Always suspicious when a video gets launched on the 1st April Steve !! I walk my dog there nearly every weekend so will check the tree formation out now. Never heard of this TDC tree sculpture....I'm surprised you got the drone back in that freak weather !! Another great video.

    Thanks for the name-check Steve!
    The evergreens are Scots Pine...
This is on land managed by SGCT so I’ll be in touch with them! Thanks

They very kindly commented to me that this 50 year old piece of 'public art' (if that is what to call it) is possibly up for some thinning in the next few years and that they would try to retain the letters as much as they can. Also mentioned was that the Scots Pines will stand out much more in the winter. I must fly over and get some pictures if I can.

Great work! Yes, it shows up on aerial and aerial X photos quite well. The public footpath that runs through the area acts like a line at the base of each letter if you were to write it out on lined paper. I will try and fly over in my plane (out of Welshpool) which has the little known E=R in the woods at SJ 2649 0578. I am a bit limited on what I can do legally with height but it's worth a try at some stage of the year. I will try and find out more from one of the original planners if I can. MK has its Tree Cathedral but this is much more fun. As you know trees were really important in the new town. I guess, as you say, this could only be seen from the air or perhaps the other side of the gorge - Telford proclaiming it presence with aplomb to Shropshire! Whilst in the area you may want to explore Punta Verde Dr. for its unusual architecture - but that's another film I guess!
