Finally, an accurate version!! Thank you! There's certain ways they play stuff that nobody gets close on. Kirk's part on one is another one. I've watched the Howard Stern video trying to get it but I can't quite tell what he's doing on some parts. The clean riff before the verse and in between the verses.

This is beyond helpful. My guitar teacher tries hard to transcribe songs I want to play . I tried to learn to play the rhythm for this song last year but got frustrated because all the tabs he found was just missing something. You point out the muted strums AND that the timing switches to 6/4 in the verse! I checked and my music sheet is 4/4 and 2/4. That’s why it sounded off. I subscribed, saved and liked this video. My teacher will love that you’re counting the rhythm and providing tab. Thank you 🙏 I’m a 53 year old beginner with 4 years experience. I have tendon problems and carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist. Because of your video and tab, I have a great shot at playing the rhythm of a slower tempo Metallica song correctly. I can play this with a 2 finger power chord. Can’t wait for - For Whom The Bell Tolls. I’ll be watching for that!

Hey, i just wanted to thank you for all your wonderful tutorials and i hope that you'll keep making these videos. It would be awesome if some day you could also make tutorials on some of the more popular songs, like "Master of Puppets" , "Enter Sandman" or "One". Specially Blackened is very tricky with the four guitar reverse intro. I know that there already are a lot of tutorials on these songs, but none are as accurate as yours, because you also explain all the sections with harmonys and how they play it live. Your videos really helped improve my playing and hope that some day your channel gets the recognitaion it deserves. 👍🏻

Still a relative beginner but I’ve been able to follow a lot of this and loving working on the solos. Superb tutorial Tim, subbed. Any plans to do One? That’s the song that got me into metal, I know others have covered it but we’d benefit from your approach.
I'll do One at some point. I'm finishing work on Blackened right now. Then I think I'm going to focus on finishing off the Puppets album. I'll probably do One after that.

I have a question dude, I know this is about what notes and chords kind of stuff, however I am interested on your thoughts about FX. After the lone clean verse guitar, when the tune kicks off in stereo, I know I'm hearing a Tremelo, wavy, pulsing sound. I ask this because every cover/remake on the tube it is not there and never mentioned. Are you in the know of what is going on, single guitar, entire clean bus? For me it is one of those rare moments that without that effect it just doesn't sound right, or cool. And I thank you for the lesson, Tim. -Lee-
I don't know if they just changed it but all the videos I'm finding where I can see Hetfield playing the intro, on the very first bar after the first natural harmonic, he's just doing hammer-ons on the 2nd and 3rd fret not hammering from the 3rd to the 5th sliding. I noticed Kirk plays it this way on the cunning stunts doodle so it made me go back and watch Hetfield, and I've yet to find a video. They sound very similar but the hammer-ons without the sliding sound smoother. Just forbanyone with horrible OCD as me. It's not good enough for me to be able to sound like I'm playing it I have to do the exact way it it kills me. Lol
They rarely, if ever, play it like it was recorded. I was aware that they aren't playing it the same when I made the video but I decided to stay true to the recording. I guess I should have elaborated. Thanks!
