  • We are at quarters of DCFD Engine 16, Tower 3, Ambulance 16, Deputy Chief of Operations, the EMS Battalion Chief, and Water Supply Engine 56, known as Midnight Express, at 1018 13th Street Northwest, where we see Engine 16 and Tower 3 as they respond to a Box alarm for a structure fire in a laundry room at 1327 Kenyon Street Northwest between 13th Street Northwest and Park Road Northwest. In order of proximity, from closest to furthest due units, the following engines responded: Engine 21, Engine 9, Engine 24, Engine 16, and Engine 28. Truck 6 and Tower 3 were first and second due ladder companies. Battalion 4, SOC Battalion, Rescue 2, EMS 4, Ambulance 11, and Medic 3 also responded. Apparently, upon arrival, there wasn't a fire, but an overloaded dryer that started to smoke. All units were returned to quarters, except for the first due engine. Engine 16 is a 2018 Pierce Arrow XT. Tower 3 is a 2018 Seagrave Capitol with a 95-foot mid-mount aerial. Enjoy the sounds of the tones, as well as the rapid response by both companies. Your buffing in my old stomping grounds.
I worked in Greenbelt (north of DC) in the late 80's/early 90's as a Special Investigator for Insurance companies in fire and fraudcases. I lived in Annapolis and was a Volunteer Lt. with Annapolis FD Eastport Company 36.
On various weekend (when not on call) I'd chase either DCFD or BcFD/BCoFD and take 35mm shots.
Now retired after 30yrs in Fire Service and 16 yrs as a Investigator.
    Miss those days.
