Thank you so much for the update on the old Mysore road, I really needed this information as I was thinking of taking it in a week or two, now I am having second thoughts.
I am regular user... this road for 4-5 year horrible. Now service road is horrible. Old road still good but only few streatches are away from new road.. Hope it will be soon handover to state govt & they will maintain it. By the way Bengaluru-Mysuru is an upgraded NH...not expressway :)
Some in the group do, I used to have a SENA too. But am not a fan of constant chatter when I’m riding. I don’t find not being connected a deal breaker at all. Also, when on the ride, it’s good to disconnect even from those on the ride with you. 🙂
In India u have official speedbreakers and unofficial ones. Usually both are injurious to urs and vehicle health. Maybe govts way of encouraging us to buy SUVs and ADVs.
The service road is ok but a lot of diversions are there, after 7pm completely dark no lights disaster, no safety. The government should consider this all. Last Sunday I was visited, bikers dnt go with family night time mysore to bangalore/ bangalore to mysore
You could have as well taken the Srignagapattana-Pandavapura-Nagamangala-Hunigal.- Nelamgangal road to get back to Bengalurr, thought is is a bit longer than thie one your took, the drive would have been more enjoyable if you just want to enjoy the drive with no time limit..Of course you have quite few famour eating joints of Puneeth Rajkumar and Upendra and also quite a few Udupi restaurants on the way on either side of the road..Give it a try, if you have not taken this route..
Sir thete is another route.Via krs--melukote--nagamangala-- yediyur--kunigal..... It adds another 30Km from the normal express way..But is peaceful.. Thanks for the update. Was plan to ride in September, will take the kunighal route😇
Good morning dear Kripal - I set my clock to 11 am based on your notification 🔔. Oh my that’s a bumpy road . Some stretches are OK while others are bad . Yes this can’t be called a high was but a service lane . For the first time I could see and feel your frustration. The tea pit stop was good and informative as Abhishek provided an insight into the rationale of growing Tobacco and Ragi and Jowar . You love interacting with folks like Abhishek to enhance your knowledge. Now back to the service lane . I believe that bikers are not permitted in express was as it may lead to potential accidents despite yours being a big and heavy bike . Anyways nothing much can be done when you have “Bike breakers” every 100 meters or less . I empathise with you that the ride from Sri Ranga Patna to Chella Patna was torturous. 30 Km in one hour . Nonetheless glad you had a good lunch with some nice Dahi Vada , Rava Idli, Vada , Kesari and Coffee . Now back to riding . Now the road is good and there are so many intersections and it’s better to be safe than sorry . Finally you entered Bengaluru . So by the time you reach home you would have covered 700 Kms over a 2 day period . That’s massive . I thoroughly enjoyed the entire series . For me some wonderful moments was when you showed us a small tour of the Malabar Resort with the backdrop of the ocean . The lunch at Paris , the pit stop at the Chaaya Kada and ending up snacking 😀 The other highlight was the Insta 360 . It’s a brilliant equipment and really provides a wider experience for the viewers . Thanks dear Kripal for taking us on this virtual and memorable ride . Take care and God bless . Those speed breakers are nasty. Agree speed breakers are needed at intersections, but those in the videos just look like mountains rather than speed breakers.
Hi Kripal My apologies for commenting late on this moto ride. Thorouughly wnjoyed the ride as you and yiur friends enjoyed. Best part of this series was yiu telling ' Sudu Kerala Chaiyya ' or ' Sudu Kannur Kerala Chaiyya '. I know driving in tge Mysuru Bengaluru old road is vwry hard as you have to drive through all the road humps and cannot maitain speed. Always my pic will be Bannur - Malavalli - Kanakapura road though it is single lane but good road. Caution not visited in the recent. As you pointed there should consideration for two wheelers and three wheelers on the new road. Thanks Kripal once again for taking us on a memorable ride.

Whatever you rode on was actually the service road. The old state highway still exists and one can choose the same to ride on. Atleast not too many road humps like on the service road. I can understand the frustration after that lovely ride till Srirangapatna.
I want an India, whose roads are speed breaker free. SPEED BREAKER MUKT BHARAT is my dream. All the enjoyment driving on a highway is destroyed by a sudden speed breaker. I have also personally seen deadly accidents because of speed breaker when one car slowed down for speed breaker and another fast moving car rammed into it from behind... Last month, on a trip to Raichur, Ballari had a horrible time navigating the huge speed breakers. This is apart from the horrible roads in Manvi, rice growing belt of Raichur...
Now that the expressway has been constructed, will the old roads not be repaired or rid of so many unwarranted speed breakers? Will government close its eyes to these roads?
They should have let the old highway as it is and built a new express way so that all 2 wheelers and people who do not want to pay whopping Toll fee. That road doesnot deserve an expressway tag. Recently NHAI clarified its just access controlled highway and not an expressway. They are simply robbing road users in terms of toll charges. PB Road is far better once we cross Tumkur interms of quality of the surface and speed attainability.

Why doesnt your rider group use comms, sir? That would solve many of many of accidental detours and catching up for a quick eatery stop easy.

You should have taken the bellur cross route. For bikers that is the best option to reach blore from mysore from now on

There is 4 laning work going on of the Kanakapura Road NH948, so lot of diversions enroute

There are not too many but three many speed breakers. And those speed breakers are built in an unscientific way.

The route you refer to is the one that passes through Kananakapura - Malavalli - Bannur - Mysuru. What we took was the old highway pre-expressway.

Pls don't go in service road. Its pathetic. My car bottom got damaged in one the illogical speed breaker.
