Hey Roane, Heads up on the information for (Increase color fidelity) setting uset cf_razer_chroma "1" Change to uset cf_razer_chroma "2" That setting is for turning Razer Chroma software (ATS & ETS2 profiles) for keyboards, mice, etc.. on and off 1 for on 0 for off Source: me with my Razer Huntsman TKL keyboard and Basilisk mouse. Yo, just by seeing the AI cars driving by I can tell that the edit that you did it works really good. I can really see the difference. I can’t wait to go home and try this out.
Many thanks for this video. I Was getting random sputtering while driving. It's non existent now. I have a Nvidia 2070 and 16GB or ram and all of these worked fine for me.
Your settings in the config are good but you have forgotten two things that many people complain about. The oncoming traffic, whether ETS or ATS, that comes to you on the other side of the motorway or another road, can only be seen in full detail in the last 50 meters, let's say, and you can then see the jump from low details to high details, which is not only annoying because it is distracting but also doesn't look good at first. You also have to set two files in the config for this. uset g_lod_factor_parked "2.0" and for the parked trucks uset g_lod_factor_traffic "2.0" up to at least 2.0 max 3.0. This fixes the fact that the trucks are only shown in full detail in the last few seconds and that it is so noticeable when driving or driving past parked vehicles.
Thanks for this as I never looked into the light or reflection tweaks. Reflection scaling 3 definitely looks nice but hot damn is it a performance killer, at least at 4k with 200% scaling being used. I did a test on a save spot I have at night and with high beams on and with reflection scaling on 1 (aka 200% in the game's reflection scaling setting) the fps was 138. On reflection scaling 3, it drops to 114 which is a 17.4% performance hit. Reflection scaling 2 is I think a happy medium for me to use for the time being as it looks a bit better than 1 while the fps drop in my test spot was only around 4.3%. I would not be surprised if the drop from 1 to 3 is even more than the 17.4% if there's a bunch of cars around as this was just me behind a building in a parking lot. I really hope once the game goes multicore that stuff like this will be minimized since I would very much like to use reflection scaling 3 but I just can't at that cost since I need the game to be as close to 120 at all times for my head tracking with TrackIR 5 software which functions at that frame rate, so anything much lower makes it choppy and stuttery when moving your head. I did some driving around during the day with reflection scaling on 3 and was seeing the fps drop to 105 or so. Unfortunately, too low for smooth TrackIR. One other tweak not mentioned here that I like is mirror distance. Ultra is 400 in the config file while I set it to 1000 in ATS and 900 in ETS2. This gives a great LOD in the mirror as not only do you see more stuff but you don't always see stuff just disappearing, which is really nice for using a truck with camera mirrors since the screen is always visible. It definitely has a performance impact yet I have not measured how much. I tried 1200 once but it was hitting a bit too much fps than I wanted to deal with o I settled on 900 & 1000. I really like not seeing things like mountains or even road signs just disappearing a bit after I pass them.
Cheers mate, that was a nice tutorial, and i use it myself now and love it. I have set my window_length to 60 as for some reason that works best for me and scaling in the ingame settings to 400. Looks mint now :) Best regards and I wish u a great day.
I also highly suggest to change g_lod_traffic to 2. Traffic will change its lod to max level almost immediately after they spawn. It has very small load on computer but traffic no longer pops in from low detail to high detail
Thank you. 400 scaling gave mw 8fps and lag. Moved to 300 went up to 25 FPS and smooth. 200 gave me 60 FPS and no loss in the look of the game and runs smooth as butter. I have to use vsync as I use tobii head tracker and that give me tearing with vsync off. But I'm happy with the tweaks so thank you.
Thanks for the helpful video! Just one suggestion, edit this kind of video down to 5-10 minutes. I had to skip through a lot of it to get to the info without taking 20 minutes to do so. Regardless, thanks again!
Good video to experiment with each of our PCs. It would be nice if it could be seen in real time when the value changes are made from the console. In my case I could only perceive the change in "g_light_span_factor".
nice vid :) what i did i capped my fps to 60 via nvidia control panel, and the game runs so much smoother, and my rtx 3060ti gets arround 55/60 degrees on the highest settings.
@@roanegaming ty, the only problem i have is the shimmering/flikkering at a distance, when i zoom in its almost gone. i tried every setting, and still that problem. i even changed via nvidia control panel some settings, what i found on the internet, and still the same BS . i'm not saying the graphics are bad, but it's the damn shimmering/flikkering especiale on the backs of trucks, roadsigns, and billboards, it's anoying.

I play on laptop with 16gb of ram and put the settings you recommended just a little lower on a couple and I’m getting a steady 90 fps capped prob go higher but nice settings !
No cookie I have tried everything to change the gama - brightness and contrast but nothing works SCS know about it and are reportedly working on a fix. 🙂
I also noticed daytime driving sometimes the concrete is really bleached bright white, and night driving is not agood experience because it's just pitch black, I mean to the point of missing turns & driveways it's so blacked out. I still use version 1.48, wondering if the lighting is better in 1.49 or 1.50? I alway use a version or two that's older than current so I don't have to deal with broken mods.

I would like to see the rest of the graphics settings, such as mirro quality, wheater, etc, I've been experiencing some lag/stutters even with a 6600XT, R5 3600, 16GB Ram :( I don't know if its the Realistic graphics mod or i messed up something
I’m gonna try this when I get home, I’ve been having issues when it comes to turning the truck lights on at night in the game. Game runs perfectly fine until I have to turn lights on then I get all sorts of lag. If I’m driving in a straight line it’s not as noticeable but if I’m making a turn or looking around the cabin it’s almost unbearable
@@roanegamingthe only change I made in the config was the buffer and it definitely helped. I also had to turn my frames down to 100% (from 150) and turned my frames down to 100 FPS and I notice no real change visually. Still laggy at night time but now nearly as bad as before. Tomorrow I’m going to do more of your config recommendations and see how it works. I’ve had no issue with this until 1.50 and it’s been driving me nuts ever since, but your video helped me a lot. Hopefully my 2080ti isn’t getting to that “outdated” point already 😅. Thank you! Edit to add; I decided to save the game and restart it with the new settings and now my lag is pretty much gone! I’m kinda blown away to be honest. I went from a “let’s see if we can get rid of the lag” mindset to “let’s see if we can get on this guys (you) level with graphics”. Huge thanks again man, you earned yourself a sub out of me!
I kept having severe stuttering and frame drops with 1.50, until I cleared the Nvidia Shader Cache and increased it's capacity to 1 gig. No other changes really worked for me. I'm running an i9 10900K, 64 gigs RAM, RTX 3090, two 1TB SSDs, with Triple Screens. I'm about to upgrade to a 4090 soon. Oh yeah, I did change the "averaging window length."
G'day D in DC, You know it really spins me out, my rig is no where near as powerful as yours and I don't have much problems running any game, the only thing I can think of is something I saw in a video about a year ago about how much ram you should have for gaming and one of the guys said that there comes a point of diminishing returns where too much ram might cause an opposite effect where it actually will decrease performance. they did a lot of testing and actually found that 16gigs was the ideal amount and 32 gigs was more for game content creators that need the multi tasking like myself, that is why I have 32gigs in my rig so it's possible you are experiencing this weird effect I could be wrong but ya never know ?
That's where I'm at, no fps drops though, just jarring stutters. I have a 3070 with 32gb of ram and was having no issues at all with previous versions. I'll give the cache trick a try
@@NPC-Gamer I think emptying the cache is only a temporary fix. I'm still getting some stuttering and FPS drops now that the cache has filled again. The game ran like butter before 1.50. SCS did something under the hood that's causing the issue. I've even tried removing the hood mirrors...no difference.
@D_in_DC I tried clearing the cache last night and it didn't change much. They seemed less severe, but that's probably just a placebo effect. I've noticed the stutters are timed out specifically and occur less on the open highway. If in town they occur more, even if you're not driving at all and stay in place, they just keep coming.
G'day Shaney G, I think everybody is and the reason is that the brightness (Gamma) Settings is not working and hasn't for a very long time, I am still not sure why SCS has not fixed it but it seems like an easy thing to do??? very annoying.
Now that we can edit averaging_window_duration with 1.50, what do you recommend setting it as? I saw one fellow say it should be 144 if you have a 144hz monitor
G'day Kyle, Well I ended up cranking mine up to 150 so as with any of these settings just try it and see they can't brake your game and if you don't like what it does just dial it back again. 🙂
Hi there & thanks for trying to help us having a decent game-play. I have a very powerful pc (i9+rtx3080ti+32ram/ddr5) and after doing the changes you suggest I have 38fps inside cab and +98fps outside, that "score" being present in my game (slightly different) with any trucks I use . I'd really appreciate any advice to try to fix that! Greetings!
G'day El Kamynante, wow that's a huge drop in fps, It sounds like something that you are using in the cab is not optimized and therefore is chewing up your fps, do you have a lot of cabin accessories that you use or any particular mod that provides something in your cabin?
@@roanegaming Yeah, must be those toys and stuff from accessories. I'll have to test them now that you gave me the idea. Thanks buddy wish you the best!
This is a great vid. But I did everything you told me to do, but for some reason I still have a ton of stuttering. My graphics card is a rtx 3060 which I thought would be enough to run the graphics smoothly, but it doesn't. I also didn't start having these problems until after 1.50. Do you have any other solutions or things that might help?
G'day Milin, like Raphael said below --- "For those looking to resolve the fps drop and slutter, the best tutorial. Don't forget to change the Buffer and restart Windows, even whenever you change the game's scale, to see the real effect."
G'day LastLife, you can try adjusting the following bits of code in the config file uset r_scale_y "1" and uset r_scale_x "1" when both are set at 1 it is 100% scaling. 🙂
For those looking to resolve the fps drop and slutter, the best tutorial. Don't forget to change the Buffer and restart Windows, even whenever you change the game's scale, to see the real effect.
You don't need to restart Windows to see changes in the game. This is ridiculous advice yet expected from someone apparently proud enough to be wearing a face diaper that they'd show a picture of themselves doing it. The psychopaths who pushed this face diaper stupidity 4 years ago must be laughing at people still doing this.
I've got a 4070 Ti, 64gig ddr5 RAM, i9-13900k and I still can't get away from the stuttering frames. Best momentary frame rate is 66. Averages around 40 and dips to 18-25fps quite frequently
G'day Insomniac, if you have tried all my settings and still get stutters it is probably your GPU settings, unfortunately I use an AMD GPU so can't help you with your GPU setup, maybe someone else can fingers crossed. 🙂
@@roanegaming so I tried 300% and 400% (in game settings). 300% -35-45fps... 400%- 20-35fps. 200%- 60fps consistently. With all your settings. So for some reason anything above 200% wrecks my fps. Is it abnormal that my fps won't break 60fps?
@@Insomniackuzco I`ve just changed buffer to 50 and window_lenght to "0", then my Legion ryzen5 and 4060 show me almost 60fps or over. I didnt change the other suggested values. I read at the Reddit that window_lenght works like a break for slower CPU and the value "0" disables this feature for newer CPU and only needs to take care about the render scalle with 4K or multiple screens.
Question. I have this in my steam launch options: -mm_pool_size 16384 -mm_max_resource_size 100 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000 -nointro -unlimitedlog Do i have to delete it or keep it? Or do i have just to follow the instructions you shown in this video and forget/delete the launch options in steam? because i want to have a smoother gameplay and avoid those microstutters.
G'day 30FPSGUY, The best advise I can give is try removing it and see if it improves the stuttering, if it does great, if it doesn't then just put it back. I have a similar set of launch options which I just left in place so again try it and see. 🙂
@@roanegaming I just leave them then tried playing the game for hours. no stuttering or FPS drops on towns, so far. Though i have to go to a specific area in Tacoma Wahington on ATS to test if this will resolve the massive fps drop.
G'day Cletus, if your talking about my config bloom settings this is what I have them set to uset g_bloom_standard_deviation "0.5" uset g_bloom_override "0" uset g_bloom "0.5"
G'day wilson, the settings I provided have nothing to to do with sound so I am guessing something else is causing your issue, however all you need to do if you can't find the cause is revert back to your original config.cfg. @@roanegaming thanks mate it turned out to be a graphics driver update that coinidently popped up after changing the settings, how ever, i thought with my ne pc specs i would be able to get more than 60fps with your settings but its struggling to do so, im only running one moniter as well
@@wilsonbrundy4346 FPS in ATS or ETS 2 is extremely dependent on settings and then just as dependent on any mods you are using, for example I have a profile that has over 120 mods on it and I still maintain a good FPS however I have another profile that has only 12 mods and it struggles to maintain anything above 30fps, I know that this is caused by one mod that is not correctly optimized, however I keep it as I like the mod and am hopeful that the dev will optimize it soon, so I can only say that once you have your settings correct then your next step is to go through any mods you are using to see if one or more of them are causing your issues.
The one i have is glitching real bad. I've tried updating the graphics and it's not doing any better. It's either the computer is old because when their older they don't function as good with certain things, Or the disc could be dirty.

Listen this is awsome thank you for that info I tried it and it is awsome. but one more thing what truck is that and where can I get it. Thank you again
G'day tyapnekade, at the moment no, most have not been updated to 1.50 yet, however I am in the process of testing the "Project Next Gen" graphics mod it's a paid mod and has been updated to 1.50 however so far in my testing it has reduced performance so I will do some more testing before I can give my conclusions.
whats the purpose of mirror scale x and y ?also I would like to see the actual FPS when you are using triple screen .. you said you have 3 monitors but on your tutorial u are using 1920x1080p resolution and not the triple. It will show great graphics and fps it thats the case but I appreciate seing it on 3 monitora because I tried it and I have Ryzen 5 3600 32GB ram RTX3060 and most of tye settings are high/medium/low and it can run 60fps above. Using triple 1080p monitors. thank you.
G'day Yshish, the mirror scale settings are changed in game so no need to change them in the config.cfg. The reason it was on 1920 x 1080 was because I had the game running on a single monitor so I could record it through OBS.
G'day Wavy, I think you might have the same problem a lot of people are having including me, the in-game gama isn't working and I haven't found a way to adjust it in the config yet however I am still testing different settings that look promising.
G'day like new jeep, It's a matter of trying different levels and see what looks and performs best however a good place to start would be 200%, and the see how it looks and performs then adjust up or down from there. 🙂
G'day Arthur, you sure can, I have 32gb's of ram but 16gb's is all you really need, the reason I have 32 is because I record and stream videos so I need that bit extra to cope with the multitasking. Someone did a video where they tested various amounts of ram to see what would be the best for gaming and they found that 16gb's was best because anymore than that didn't improve gameplay, FPS etc. and that the only reason you would need more is if you were a content creator streaming and recording gameplay.
G'day SSLmnt, That's unusual, are you sure you had the game closed and made all the changes in the config file, saved them and then started the game again? 🙂
G'day Nejc, It works best for me but like I said in the video these settings are a good place to start however test all settings and find whats best for you. 🙂
@@roanegaming g'day. :D Does it drop your fps too much when you set it on 400% or is it something else? Will try with your config edit suggestions. Also, since i am new to the game, is it a know issue that vehicles just disapear in front of your or apear out of thin air? I am getting that. Edit 1: I edited the config file and got a big drop in frames. Setting the scale to 300% didn't help, I was still getting 40-50 frames. Looks like my 1070Ti can't handle that. Edit 2: It was the uset g_reflection_scale that butchered my frames. I would advise caution changing this setting for users with lower end GPUs/CPUs.
@@Obalcan I had the scale set to 300% from version 1.49 so left it there and everything worked as it should so I left it lol however after you mentioned it I tried it at 400% and it still works fine so I am going to try it at that for awhile and see how it goes. Try reverting all your config settings back to default and just increase the buffer page size to 50 and see if that improves it. If not try it at 30 etc.
G'day Anish, I can't guarantee it but in most cases it either increases fps and/or stabilizes it so there is less stutters or lag. My suggestion is to make a copy of your old config file then back up the original and make the changes and see if it works if you have no improvement you can always go back to your original config file. 🙂
G'day likenewjeep, if you are asking if the settings are for low spec computer GPU then the answer is - Try it and see, if you backup your original config file you can always revert back to that if it doesn't work 🙂
@@mikepullman2513 BTW none of these settings should crash your game, OK try these settings uset t_averaging_window_duration "144" and uset t_averaging_window_length "288" and let me know how it goes. 🙂

G'day Syed, you're welcome
Your settings in the config are good but you have forgotten two things that many people complain about. The oncoming traffic, whether ETS or ATS, that comes to you on the other side of the motorway or another road, can only be seen in full detail in the last 50 meters, let's say, and you can then see the jump from low details to high details, which is not only annoying because it is distracting but also doesn't look good at first. You also have to set two files in the config for this. uset g_lod_factor_parked "2.0" and for the parked trucks
uset g_lod_factor_traffic "2.0" up to at least 2.0 max 3.0. This fixes the fact that the trucks are only shown in full detail in the last few seconds and that it is so noticeable when driving or driving past parked vehicles.
G'day Slayer Thanks for the info. 🙂

G'day Brantley, hope it helps, let us now how it goes 🙂
@@NPC-Gamer Yeh try increasing your buffer first and see what happens that is the one big change I found to prevent stutters at least with my rig. 🙂
I’m really struggling with sun light being too bright in game and making everything too white! I don’t know how to change it!
