    Recently I was at Sephora, looking at whole replica line and guerlain line, just sniffing bottles by myself, when sales associate suddenly came and took me to gentleman line by givency. Just sprayed society and gave it to me, I was yeah yeah nice one. Then he proceeded to tell me that it is an exclusive fragrance made especially for Qatar World Cup and I will not find it anywhere else… Every time I go to the store, it always something like this. They never care what you actually looking for, just trying to push you one fragrance that probably earns them the biggest commission.

She tried to convince me that there is no iris in that fragrance (there is iris). She literally screamed at me that all what i could smell is citrus notes mixed with woody notes and leather but no iris.
    2nd one in Douglas: I got laughed at because i said that i smell sothing like chocolate/cacao in Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Prive(i know there is no chocolete in this fragrance). Later i heard from 2 different youtubers that they also smell something like chocolate in this fragrance.

    Just yesterday I was talking to a friend about this issue because she was looking to go fragrance shopping. I've had so many encounters with people just doing their job, but not really being knowledgeable about fragrances and either making suggestions based on the few scents they knew, or trying to sell you something really expensive. I get it, it's sales and not everybody has an unconditional love for the product they're selling. What bothers me most is when they start making up facts or stuff about scents just because they think it makes them come across as competent.

There is only one kiosk in the malls by me. A private seller who actually knows notes frag styles and can talk about niche frags confidently and IT’s because he owns his own store.

    To add a bit more context to my little story:
    When I said

    I meant that this spokesperson lady had already received the new 2021 version in stock, and I had to literally instruct her to look through her own cabinets to take it out, because she just could not believe what I was telling her, and kept arguing with me 😮‍💨
    On a separate occasion, and this time with a sales rep from the actual store, I was told Versace Pour Homme had "NOTHING" in common with neither Missoni Wave nor Chanel Allure Homme Sport 😂
    Needless to say, their business isn't doing so well nowadays 😅

    What’s crazy is you said 99% of the time you want to buy the clone brands online. Like a week ago I was in NYC for the day and I stopped in a side shop that I saw a bunch of fragrances in the window and one of them was “lataffa Safeer” which I’d never seen in person before but had it in my shopping cart. So I naturally went in and talked to the 2 guys who owned it for a while and they were amazing and I actually ended up pretending liked I worked there and sold a fragrance to a guy 😂😂😂. I asked the price of safeer and lataffa rose petals to which he responded “$25 for safeer and $15 for rose petals” and I looked at the bottom of the packaging to check the codes and stamps as far as my knowledge goes it’s %100 authentic. So my point being I found that 1% and that makes the experience that much better!!!

    Why did the Guerlain fragrances in general go up so much in price? I remember some years back you'd find Guerlain Vetiver, Habit Rouge, L'Instant, Ideal, etc for under $50, sometimes cheaper

    • @masterhand20
      @masterhand20 Год назад

      Idk about that house specifically but two things likely are happening if you are referring to their discounted prices. Firstly, the house could have increased the price at retail which automatically makes them more expensive on discount. They also could have started controlling their suppliers a little tighter preventing them from ending up in countries where they wouldn’t have a valuable exchange rate allowing the grey market to purchase and sell them for cheap. They also may have begun to sue or threaten the discounters. Also, inflation, big time inflation. When America has a suffering economy it damages the whole world’s economy, and it even dips into luxury goods. Post pandemic the price on Sauvage Elixir went from 155, to 165, and now it’s about 180 something, and that all from the house itself. Also, hella worth it btw but still no fun.

    • @squidikka
      @squidikka Год назад +3

      @@masterhand20 Prices for Guerlain fragrances have doubled, sometimes almost tripled at discounters. Availability is really low as well. I think you are probably right about them regulating suppliers. It makes the most sense. Really a shame because I always considered them one of the best bang for your buck houses given the affordable pricing and stellar mature, classier fragrances.
      I got Lattafa Asad instead of Sauvage Elixir and consider it an excellent compromise. I just can't justify the price on Elixir when Asad is worlds cheaper and smells close enough in the air. I could nearly get 5-8 quality Arabic clones or original fragrances for one bottle of Elixir. I completely understand why people get the authentic OG product though. I suppose in the end it depends on your disposable income, and thanks to inflation, mine is extremely limited. My last "big" purchase was The One Luminous Night, which was well worth the $100 I paid.

    • @RPD91
      @RPD91 Год назад

      They changed their bottles at least 2 times and lowered their production I believe. They also ,in my opinion, think they are a high quality niche house fit for royalty recently especially after introducing their private line.

      @masterhand20 Год назад

      @@squidikka Understandable. I’m a massive fan of Francois Demachy, the last in house perfumer for Dior, and think his work with the house was genius and Sauvage Elixir was his magnum opus in the men’s line. So for me my big purchases as of late have been trying to find Dior Homme Original, Intentse, and Parfum, when they pop up here in the US.

    EdC, EdT and Parfum used to be just different concentrations so it's no wonder people still belive this is still the case. Them being different scents is a new trend and the earliest example I can think was Chanel with their Bleu. Sauvage took the trend to a whole new level

    "pretty bourgeoise"
    No, bourgeoise is middle-class. Sak's is def above that pay grade. Noone who is middle class has 800$ to spend on a white t-shirt with a small, barely noticeable logo.

    Im not gonna call it worst advice but more obnoxiously annoying. If you make commission on colognes i understand you trying to reccomend the cologne you make commission on, but please stop arguing with me and almost trying to force me to buy mercedez benz black or any of their other ones. Legit would not give me the tom ford grey vetiver i asked for and kept insisting mb is better and thats the one i want. I walked out of the store empty handed because she adamantly refused to give me anything other then mercedez benz cologne. ALL the stores near me are like that, so now i get everything online, even samples. Especially since every time i ask to sample a cologne, no matter what it is, no matter how many times i ask in a row they just instead keep giving me samples of mb cologne until you smell one you like then try to quickly cash you out for a bottle before you even say yes or no. Its almost obnoxious to me so i stopped sampling or buying anything from them and only shop online now.

    I REALLY dont get the hate for Joop Homme. It is by far my most complimented fragrances and chicks have been LOVING it on me for years. Summer, Winter, doesnt matter.

    Fragrance sellers especially at dept stores responsibilities need to change. They need to be supporters instead of thinking their advisors. Lol just support me when i ask a question. But your ill advised advice is unnecessary. I have yet to meet a sales person that has been more knowledgeable than me in the fragrance realm. They are salesman and will make a regular joe feel that they're expert's and thats their job to SALE you! 🥴

    I love watching your videos but with this new editing with all those subtitles and skipping moments all the time to make it more tik tok brain friendly is just too much.
    I found myself trying to avoid your videos lately. Before I used to jump straight to your new video, now I just know that I have to go through all these RUclips shorts sort of editing and is not pleasant.
