- Imagine what it would be like to own a secluded hunting lodge in New Zealand’s Southern Alps surrounded by glacier-covered mountains, expansive rivers and rugged bushland. Now, consider the real possibility of it. Manuka Point Station Lodege, 3196 Double hill Run Road, Rakaia Gorge, New Zealand is on the market for $25 Million.
A sizable slice of the South Island, developed over more than two decades by one family, has become available as an investment and business opportunity for the adventure-minded.
Set in a prime hunting location, Manuka Point Station has attracted a worldwide clientele. Big game species include Himalayan tahr, a type of wild goat; chamois, a goat-antelope bovine; and wapiti deer. Red stags, elk and wild boar are abundant.
But the appeals of the site go beyond its 100-year trophy hunting tradition. Guests can enjoy heli-skiing, jet boating, fishing, hiking or simply relaxing and taking in the scenery.
At the heart of the property is the wood-clad 400-square-meter (about 4,300-square-foot) lodge. A central lounge with a fireplace serves as a communal space to plan the next day’s outing. Windows bring in mountain views. Sliding glass doors open to patio space.
