You didn't hear about them because the music media and industry has their favorites. If you're not among the chosen few you get little press or attention. Without the press and attention how would anyone know of you or have heard about you? If you're lucky, you have a friend that turned you on to them. Me, I went to the record store several times a week in the '70's and '80's and went through the albums (no cd's at that time) and checked out the albums. Most albums I bought because the band's made it clear they were metal, I had never heard them. There was no way to hear them, there was no internet, no radio station that would play heavy metal, so you either learned about them through the few people you knew that were in to metal, or you did as I said at the record stores. From their first album I have been in love with Manowar's music. It NEVER disappoints. They fuckin kill, and yes, I intentionally misspelled the word fuk to keep the sencors off me.
