  • You might have heard the expression, "Don't blow out your highlights." In other words, don't let any parts of your image go completely white. But why is this so important, and how do you achieve that in landscape photography when faced with a bright sky?
Join me and my son as I create a long lens sunset shot where the sky is much brighter than the foreground. As I'm shooting, I'm struck by a simple metaphor that'll help you understand why you must expose for bright areas.
