Actually it’s not I just looked it up on the internet. Straight Quote from Wikipedia “Wavellite was first described in 1805 for an occurrence at High Down, Filleigh, Devon, England and named by William Babington in 1805 in honor of Dr. William Wavell (1750-1829),[4] a Devon-based physician, botanist, historian, and naturalist, who brought the mineral to the attention of fellow mineralogists.”
@dawsie you just confirmed what he said lol. Read the whole thing. It clearly says it was named after Wavel who was responsible for finding it and bringing it to the attention of experts. The people who first "described it" were from England (whatever that means).
@thomasmacginnes100 not sure. I guess it just matters of the minerals crystal structure. Opal has different angles the way light passes though so the crystal structure is much larger
*_HOWtF have i never heard of this before??_*_ itd be really helpful if you gave more information of its elemental composition plus how&where it forms!?_ 🤔🤯😆👍🏻💙👏🏻🤷🏼 #niceFindTho!
I have always been obsessed with geology. I want to do something in the science criteria when I get a stable job. Could you tell me what you do for a living so I could research on it?
Oh wow, real mineral hunters! Not some people stick processed gems to each other or cover them in clay and then dig them out in stupid ways in front of the camera!
It's called Wavellite. A man named Wavel found it. It's in Arkansas and Avant mining owns the entire city almost.
Gracias por la información. Es bello ❤

@thomasmacginnes100 not sure. I guess it just matters of the minerals crystal structure. Opal has different angles the way light passes though so the crystal structure is much larger
