Helpful video, my jeep patriot 2011 has the same issue of randomly doing nothing at all when I get on the gas but doesn’t slam into gears. Has a p0777 code and hopefully this will do the trick.

I had two shops tell me my Patriot had a bad transmission. I changed the spark plugs and its been perfect since.

That’s also very common on the 2.4 model, but there won’t be a check engine light on for the transmission in that case.

I have P0741 let me check it. Hope replacing Transmission control module will help as you recommend.

Make sure you get a TCM that matches the same ID number as the one in your Jeep. For example, mine is 123AC

Hey! I'm in almost the same exact situation you were in. I just bought a 2016 Jeep Compass with 108k miles, that a shop diagnosed as having a bad transmission. So the person decided to sell it, and I got it for insanely cheap.
I have a snap-on scanner but only updated to 2013, so I used my cheap scanner to scan for codes, and got the same codes you have, P0741 and P0777. I also got P0506.
The same thing is happening to me where I start it and put into gear, it tries to move and then the throttle pedal stops doing anything and the idle rpms go down(that might be where this P0506 is coming from).
Do you know of anyway to test the transmission control module?
I am about halfway through taking my transmission out when I found this video...
I did drop the pan and drained the fluid; I don't think the fluid had ever been changed. It was brown/black and smelt burnt, and there was some metal fillings in the pan. Metal in the pan can be normal, but mine was a little excessive I think, some larger bits.
I think I'm still going to tear it down and inspect everything. There are some pretty common wear/failure points, that have aftermarket remedies that would be a good idea to replace, especially with how bad that fluid was.

Hi was your transmission the problem?

@@chubbydearest yes, rebuilt it and now its driving great. There was an internal failure.

Good to hear its running. I'm barely starting my inspection need to drop pan soon. It struggles to accelerate at turns and depending on the movement on the highway, there are times I have to give myself a couple seconds to catch up and then it does the shake/slam. Feels like I'm getting hit from behind !

Mine at cruising speed will Rev up and catch Rev up then catch. It totally shifts fine till i get up to speed and then do that. No codes though. 2007 caliber. Do you think mine is similar? Thanks for the video. :)

I’ve done a transmission fluid change back in august and my Jeep sorta does this. When on highway, when accelerating to 120-130 the rpm increases a bit over 3. What could that mean??😐

Hello. (2014 Jeep Compass 2.0) I noticed my transmission when the torque convertor was suppose to go into lock up at cruising speed, it would surge 2-300 rpm. I put shifter in 6 speed it would level out without surge. It does show a P0777 code as "Secondary pressure solenoid stuck on". Another code is showing that I don't know is related as a P2110 Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system bank 1 - forced limited RPM. Any thoughts? I use the Autel MaxiAP AP200 to retrieve codes. Thanks

I had the ETC it was the main electric throttle body and purge solenoid

Hello, were you able to solve the code P0777? My Jeep Compass has the same problem.

hi! how can you tell if the same part number on tcm or can I install a tcm on same model and yaer? Thanks

Do the numbers before have to match or as long as it AC?

    • @MidwestMechanics
      @MidwestMechanics  3 месяца назад

Numbers have to match. If it’s 123AC, you have to find a TCM ending in 123AC to replace it with.

Either watch the whole video or don’t complain when your lazy ass can’t figure out what you’re doing. This is not a 1 answer fixes all solution.
