Many years ago, when I was an history teacher, I was taking my parents on a day trip to Shropshire. I did not expect them to enjoy Wroxeter, but as it was only a short detour I said that we would go, and I promised we would not stay long. As we walked around the site, they became more and more enthusiastic, asking more and more questions. Eventually I suggested that we went on to our next destination, but all I got was, "but we haven't seen over there yet" and "can we just go back and look at that bit?" Over the years I took them to many places, yet Wroxeter was always in their top five favourite places.
There is something special about Wroxeter. It's somehow as if you feel the years drop away, and you begin to understand what life was like there.
    Well worth a visit.

I live near Wroxeter. Visiting the site has become my summer pilgrimage.

I remember watching, with great interest, the television series when the Roman villa was built. The builders used Roman technics and methods from the foundations up. Even some of the paintings on the wall were done by them. Pity the series does not appear to be on dvd.

Instead of leaving these sites in this condition. Why don't they build them up to what they were in Roman times and make it into a proper tourist attraction with events and stuff
