A few tips for the Dirtsurfer that you might find helpful. When starting use "push mongo" style. Starting the other way your weight is on the front foot and it immediately effects the steering - you're trying to balance the board and push - any front foot angle now steers you in that direction. Pushing Mongo style to start makes the front steering slightly insensitive to rapidly changing weight shift/deck angles. Starting on grass is hard to get rolling - although when learning to start it is the safest option if you fall. Way easier to start on a firm surface .When up and going try to center your body weight through your heels rather than the whole foot - by doing that your feet automatically assume the proper foot deck angle. When turning etc (or just slaloming the heck out of that path) think heels and toes to turn - sort of like a snowboard - later on you can lead the turns with your upper body. Which is damn cool to do when at stupid speed - unless you fall off or the back slides out on the road shingle that you didn't see (hence decent protective gear...LOL) .Handy tip for really slow speed - bend your knees and take up any movement in your legs and not your upper body. Stopping ;- reverse mongo push start(front foot off ) and lean down and grab the top of the front wheel and lift - which looks cool and stops jamming you fingers (not cool) from the front wheel pivoting. On my electric Dirtsurfer I have regen breaking and my unpowered Dirtsurfer has a calf break - you can do the grab the front wheel on both. The regen braking stops you really quickly way more effective than the calf break -and that's why I carry a small drogue chute for the unpowered Dirtsurfer for those "I have to stop or die when at stupid downhill speed" moments. Some folk like to have foot straps and they are happy with that - I prefer to bail and not have the board strapped to my feet if everything goes west .OK hope that helps you !

Might be able to add stability to it with some pull type springs mounted on each side of the front wheel to keep it centered

Wonder if a single hiking pole would be of use for the Dirt Surfer as an ad hoc stabilizer?

I’ve a short vid on my channel showing how to set up skateboards to handle incredibly stable yet carvy. It’s a game changer!

Brother where did you get that dirtsurfer??? I can't find them anywhere, and it seems like they don't make them anymore. I've seen people make their own homemade ones before, but yours looks like a factory job that's been electrified.

I decided to look around on Facebook Marketplace to see if I could find one, and got EXTREMELY lucky with a guy selling one for dirt cheap

Holy smokes you did get lucky lol. I may end up having to build my own dirtsurfer if I want to do something like this. I've seen other people do it so it can't be too hard.
      Thanks for the reply man!

I made a comment re steering stabilization on you last vid.
Just to add another brain fart idea, looking at both your surfer and skateboard. The skateboard is more stable to remain standing on at a stop, in part, b/c of the two wheels giving leverage against the rubber pivot on the truck. So why not swap out the front end of the dirtsurfer for an oversize set of trucks. Same wheel size, just two of them. Tube/pipe axle housing with press-fit bearings for a thru axle. Pivot in the middle with either elastomeric dampeners like MTB forks had or a coil spring on either side or just a super sizes rubber pivot like on a traditional skate truck.
But.......easy for me to say, having a welding shop....
Dunno if the cross country trail leads you to Van. Isl. or if The Galloping Goose is part of it, but I'm a 5min walk to The Goose from my house. Maybe I'll see you swoosh by. :D

But that ruins the point of the dirtsurfer! If you're looking for a wacky electric skateboard build, stay tuned. Lots of weird stuff in store lol
