well as Mick Mars!!even NIKKI SIXX kinda tried to play bass on this one and CORABI is so much more talented then NEIL,Idk man, each to their own but most people couldnt handle it mostly cuz it wasn't the original lineup, but when u hear people talk about that 94 record today,u will hear almost word ford word what I am saying, musically theres not one single crue record that touches it and I love SHOUT and imo I would bet almost anything that YOU never even heard the album, cuz u didnt even name a track on it!!it is by far the HEAVIEST Motley record, not even close!!with songs like SMOKE THE SKY,HAMMERED,UNCLE JACK,TILL DEATH DO US PART,POWER TO THE MUSIC and MISUNDERSTOOD this record has no fillers imo and anyone can sit there and read the how long each song is,cuz I would guarantee that is what you did,cuz if ur gonna give something a bad review then say EXACTLY WHY,no all u could muster up was it was LONG!!I see straight thru BS and u my friend are a BS'r and I've seen other guys give reviews on this album but they say why,not ohit just sucks and its long and oh yea its the worst album ever!!EVERYTHING u said would be great for GENERATION SWINE cuz its god awful, with the exception of FLUSH and LET US PREY its complete garbage, vocals suck cuz they are using eaualizers and its all industrial garbage!!see thats how its done!!

O out of 10 all albums lol. Most hated band in the 80s scorpions and gnr are the only good glam metal. I hate glam more than emo, screamo and nu metal put together. I'm glad Kurt cobain and Alice in chains, thrash metal and pantera ended this torture.
