I love mismatched theming on roller coasters. You're absolutely right, it reminds me of the theming mechanics in Roller Coaster Tycoon, and how my friends and I used to have competitive matches to see if you could build a park from scratch, and cover every single solitary square with something, except pathways that don't connect to anything weren't allowed. It got pretty insane, and it just reminds me of the "good old days."

They do seem to indicate current ride closures on the website now, but there's no way to tell how long they'll be closed for or if any future closures are planned
Adding standard inversions like this loop and 0G to a hyper coaster always looked a bit odd and indecisive to me. Great to know they work well as a complete package. Fingers crossed for Hyperia.
keep in mind hyperia's first drop is 90 straight down, hyper coaster is more like 75-80. there will be a lot more air time on the drop. its short in track leangth but I think what we have will still be very good.
Yeah, though there are first drops with twists that are great (Expedition GeForce or Cornball Express, for example), I definitely prefer the airtime you get with a straight first drop.
@@RollercoasterDavid And it's longer than the Mach launch coaster in China too, which is the only other Mach coaster with a DROP (not to be confused w height) over 200'. But you will know which one is better when Hyperia opens: Hyperia or Hyper coaster in Turkey. You'll have ridden both.
Hyperia should have some pretty good airtime going down the drop, it's profiled sort of like the mosasaurus roll but vertical. The back row might even reach close to -2 g's as mack seems to like to hit that number when building coasters as of late (see ride to happiness). What I truly wonder is how the shortness will affect the coaster, as honestly it's looking like it's going to be 3 amazing moments then the ride fizzles out after the dive stall. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I personally prefer long well paced coasters rather than short throw everything they got at you in a few elements coasters.
I think the drop on Hyperia will feel much different than the one on Hyper Coaster. The main problem with Hyper Coaster's drop is that the twist is profiled more like a downwards banked turn, which leads to it not having airtime. Hyperia's twist looks more like a downwards mosasourous roll, which supposedly has ejector airtime. We won't know exactly what it will feel like until people ride it, but just from the profiling alone the airtime will almost certainly be better.

That said, it’s my very long-time, outsider’s experience with British enthusiasts’ opinions of British coasters that they tend to fall only into extremes: hyping them up beyond what’s merited, or trashing them beyond what’s merited. A measured sense of where British coasters fall on the global scale always seemed intriguingly scarce. That said, everyone everywhere is excited this year for Hyperia.
I’m looking forward to hyperia but I do feel it’s being overhyped, the length seems to be the biggest issue, also the lack of thematic elements is a disappointment. The whole project seems to be not very well thought out imo. I’m also heading out to ride hyperia at the end of July too so should be a good year for mack creds
I think i disagree about Hyperias drop, you can really see the difference in profiling between the two, the reason you don't get much airtime on hypercoaster is because the positives start pretty much instantly after the crest. With hyperia, the pullout doesnt start till well later.
I'd rather a shorter intense ride packed full of strong elements than a long ride with winding filler sections. Also hyperia is more than 1 foot taller than the big one. The big one's height is 213ft whereas hyperia is 236ft
Best ride summary on this ride out there = " a ride record at the least cost " = this sums up the ride and sums up Merlin in a nut-shell.
It's a real shame when you consider how much money they wasted on the ghost train

Having ridden this a few weeks ago, I can say it is nearly as good as Hyperia and currently sits at my no4 overall coaster. Such an underrated gem

A trip to Istanbul is worth it for the two Intamin blitzes if you can work it in to your holiday.

Twisting 90 degrees or so is fine, it's just when you go 180 all forward momentum cancels out the airtime!
While Hyperia is taller and has a better drop, Hyper coaster looks to have a longer and more varied layout with more airtime.
It's definitely a more traditional layout, whereas hyperia is trying some new things

Hyperia has 6 elite elements which is more than most coasters of a longer length can manage on a single ride

I hope you're right, the other issue is the forwards momentum you get going over the top might still reduce the air as you change direction.
