At the time, he had his daughters living with him. It's far too big for one person and the occasional hanger-on Sarah

He's in violation of his lease agreement and has been given over a year's notice and handed a newly renovated manor home on castle grounds to live in even though he's a terrible tenant. FWIW, the Queen bought he and Fergie a brand new mansion as a wedding gift. It was called Sunninghill and those two never did a thing to maintain it and managed to run it to ruin within a decade of it being built. It had to be demolished. They ended up abandoning it after the Queen mum died and moved into the Royal Lodge and are now running that into ruin too. They have a long history of not taking care of their properties and the best thing to do to preserve the historic building is to take it away from him.

The “lease agreement” approved by the Queen when she “gifted” Andrew the occupancy stipulated a monthly rental fee as well as the obligation to keep up all Maintanence required! That is the issue King Charles is pushing back on. Andrew does not have enough income to pay the upkeep costs…and is so arrogant and self-entitled that he thinks Charles should pay the expenses.

Unless I misheard I thought you said that Prince Andrew had a 30 year lease, but in actuality his lease is for 75 years, but conditionally part of that lease is that he must keep his home in proper working condition, and I have seen current videos of the outside of his mansion and it is turning in to a shabby dilapidated rundown building. From the deplorable condition of his mansion it would appear that he has not done any repairs in decades thus breaking his lease. It's going to cost millions and millions of dollars to repair. ❤

As an American, I’m really confused by British real estate. How can you “leave something “ when it only has a 30 year LEASE? How can you leave something that you don’t own?
Its the Crown/Royal Family estates, not "British real estate". Its a privilege given and apparently there is a requirement that all maintenance/repairs have to be kept up and Andrew has not been doing that and cannot afford to do so.
