I have agree with you. OPI really needs to hire someone older than 14 in the naming department. I see some of the names of their polishes and my eyes roll so hard I have an Exorcist head spinning moment. What's even funnier is every single person around me is laughing and saying, "I know right?" Maybe they'll do better if we send them our chiropractor bills.
The thing is the OPI names used to be so good! And ever since they came out with that zodiac holiday collection their naming has been so lazy and eye-roll-y. I used to love their names! Specially the city-related ones

The colors are almost a summer into fall, soft color edition. Bold of OPI to think out of the box for spring. But, those names, ugh. Part of the joy of OPI was their play on words.
Yes, I didn’t give them enough credit for adding versatile toppers and some unconventional colors for spring. I got stuck on the names.
Thanks so much for sharing and I agree, you are *not* mean, someone was having a very bad day when they named this collection and did the colour descriptions.
Brilliant review Jess and thank you so much for all the comparisons! They are so helpful! Unfortunately I am not interested in buying any of these polishes and it definitely has to do with the names and the marketing in general. It just seems to me like OPI are running out of ideas. And I saw something about the next collection being called "My Me Era" ?? I just miss OPI doing collections about different countries, like classic collections like Iceland, Scotland, etc, they were just full of wonder and possibility. I just think these new themes are narcissistic and uninspiring :( Just my opinion.. I totally agree with all your comments about these!
Agreed.
I think when they moved away from geographical themes they started trying to make every collection in a year fit within the same theme. So I would expect the rest of this year’s collections to have a similar vibe. Hopefully with names that are less painful to say out loud.

Glazed and Amused and the other sheer frosty sort of colors are great as toppers. I love Kyoto Pearl. I’ve used it as a topper and alone. It’s so versatile.

I am living for the snark. So many reviewers are afraid to rattle their relationship with brands that they go over the top with flattery (it's so yummy, I love their perfect formulas, the name references my mostest favorite thing). I love you side eyeing their names, it's absolutely justified and ofc your reviews are impartial. Keep it up!

So funny, we picked the same two polishes from this disappointing boring collection. I use GelColor in my studio, so I brought those two in gel polish. OPI have been so hit or miss over the past year. I also agree with you regarding the childish polish names, i'm so over OPI trying to be 'down with the kids'.
I hope they go back to the much loved 'Destination' collections really soon and quit with the boring toppers (I'm all for getting a black flakie topper though 😂). They need to start bringing out more interesting finishes like they used to like with the DS polishes and Liquid Sand as it was something different. 🤞🏾

This collection is a little discombobulated with some very fall shades mixed in with spring/summer shades. OPI needs to grow up with their cringy names! 🙄

Glitterally shimmer is my favourite! I have some of OPI nail polishes, they are expensive in my country so I bought mine on the sale! I'm yacht leaving is very pretty nail polish, I'm searching for a dupe of Bourjois Turquoise block but I can't find anything similar, and that bright! I had China Glaze Too yacht to handle and it has so crappy formula so I put him in a trash 😁

JESS! When are you going to do a new release of your own brand again? You made the BEST mustard yellow crelly that exists in this world! All of your crellies are magnificent, but that one is the only yellowish polish flattering on my skintone. I still have it, but it is so old now.

I like Material Girl and Glazed (surprisingly) the best, I liked the yellow and tan also but just not my preference with my skin tone personally

The only polish I purchased was Glazed and Amused. And honestly that was the only name that didn’t bother me.
Thank you for all the effort on the comparisons 🙏. The collection is okay, but dang if I don’t miss well-curated and properly themed collections. Also the names were memorable and part of what made OPI classy (Mermaids tears, what a name!). I won’t remember any of the names from the last few collections. Maybe the PR department does not care 🤷♀️.
There's no one else I'd rather sass OPI for their stupid names with. I always appreciate your hilarious comments! My local chemist only has a couple of these including Self Made which I really like as I don't have a green like it.

I decided to re-named my new O.P.I for the s… and giggles and been having fun with it! I’ve always done this whenever I don’t like the name of my nail polish. But I love the colors O.P.I provides for the most part. I’ve been neglecting my poor Essie.☕️👽

It’s a previously released one, but I don’t know what batch it’s from. I think I have a realllly old bottle somewhere as well but this one has the newer logo. I wore 3 coats for a deeper purple.

Hi! I just sub'd. 😀 I loved your review, and while I do like this collection (I bought all 12), I completely agree with your comment on the lame names. Ugh lol I have actually loved the OPI shade puns for years, but the recent collections have such unimaginative names. I think it all went downhill since they stopped their Country and City collections. I really miss those. I think OPI is trying to capture a younger customer, but it is an epic fail. I used to equate OPI with a more sophisticated target audience, but now I am not sure what opi is, exactly. I loved your comparison segment, too. INHO, Spice Up Your Life and the darker brown one, both remind me of the brown shades from the old OPI Nordic collection! I own both, and wish I had seen your video before purchasing the entire collection. Other vloggers showed those browns as being much warmer in tone. Yours shows the true, more neutral beige tone of SUYLife. . Those tones are horrible on my olive tanned skin. Yuck. I wish the lighter brown was warmer. I hope the darker one is as reddish a brown as your video actually shows, but my bottle looks more plain chocolate brown. :/ Great video! Thanks!

Color is SO hard to dial in. You can have it perfect on your end and then it changes when RUclips process it. I’ve seen huge differences on the same video when viewed on different devices and even different browsers on the same device.

I don’t think the names would put me off from buying them if I didn’t have to say them out loud. To me it felt more like someone around my age trying to name polishes to appeal to a younger generation, but not quite having a grasp on what they’re really like.

I am with you on the nudge. Oof. All the names are horrible. It's like a dad in a 00's teen comedy trying to explain how cool he is. I can't imagine going into a salon and having to say any of these names.
I think everyone involved in naming the polishes should have to say them aloud to people outside of the company, in several public settings, before they’re finalized 😂

I agree! I went from loyal OPI fan to not buying their collections at all just because of their themes and names. I guess I fit into that annoyed millenial stereotype because these really annoyed me!
I don’t think I’d shy away from a name as a consumer, but doing these reviews and having to say them all out loud is just so embarrassing. To be fair, some of this slang came from “back in our day” 😂

These names are rough. I really just face palm sometimes. 🤦♀️. Someone actually thought these were SO trendy and relevant. They just sound so dorky.
Your snarky attitude on the other hand made me laugh out loud though! The descriptions were wildly off and definitely needed to be called out on. Overall this collection wasn't anything mind blowing or unique. Some were pretty, but you can find them by other brands.
There were some nice ones, and to be fair the $ sign in $elf Made is probably because it’s green and so is money. But saying them out loud is just so embarrassing
