As an ultra runner and someone who has done FKTs and have had bad weather along the way, this was the meat of how it's done! Thanks for showcasing it!

Loving your channel and these challenges in particular btw - keep it up!

The network of trig points was set up to facilitate accurate mapping of the UK. Each has a highly accurate grid reference and orientation. The inset on the top is to attach a theodolite which can then be used to measure angles, distances and elevations for mapping. Whilst you cannot always see another trig point from each a number of other survey points will be "visible" (as these could just be post locations for stadia rods etc. they are unlikely to be visible to the naked eye and many have since been destroyed or built over).

Always like a good challenge route. Especially where you get to plan your own, but have to visit a specified set of points. Route choice can be a an important part of a fast time. Personally I find the descents are the make or break part. I can descend quite well on rough terrain, but once I have overloaded my quads, it is game over. I learned this the hard way on a fast (for me) Yorkshire 3 Peaks attempt.

Your both troopers. Such conditions to run in. I will check for FKT here in Manitoba. One Thing. What is the make of the back pack Hydration pack Heather had on? Thats what I require for my runs. Right now me loving wife comes out to hand me water on my highway routes. Any trail runs I won't get that option.

Because people who did not record their run or made it publicly available might have ran faster
