- Furious motorists were forced to physically move multiple Extinction Rebellion activists from a busy highway in Rome after they sat in protest causing a major build up of traffic.
What's annoying about those people is they're NOT disrupting the Lives of Powerful People or the Lawmakers, they're Disrupting the Lives of ordinary common Citizens who have to struggle to make ends meet.
I guarantee you they don't work as well. Very productive blocking highways by people that don't work for people that are trying to get to their jobs.

I've never understood the point of blocking a road like this. _Everyone_ hates you for it. You are actively turning people against you. That is the opposite of what any activist should want.

I'm from Portland and I can attest to this, the protesters achieved nothing and antifa frequently gets attacked when they show their black bloc faces.
A few years ago in Boston, occupy Wall Street protestors chained themselves to big metal drums. Staties dragged them off and detained them on the side of the road.

A few years ago, some people in our locality peacefully protested about a clogged canal but authorities didn't even know (although knowing would not make them do anything until getting pressured by higher ups) that a protest was occurring. A few weeks later, they protested blocking a busy road and it got immediate media attention. The cleaning of the canal started within a week.
In the case of this video I am not supporting the doing of protesters. None cares until it one's problem. Both sides are selfish.

Several states in the US have passed laws stating that a freeway/highway is exclusively for vehicles, and that anyone run over trying to pull this kind of stunt would be at fault. Basically, you sit down on the freeway and get run over by a semi (Lorrie to our Aussie and British friends) it's your own stupid fault. Amazing how these kinds of protests have dried up here.

Nah we don't call them Lorrie's here in Australia, just UK as far as I know. In Aus ppl get MASSIVE fines for protesting on highways whilst they'd close the section of road off for their safety before arresting them. But I don't mind the US approach on that one, just let them meet their own fate.. even though they're actually protesting pretty valid things that nobody wants to think about because most of us are too busy with contributing to society which in itself needs a grand overhaul and that's exactly what they're trying to point attention at, selflessly/selfishly.. it's really both depending on how you look at it. they're giving up their future by possibly being hit by a car or a truck and or getting a criminal record along with a crippling fine to draw attention to climate change and things like this whilst the planet goes to shit going about its business perpetuating all that is destroying it and making it less and less habitable for future generations with more and more mess for them to clean up too. But although this is scientifically backed information we as a society will try our hardest to drag our heels about making any necessary change because change doesn't pay the bills or pay for the continuation of our personal habit patterns we've grown accustom to. So on that note, i applaud these individuals willingness to throw their future away for what is a valid yet overlooked cause, on the other hand.. i'm a worker myself, saving for my plot of land far enough away that the bombs and tsunamis won't effect me or my family, my only activism I take part in will never effect another person or their choices even if they might be wrong. I'll eventually live off grid with a saved seed bank and a great knowledge of organic growing, but i'll be called a keyboard warrior until then for not pulling wild stunts like this which is the irony.. to those that want to do nothing, those trying anything will almost always be seen as cowardly and so forth.. unless they're handing out free beer basically, that'd be the only way to win the hearts and minds of a mostly sloppy greedy populous that we have cultivated here in the 1st world countries, number 1 also in depression and suicide too i might add, why? because we're too dumb to want to change anything we're doing wrong despite having amazing potential and privilege.
