On 5:42 you can see that the numbers on the measuring tape refer on the big line just before them. On 5:49, what I see at the measuring tape is 112, not 117mm.

Do you know if it is possible to engrave a 2mm deep design in different laps? Would each lap engrave in exactly the same place or would there be a difference in position as the laps passes?

I recently bought this machine but I have an issue with the rotary device. Testing with the rectangle as you used, it travels perfect on Y+ direction but in Y- the travel is too short (2mm less than Y+), also checked it manually moving and it doesn't back to the same spot on Y-.
Any advice on this?
Hi, nice video! When you do your initial test with the wooden rod, it seems you do not read the tape measure correctly. The rod is not 117 mm, but 112 mm. And voila, that what your test says. I am also confused with these tape measures every time an have to double check I read them correctly.

I did the same to use the rotary, but when I connected cable A or B, I simply took a step to the left and one to the right, I had problems with both cables, and one of them did nothing, the other only did what was mentioned before , disconnect and go back to make some cuts, the Y axis kept doing the same thing, one step to the right and one to the left, I can't correct that.

Thank you so much for the video, I followed all your steps and it works great! But I have a PROBLEM that is killing me! I’m trying to engrave a glass bottle with a complex logo but it overlaps many traces when the size of the logo is about the half of the bottle. I don’t know if is the speed of the laser when goes back and forth and probably moves the bottle. I’m using a SculpFun s30 and the same rotary tool in this video. Is there something I’m missing? How do you know where to set your roller distance? Of course you can’t have the distance to far otherwise it wouldn’t hold the dowel.
Also I’m trying 2 do a tumbler that’s tapered, so would I set the height of laser at highest or lowest?
Measure the distance just as you normally do. It is important to level the tumbler by raising up the end to have the engraving area level. Then measure the height of the laser to the surface of the tumbler as you would with anything else
Hello, Mr. but I have a big problem with the rotating roller. Last Thursday I got 2 SCULPFUN. products, and to this day I barely use the rotating roller. Since when using it, the rollers do not rotate as much as the glass that is placed on top.
Even the band doesn't tour, and stays in the same place. I removed the belt to leave the engine on its own, but it continued doing the same thing.
Is there a solution? Does it have something to do with the A/B Line Cables?

how can I engrave on 30oz tumbler? as this roller does not adjust to make the tumbler even. please
So I just got my rotary roller set up the other night after watching your video it was super easy - thank you for that! Now I have been playing with different things and one problem I keep running into is the item moving on the rollers. For example I did a tumbler that was concaved. I did adjust the image to fit on the concaved cup but as the laser was working away the cup itself shifted on the rollers and so therefor the design was messed up. So long story short my question is - how do I keep the object from moving back and forth on the rollers?
You will need to test different things. I’ve used tape, rubber bands and even blocked the end so that it would not move. Get creative and see what works
just wondering if you have any tips my good man , no matter what i do on my sculpfun s9 lately all my engravings are leaving lines through it , whether it be png , or jpg all done on imag-r , they have set all the changes automatically , i'm completely lost now.
just to say. when i click tools got no option in my version, but notice that on yours its saying CNTR+SIFT+R . a window its popup (just for the pips who r beginners as im)
Thank you so much for the great content. I tried to do my first tumbler...BUT I can seem to get the photo right in lightburn It wants to almost go in more than a full revolution to frame....Any pointers?
Forget the image. Draw a rectangle the size of the circumference and one to two mm wide. Adjust the settings from there until you get one revolution. Another way is to draw a square around your image. Run the job on very low power and measure the size. Adjust the square until it matches the size of you image. It may look a little distorted on the screen but it will engrave properly.

Hi, I have seen your video just now because I bought a similar roller quite recently. My comment is the following: I don't see any real tool adjustment, but just a measure of the object diameter. If you want to engrave an image at exact dimensions you want, you have to scale down the size of your image (height by width) by 112/117, else you would produce a bigger engraving than expected. Am I right or wrong?
have you tried engraving a 30oz tumbler ... my engraving seems to engrave short and with even though the imagen is square

The major reason is so the audience can see the laser better. The second reason is that occasionally the lens will hit the jaws when engraving

Yes, you can have object longer than the rollers

I have the sculpfun s6 pro and bought the atomstack y axis rotary roller (before the sculpfun came out). It’s connected same as sculpfun, but it does not rotate while etching. It does rotate when I click frame. Any ideas?
Make sure you are connected to the y axis for the rotary

I think i got it. For some reason the image needs to be mirrored in lightburn before it will come out correctly on the cup. I followed your steps and lowered the power until i got it to cut the paint off the cups. Your awesome man. I thank you so much.

Yes, your calibration is off. You will need to calibrate your machine. First determine if both the x and y axis are off or just one axis. Here is a video on how to calibrate you machine. Even though this is a different machine the process is the same.

How big is a square
A square is a little generic. A square foot is 144 square inches. What are you actually asking?
I like your videos.
In this video you keep referring that the dowl was 112mm when in fact you measured 117mm. The 5mm difference is caused by the ESteps not being calibrated correctly. This is no different than what you would to calibrate a 3D printer.
Now what you did to correct it was resize the image. This will work overall but it could skew the image if you were doing an image and you only adjusted in one direction.
The real question would be can you do a EStep calibration on the machine using G Code and a slicer software and would the ESteps be that same for the motor on the rotary as well as the Y axis motor? They should be the same because it's the stepper controller that is sending the PWM signal.
By setting the proper ESteps then you wouldn't have to make an image adjustment each time.
I only pointed this out because you kept saying the circumference was 112 after you measured 117. I wanted to make sure you're passing good information to your viewers. Some folks may measure with a set of calibers and do the math: Diameter * 3.14. Either way (tape or caliber) will get you the actual circumference.

What if you are engraving a coloured metal drinks bottle and you can not do a calibrating test as it will ruin it
Have an extra bottle for test engraves. You can do multiple test with one cup to dial in the settings where you want them
Why don't you use the red protective cover? I guess it's dangerous for you to use it like that.
I often remove the cover so that you as the viewer can see better. I do take extra precaution in my shop
can you use this with the Falcon10
I am not familiar with a falcon10 laser. The only Falcon 10 that I am aware of is a $75m jet aircraft. Little out of my budget. Lol
