I was besotted with Doris Day as a child and, now a thousand years later, I still am. Beautiful, dignified, classy and such a voice. I can never choose the very best female singer between Doris Day, Barbra Streisand or Celine Dion. All fabulous.
Came straight here from hearing the sad news. I just had to hear her sing this again. Beautiful lady, beautiful voice, she gave this lovely song everything she had.
I did the exact, same thing...came straight here, after I read the news of her passing. This song and the film, it came from, have always been my favorites, by her!
Watched Calamity Jane(1953) in 1990 and the Musical shaped my childhood... I introduced the movie to my 9 yr old daughter. She cried. Still love it to this day.
RIP - saw this movie with my parents when 5. Now 71 - have NEVER forgotten Secret Love or that scene. 5 - what movies today can you take a 5 year old to, and he and his parents BOTH enjoy!? One of the best ever. A true star - they don't make 'em like that anymore.
You are right. When I was 5 my parents took me to see Jerome jerome's "three men in a boat". Again find me anything today that is simply good plain fun.
My mom took me to see this movie when i was young. And the one thing i remember was Doris Day singing Secret Love. When i hear that, i miss my mom.. I'm 75.
I think I speak for many men when I say Miss Day was our secret love for years. Gorgeous, angelic voice, stunning looks and just an all-round beautiful person. God bless you, Doris. Thank you for your music. Rest in beautiful peace
that might be due to the gay connotations that the scene supposedly represented. This was what the Celiloid Closet an otherwise, stupid documentary tried to claim a couple of decades ago.
It's now January 6 2022. One of her fellow Hollywood Stars, Betty White, passed away December 31st 2021. I wonder if they ever worked together on any charitable work because they both had a lifelong passion of helping animals. Rest in peace to both
I sure do miss the 70s, 80,s and 90s. The music🎷 today is not even the same. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite song?
Pillow Talk was mine la la la la-!? hahahaha cracking me up again, just thinking of that piano scene with Doris tinkling away when the music sheet begins to show its face- rock Hudson’s face!😆
My dad loved Doris Day and he loved Calamity Jame. Dad was a big fan of westerns and he would watch Doris over and over. I bought him the DVD so he could watch her whenever he wanted to. He called Doris Day his girlfriend.
Went to the movies with my big Brother to watch this in 1953. I was a love struck 7 year old. It's stayed with me all these years. Beautiful Lady, Angelic voice.
My god, between 0:58 and 1:10, it's almost like she's radiating her own sunshine. There will never be another like her. Her acting, her dancing and especially her singing will live on for all time. What an amazing woman. RIP Ms Day ❤️💔❤️
Actress and singer Doris Day made nearly three dozen films and more than 600 recordings. At the height of her career, she topped both the billboard and the box office charts. Day died of pneumonia this morning, May 13, 2019 at the age of 97.
Me to! And her eyes and expression have that rare hypnotism. The closer the camera focus, the more entrancing and ravishing she becomes. Wish I has a make-up mirror that pulled off that trick! On sale in IKEA? 🤣😇🥰 Love andrea
Rest in Peace Sweet Lady! You left us, an incredible body of work, and we will all, cherish it! Thank you for entertaining us, for all of these years! Thank you, for your dedication, to animal rights, too!
My daughter is 42 now and she fell in love with Doris Day when l would watch all her old movies.Calamity Jane is her favourite movie. My daughter had rjw same coloured hair and it was shaped liked Doris's hair to naturally, till this day her dad calls her Doris lol ❤ Thank you Beautiful Lady,a real lady Doris Day.
The movie Calamity Jane has to be seen to believe how versatile her emotional and physical acting is. They say the movie stars aren't like they used to be. I'll say!
Desde que tengo Memoria siempre he admirado admirado a la gran Doris datos me encanta desde la película the para dos. Con Gordon Mc RAE. Era. Linda. Godoy. Blesa her. ANA
I watched CALAMITY JANE for the umpty-dozenth time and saw something I'd never noticed before. When filming, she's not just standing there waiting for the other actor to finish his lines so she can say hers. No, watch how her face changes expression as the other actor speaks. She is actually LISTENING from within her character, and then REACTING AS the character, not just reciting her lines as an ''actress'' outside the character. I was stunned to realize this! No wonder Rock Hudson called her ''a one-woman actors' studio.''
Roger Ebert, the late film critic, called Doris ''the actress I respect the most'' and then said, ''I don't know what she had, but we're never going to see it again.''
Calamity Jane is one of the best films of all time, and probably the best musical ever. The classic films of Hollywood's Golden Age could never be made now, the acting and articulation not to mention songwriting production skills were far superior in the 1950's. Nowadays everything is tarnished by computer special effects and trendy modern ideas in the scrip writing. RIP Doris. You were a beautiful and extremely talented lady who brought happiness to so very many people, not to mention the love and care you gave to your beloved neglected animals in later life. Your legacy will never be forgotten, and your films and singing will be viewed and cherished for generations. Thank you.
This is one my sisters’ favourite movies And her favourite actress (she even called her “mum”) she looked like her too!! We lost her a week ago, so I am singing this and the other calam songs at the top of my lungs, for my beautiful sister. RIP Helen 🩷🩷🩷
I was eight years old when this film came out. I can still remember my mom and godmother taking me to the theater to see this film. I fell in love with Doris Day that night and I left remembering every word of her songs. I've read where she not only enjoyed that role the most but if you wanted to know what she was really like in her private life you can just watch Calamity! God bless her.
This beautiful, classic and Academy Award winning song from the 1953 classic movie Calamity Jane truly belongs only to Doris Day! I own this on both record and CD. I was born in 1978. I own this movie on videotape, Laser Disc, DVD and Blue Ray. Thank you for posting and sharing this! It is movie magic! I love it!
Doris Day made Many Amazing Movies and her Voice is so AMAZING! Everyone that grew up with her shows LUVS her Singing ... she will always be remembered with her beautiful Voice and her spunk! I hv attended her 95th and 96th Birthday 3 Day Celebration At Carmel And attended Quaill Lodge each event to sing Happy Bday to her! A real HIGHLIGHT for me!!!!!! Awesome Lady!!!!! Doris Day passed away since I originally wrote .. so sad to hear. I wanted to attend a 100th Bday Party! She was one of a kind for sure!
Secret Love, ✨Doris Day.💖 My father loved listening to her songs and watching her films. Calamity Jane was his Favourite. (My mother loved her too, but didn't show it so openly 🤭). But, I tell you, my father watched/listened only musical films/recordings by Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Vera Ellen, Danny Kaye, Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, or Doris Day. He would put a Doris Day tape on when we get in the car, after playing it the upteenth time we would change the tape. I guess, we grew to love Doris Day with our father. Oh...I do miss her too. I wept💦 much of the day, as right now, when I heard of her passing. Again...RiP my Secret Love, ✨Doris Day 💖....my Love's no Secret anymore.✨💦🙏💖
Doris Day is surely one of the great loves of my life! Even had the privilege of knowing her as well many years ago. How I tear up looking at that beautiful face and hearing that magnificent voice! Cannot believe she is gone~ Thank God for film and recordings. Her beauty and artistry lives on as does our immense love for her.
Am in my late 50s and was brought up watching her films in which I still do and like your blessed mother my mum would sings to her songs even those my mum been pass away over two years now I can still picture her singing to her songs.
I was just 4yrs. of age when Doris Day made this great hit, and her beauty and lovely vocals were something left to be desired, I so dearly realized this as I grew older, I always loved her movies and her musical talent.
Saw this aged 8, just adored Doris from that time on. I wanted her beautiful sparkly eyes and gorgeous voice. I introduced this great film to my nieces and they loved it too. Last week my great niece said " we watched Calamity Jane and its my favourite" she is 9 years old, the magic goes on and on. Thanks Doris!
My sister and I didn't go to the movies every week, but when there was a trailer for a Doris Day film, we took note and made sure to be there the next Saturday. The place was always packed when Doris was on the screen.
At age 8, I saw this movie. Doris Day made such an impact on me that girls could be this strong and also beautiful! I learned every word and used to sing this song near the woods behind my house, the highest and most passionate pitch at "Now I shouteth from the highest hills"! Little girl memories from so long ago...
I sure do miss the 70s, 80,s and 90s. The music🎷 today is not even the same. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite song?
So sad that a favorite childhood icon of mine is gone. I was always a fan from knee high to now at age 60. Loved to hear Doris Day sing and loved the hilarious movie "Calamity Jane" among the many movies she did. Great memories and thankful for the music and the laughter she left us and sadly one of the biggest voices for animal rights is gone. She lived 97 years but i'm sure she was always young at heart. Rest in Heaven Doris...your work on earth is through. 💗
Beautiful woman with a beautiful voice, there was nothing she couldn't do. She was absolutely amazing, loved watching her movies when growing up, still watch her films today. So so missed R.I.P. Doris Day♥♥♥🙏
Wonderful movie and it showed girls back then that you can be a cowgirl and still be a female. My mom took me and my sister downtown and bought us teeny, tiny cowboy boots and I still have them. It was a fun time to be alive back then.
Doris Day, the greatest Miss America there has ever been! An amazing star in movies and a voice, beauty and personality that was loved and continues to be admired around the world! Pure magic!
What an angelic face and voice! You are my forever friend that lasted 67 years and beyond. May you Rest In Peace with the Lord. You are greatly missed, but thank God you will live for eternity with your music and movies, and your kindness and compassion for animals. Love, Len Urso.
Fantastic movie my Granddaughter came over and was singing whip crack away I said how do you know that and she said my music teacher posted it on Goggle classroom so this Friday we will watch Calamity Jane together she's 11.
I saw this film in the 60s when I was young and in school and fell in love with Doris and her beauty and that lovely voice. This is her anthem and big selling number one from 1953 and best film Calamity Jane.
Rest in peace. I watched her movies, I listened to her singing and when I was a kid I watched her TV show. One of the last of Hollywood's golden age and a champion of animal rights.
My mother loved you she loved all of the film's you where in she has passed away but the most favourite song she loved was it's magic I play this song every day as a family we got it played at my mother's funeral 💓
For as long as I can remember, Doris Day was a part of life here on Earth, for me. Back in the '60's, before video machines in every home, we recorded on reel-to-reel audio tape Calamity Jane and listened to it constantly. I guess I fell in love with Doris Day as a kid and never stopped. She was my father's generation and he's been gone these past dozen years or so. I was just thinking of her a couple of days ago and now I know why. She is far and away much happier now than ever before, and though I know I will miss her wonderful spirit, I am content knowing that her life was a full one, and grateful for all that great music and screen talent. God speed Doris Day. Wonderful great lady indeed!!
Watching,Calamity Jane,on TCM....today ,brought me here!! Ms.Doris Day has one of the most beautiful Vocals..... I've ever heard!!She sang/ sung this song, with such passion and clarity!! She is a legend. an icon,in the truest sense of the words....God Bless her!! 2/9/2019
Some songs make a lasting impression, as in. I miss you, Doris Day. Listening in March, 2024 ❤❤❤
I was besotted with Doris Day as a child and, now a thousand years later, I still am. Beautiful, dignified, classy and such a voice. I can never choose the very best female singer between Doris Day, Barbra Streisand or Celine Dion. All fabulous.
Don't forget Dplly Parton

😢
Dolly Parton is great but not quite in the same class. For me anyway. X.@@bruce-z9p
@@bruce-z9p Never forget Dolly Parton.
Look at her eyes when she sings this. She really portrays a woman in love. Great song, great performance.
181251 it's really hard for a guy like me NOT to stare at her gorgeous eyes :)
There is neither an actress nor a singer who can truly be compared to the greats of our youth.

I just turned 62 and when I was just 6 years old I fell in love with Doris Day. That secret love never left my heart and never will.
Same Ed - I'm 52 and it has stayed with me all of my life and is to me one of the best songs ever written for a movie.
I will soon be twenty nine; and I've been watching Calamity Jane since I was ten, when I first rented the VHS copy from the library.

Rest In Peace, Doris. We love you
How can 71 people not like this? One of my favorite musicals...sigh...wish they made things like this now...May she rest in peace.
that might be due to the gay connotations that the scene supposedly represented. This was what the Celiloid Closet an otherwise, stupid documentary tried to claim a couple of decades ago.
I performed this as a solo and I am proud of it and I'm proud that I chose this song.
It's now January 6 2022. One of her fellow Hollywood Stars, Betty White, passed away December 31st 2021. I wonder if they ever worked together on any charitable work because they both had a lifelong passion of helping animals. Rest in peace to both
And she did this in one take. What a pro. Last of the Hollywood greats. RIP lovely lady.❤
Wow, that's awesome 👍. My mom cries every time she hears her name. She'd like to know who broke her heart? If she died with a lonely heart...

Wow Doris's voice is so beautiful and angelic 🥰 I could watch and listen to her sing all day long 🥰

Wish I has a make-up mirror that pulled off that trick!

She was the best singer on the planet
The movie Calamity Jane has to be seen to believe how versatile her emotional and physical acting is. They say the movie stars aren't like they used to be. I'll say!

Roger Ebert, the late film critic, called Doris ''the actress I respect the most'' and then said, ''I don't know what she had, but we're never going to see it again.''
A beautiful lady who sing wonderfully. God bless you Doris Day.
Thank you.

May God Bless & Hold Close Ms. Day. Prayers For Her Family & Friends. Thanks For Your Beautiful Life Lady.
Simply gorgeous
