Over here in Scotland they are fitted as standard to houses in the Highlands and are used on district heating systems, commercial premises such as schools, hotels, public swimming pools etc and there always such a hassle constantly requiring a engineer to check them more often than a gas or oil appliance, plus the cost of pellets are going up so it's more likely people will be ripping loads of these systems out and replacing with more heat pumps etc with less work involved in upkeep servicing and storage space. There a great idea but defo a hassle to have
Currently I heat my home with a pellet stove installed in the basement & it keeps my 1600 sq/ft home plenty warm for about 1/4 the cost of oil heat. Soon I will be moving to New Hampshire and one of these Pellet Boilers would be great. I love the idea of mass storage so I don't have to deal with the plastic bags plus my energy needs would be taken care of locally & my $$$ would help keep those in my community employed. If you have not noticed there is a war against fossil fuels which means natural gas, coal, heating oil & electricity prices are only going up.
How does the cost of a complete P4 system compare to a propane boiler? I’m aware that the cost of running pellets is cheaper but what about the system itself?
Hi John. As with all renewable energy systems the initial costs are higher than fossil fuel options. In general, we find that a Froling wood pellet boiler system will be about two times the price of a gas or oil boiler system. We are working hard to compete directly with gas and oil. The Froling PE1 goes a long way to reduce up front cost and we will be uploading a PE1 video very soon.
Hi Drew. Indoor pellet storage is simple and common. I suggest that you look at the Froling Cube or the RS4 manual suction system. Froling Pellet boilers can be designed to integrate or control the heat distribution system in many different ways. Pellet boilers should no run constantly as it will significantly reduce efficiency and increase emissions. We design all boiler system to integrate seamlessly with the heat distribution system. whats best way to clean broadband sensor? developed a fault. just wondering if its like the mass flow sensor in a car. I have a 99kw T4 boiler for commercial use
You should refer to the T4 maintenance manual as it describes the cleaning procedure for the broadband sensor. When cleaning the sensor, never use compressed air and always power down and disconnect the sensor before handling. A brass or steel brush and a vacuum are your friends!
Goudrelle the combustion conditions are modulated according to the oxygen concentration in the flue gas, flue gas temperature, boiler temperature, heat load, set points, etc. This ensures high combustion chamber temperatures and low emissions. That’s a long way of saying that the boiler controls the combustion temperature.
I know that, but I was looking to see a comparaison....Let me ask in a different way, what is the maximum temperature that burner can acheive inside that combustion chamber ? 1500 F ?? Would it be possible for that burner to acheive that temp with out any parameter ??
Goudrelle the P4 is designed for automation, efficiency and ease of use. We do not provide the customer with the ability to monitor or control the combustion temperature. We only offer this type of control on larger, commercial boilers.
I dont want to control or monitor the temps !!!! We have here in my country the possibility to have pellets that offer greater temps than plain hard wood pellets....But no problem, I guess you are not qualified to answer a tech question.....Delete my question, I'll turn for another type of burner........Thank you
Thanks for clarifying your needs. Yes, the Fröling P4 will automatically modulate the combustion conditions to burn wood pellets with high net calorific value. We find that softwood pellets coming out of several mills in Northern Ontario fall into this category. Please keep in mind that the P4 has primary and secondary combustion air control, a three-pass heat exchanger and a variable speed induced draft fan to optimize combustion and efficiency.
That can be true with some space heating appliances. Our boiler systems operate reliably for 1-2 months without requiring any attention. Typically our systems need to have the ash emptied every couple months with no more than two cleanings annually. A thorough cleaning should not take more than an hour.
dude what? I myself have a pellet boiler from a different company, and i empty the ash tray about every 300 hours. takes a solid 5 minutes. i refill the 200kg silo every 4-6 days in the winter based on weather, takes a solid 10 minutes. i could get all this pellet feed automated but i dont mind, i am 32 and got 10 minutes to spare. And i got 5 years full warrenty and after that a normal service once a year, i will never change anything.
If you get any moisture in pellets they clog up and shut down.if you get cheaper brand of pellets they may burn incorrectly soot up more and shut down due to lack of maintenance.the company I work for is the largest in Britain we install commercial, industrial, and domestic biomass, gas ,ashp, chp units and more and believe me when I say it biomass are a hassle constantly requiring maintenance.but it's like anything you could buy a brand new car and it brakes down constantly.but out of all your options they are defo the most likely to cause problems.scottish local councils are spending hundreds of thousands alone just in the highlands just to replace them in schools and council property's as there so bad.
Well i got a froling p4 pellet 48 since awhile in france. Seemt to be a good one execpt few things. 1rst i got issue many time with a captor on top of the pellet tank. It Got "stuck" with just fine dust and the froling allways stopped couldnt turn back on. Plus if the tank is empty you r screwed.. ive never find the way to automaticaly or manualy fill it up so any time the machine started to light the fire up..not pallet so no heat at all. Need a technician to fix it though. Also the manual is bullshit.
Hi. Sorry to hear that the fill sensor needs some tuning. The P4 48 has a brush that cleans this sensor after each fill. Perhaps the brush has been moved out of alignment and is not cleaning the sensor properly? If you are using wood pellets with a high content of fines then you may want to consider installing a de-duster to remove fines from the fuel. A de-duster is standard on the P4 80/100, but we can use them on the P4 48 if the fuel quality is high in fines. You can manually fill the hopper on the boiler through Manual>Manual operation>Manual filling of pellet container>"YES". You can download the current manuals in the Products section of our website. These are the North American manuals so we do recommend that you contact you installer in France to get the European manuals.

How many killowatts for a domestic machine?
Most average residential heat loads in Canada will range from 8-25kW.

Is an outdoor silo necessary or can there be something inside the building? Is the unit constantly running waiting for heat to be called?
