    Find this brand more luxurious than other Chinese cars

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  9 месяцев назад +2

      I don't disagree on their attempt to be more "luxurious", but again - we don't have much to choose from in AU. If we had, say, Geely, the competition between Chinese brands would look more interesting....

      Looks like the topic is gaining momentum on my channel, so yes I'll likely translate some extra insights into Tiggo 7 from overseas. Unfortunately, I foresee that the sales on it here in AU won't be amazing due to the higher pricing than one would reasonably see value at with Chinese vehicles these days.

    • @kabelobrian4540
      @kabelobrian4540 9 месяцев назад

      @ValueCarsAU thank you so much. I know a lot of people would really appreciate this as well. In South Africa, the prices are really, really good, to a point where people are starting to question whether or not there's a catch with these prices or not. In my opinion, I don't believe that there's a catch. Our country is part of a joint venture type of deal with China since they are key members of BRICS. That is why the taxes aren't as bad when having to bring and make these cars here rather than maybe in Europe. That's what I think.

    I've had my Ultimate model in the Mecurial Grey for just over a week. Very smooth drive and every drive gets better and better. Amazing tech and very luxurious interior for the money.
    The DMS "Driver Monitoring System" can be disabled as it says in the Manual but the option is missing on mine. I am going to bring it up at my 1000km inspection. Hopefully it's just a simple software upgrade.

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  9 месяцев назад +1

      Let us know how you go with the software upgrade. I don't think you can disable it *permanently*. You can only turn it off every time after restarting the car. But I'd be happy to be wrong on this point.

    • @VanDammage87
      @VanDammage87 9 месяцев назад

    Chery have sold over 20K vehicles since returning to South Africa. Now 5th highest sellers in the country. The lane assist is a mandatory requirement for manufacturers and you switch it off at your own risk. In an accident your insurance, in some countries may not cover you if it is switched off. So blame legislation and not the car companies.

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  9 месяцев назад

      I don't really care who makes this decision, but simply comment from a driver's perspective - those systems are annoying, especially if they are poorly/cheaply tuned. I have one in my new Subaru. So far it feels great. Insurance won't cover you if you switched those systems off? Barbaric.

  • @juki6377
    @juki6377 9 месяцев назад +4

    i saw one of these recently, my impression was it is made nice and shiny but in a few months maybe years the quality of the interior is just going to disintegrate. I'm not into electric vs analog but you explained this well in the video and you can live with it i suppose. Ergonomics for controls were ok. Being tall i felt the car pretty uncomfortable, no tilt or adjustment for the steering wheel, thats a first in a long time... it did feel pretty good spacewise in the back but so do many brands these days. i did like its "compact-ish" feel, from the outside. I think you are correct with the brand's pricing strategy but i think its a bad decision, i see that pricetag and i just think it is waaaay overpriced or what you get or i dont have any special particular reason to go for this vs others (you say they are nice people what about after sales services???) - if the brand wasnt novel and the styling so unusual i wouldnt have bothered to even look

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  9 месяцев назад

      Completely agree with your summary (and that's what more or less the Russian channels are saying too... shiny at first, higher quality of life, etc, not made to last - especially under severe weather conditions).

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah it's weird. Lots of weird cost-saving cuts, even though the car was headed to a much more generally prosperous market. It's a case of them saving $100 on construction of the vehicle and losing the whole sale as a lot of people would have picked a different car entirely.

  • @darroncrick9993
    @darroncrick9993 9 месяцев назад +1

    I disagree with your "price represents buyer perception of Chinese vehicles". The Chinese proposition is one of value and the past few years had lolled the Chinese manufacturers into falsely thinking otherwise. The Tiggo is coming close to Honda pricing which is nuts. The value proposition is gone so why would you buy one? Resale value tells you that these vehicles are now overpriced in this post Covid world and unless the Chinese realise this they are doomed to be overrun by the rest of the market as sanity is gradually restored with regards to supply.
    You can see that the Chinese manufacturers are taking a different approach with their EVs in the sense they are working hard to maintain that value proposition and are dominating the market as a result. Perhaps they no longer care about the ICE market and are just offering cars to fill gaps in their range whilst their main focus is on pushing EVs as hard as they can.
    Really the last 2 paragraphs can be condensed into the simple statement of," Nope, too expensive"

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  9 месяцев назад

      Lol we don't disagree mate - you misunderstood what I was saying (or I said it badly). I'm saying that this pricing represents their attempt to employ this aggressive tactic to swing for the fences and tell others "we're expensive = we're just as good!" I applaud them for being bold in a market where you kinda have to either be "cheap", or you have to swing for the fences and then MAYBE win (somewhere). I absolutely agree with you (and said it in many other videos) that Chinese are getting dangerously close to Japanese etc underestimating "legacy" perception and behavioural economics of an average Aussie Oi-Oi consumer. Tiggo 7 sales are going to tank.

    yes much too expensive - I decided against the 7 Pro as I was upset that they bought in the model with the cheap fake looking plastic (in front of the passenger seat) instead of the model they get in (right hand drive) South Africa that has beautiful (fake) leather right across the dashboard
