This is one the greatest rock-n-roll songs ever. I consider it rock-n-roll because of it's attitude, spirit, and punch of sound. It's on my playlist for the party that follows my funeral, I want people to celebrate the good things in life. Thanks, peace ✌
I’ve had this song stuck in my head for YEARS, but couldn’t figure out the name of group. I searched again the for the millionth time and was sooooo happy I found it. My Mom used to play the song all of the time in the 80s.
I was about 10 years old when I started listening to this song and I love it today just as much as I did when I was a kid. Same way I feel about MJ’s. Keep it in the closet and Another part of me.
Best group ever. Really miss the wonderful Tim Hauser, the leader and founder of Manhattan Transfer. Also this features the great late Jon Hendricks who along with his music partner invented Vocalese. the late Al Jarreau called him the best jazz singer that possibly ever lived. I saw them in person in the late 70's, right after Cheryl joined them. To those who never saw them with Tim, you really something special.
Not many songs can make me stop what I'm doing, close my eyes and smile, and make me sway like maybe I've had just a tiny bit of absinthe, but Soul Food to Go is surely at the top of that list.
I REMEMBER THOSE MTV AND SOULBEAT DAYS....BACK IN 1985....THANKFULLY "THE CALIFORNIA MUSIC CHANNEL 'DONE MADE A BIG COMEBACK ON TV '"...HELL! THEY REALLY NEVER LEFT!
Wait! Is that LeVar Burton @ 3:12 in the video!! It sure looks like him!! On a side note, I saw MT perform numerous times and they always rocked the joint, going to miss Tim.
There's a stomping live version at ruclips.net/video/_Mam3P0w6HA/видео.html But I love this one with the burbling vocoder underpinning. Very much of its time ! This is my favourite MT track. And so are all the others :-)
2024 and still the greatest group ever!!! Harmony in motion
