      @@douglas4285 Im ok with losing, but there is an exploit with secret missions right now. An army can sit in their deployment zone with killy fixed secondaries and guarantee that the get to draw the secret mission, complete it and that player gets their 90 point cap for free. Unless you can score 91 vp with an entire Tau or Guard battery mowing you down over the game you mathematically cannot win. Thats why, and I am referring to the competetive scene, I play casually and its unlikely Ill play against a cheeselord like that in that setting.

    I’m sorry if this is already a video you have made, but have you thought about doing a “Leviathan Last Impressions” type video where you talk about your feelings on how the first season of 10th edition went and how you feel about the general state of 40K? You have a LOT of games under your belt so I’d be interested to hear your thoughts.

  • @Ezcendant
    @Ezcendant 3 месяца назад +2

    Perhaps I miss understood what you said, but secret missions score on your primary and cap it at 40 (20+20). You can NOT score 15 primary AND 20 more from unbroken wall on the same turn unless you've only scored 5 points or less on primary all game. You also can't secret mission if you're winning on primary, so if you're in a position to score max, and your opponent isn't, you're likely not even allowed to do it.

  • @johnnyohm4579
    @johnnyohm4579 3 месяца назад +1

    The assumption that that slamming a secret mission is gonna secure you the win is going off the idea that you and your opponent both are scoring next to no primaries. It caps you at 40 primaries.

    Crazy, I completely disagree. The tactical cards in leviathan had so many impossible, dead draws. Bring it down with 0 vehicles, Capture enemy Outpost or Behind enemy Lines on turn 1, etc
    Every card in Pariah feels doable. it just gives fewer points.

  • @garbagecan755
    @garbagecan755 3 месяца назад +5

    I thought all the people who liked tactical just preferred to play that way. Why is it a problem that tactical is less powerful now, when fixed was objectively the worse way to play for the past 6 months? Now that it's change, why is it NOW a problem that the "fun way to play" isn't powerful? I had people dogpile me for saying I found tactical extremely unfun at the start of the edition and I have found it extremely unfun to have to play it for the past 6 months, and I've been enjoying the past week or so of playing the new missions significantly more because the deck feels less like it's giving you a random 20 point swing and more like if you play consistently well you can score well.
    I guess it never really was about it being the "more fun way to play" and was always about "forcing everyone to play the way I want to". If people weren't lying about their takes originally, they'll still enjoy the next year of significantly more balanced play between the two styles. Otherwise, they were liars who just wanted to force people who didn't want to play Maelstrom to play Maelstrom with them. You're welcome to prefer that style of play, stop trying to take mine away from me because you need me to play your way to enjoy yourself.

    • @SeddersShots
      @SeddersShots 3 месяца назад +1

      It's always people wanting to force others to play how they prefer to play, its always about how "fun" the game is until they might lose to someone else having fun.
      There are no players in any game that care about winning more than people in the 40k community who "don't care about winning"

    I feel the fixed missions will be a good option for the start of the new season, unless you have all objective scores in your list and constantly screen I don’t see the lethality will be as high as leviathan. Fixed missions allows you to built a lethal list while focusing on the action for only the primary missions. Ive only played maybe 3-4 PN games so this take is most likely incorrect but just an idea.

    • @MikePhumanaut
      @MikePhumanaut 3 месяца назад +1

    So far, I've only played one match with Pariah Nexus rules and I'm torn on the secondaries. On the one hand, I like that you actually have to put in some work to score secondaries. Stuff like investigate signals, which was just like: "You, stand in that corner over there" was nice to score a couple of guaranteed points, but also a bit stupid and non-interactive. On the other hand, I feel that the secondaries that take one round to complete put some armies a lot more at a disadvantage than others and sometimes, the effort you would have to put in just doesn't feel worth the points you might get. This might of course change with the new dataslate and new ways of building lists. Overall, I don't mind the slower scoring, if the scoring is indeed slower for everyone. I think it was way too easy to score full secondaries in Leviathan, which sometimes made primary scoring almost an afterthought.

    The only hope I see for Tyranid is that they reduced even more points until we can use infantry unit as a battle line like bring max 10 of 3 squad of gene with max 3 squad of ravenger and as many warrior as you can bring instead of normal batteline in order to play just a casual normal game. If not I not see any other way, unless Tyranid secretly get codex redo which is very very highly unlikely.

      The problem with that is that it's already very hard to transport 2000 point of Tyranid to have a game at FLGS. If the point reduce further now I need 2 bigbags of model now and it will be very difficult to even walk.

      @@ElGrompho666 the reason why admech get reboot because their codex is down right unplayable by any means. I doubt that would be the case of Nids. I need to see if the secret mission exploit for Guard, Tau and Eldar is guaranteed like we thought. Are there rules or things in Pariah Nexus that prevent the guaranteed win? If so just refusing to play those factions will do a lot of damage to the social side of 40k

    • @DiceandGlory
      @DiceandGlory 3 месяца назад

      What's the exploit?

    • @SumsieBun
      @SumsieBun 3 месяца назад

      @@DiceandGlory it has to do with secret missions in the new pariah nexus. They cap your primary vp at 20 and give you 20 vp if you complete a secret mission that you get to pick. The exploit is essentially deployment zone camping, but only a few factions can max secondaries while also camping: Tau, Guard, and maybe Eldari if their nerf isn’t too bad. Essentially really long range shooty armies.
      Pick fixed secondaries, either something Killy or something you can farm reliably to max, and since you own your backfield objective, at turn 3 (where you choose a secret mission if you have a lower score) you will have you 20 vp cap no matter what and are guaranteed the secret mission. Complete it, which is extremely easy, and you hit the point cap of 90 vp. You are guaranteed to win by victory points unless your opponent can score 91 vp with you just mowing down everything with heavy gunfire the entire game.
      We need to see if this turns out irl like it would in theory, so watch those table in tournaments: Tourney players will be all over this for free wins
