Awesome!!! I’m gonna have to built me one like this. Thanks for the info. It’s nice to see 3 generations working together. We don’t see this that often anymore. Reminds me of the old times. Thanks.
Great video! Is there any way you could leave a list of parts you used? I’m trying to start a project and have little knowledge so would be great help thanks!
About to embark on this same thing with a Yamaha Electric cart that needs batteries replaced... I got all the bits purchased for less than batteries would have cost by quite a bit! Thanks for sharing, the existing reduction in the rear axle looks fine for a 1:1 ratio!
My wife made me buy a golf cart that supposedly had new batteries. Got it home and the batteries died right away. This conversion seems like the way to go. Would have been an even better video if it was 30 minutes long with some more detail. But thanks for the inspiration.
Congratulations on a successful build! My grandson and myself are about start an electric to gas conversion. I also was gifted a 48V cart with 8 deader than dead batteries. I had no idea how much batteries had gone up in price! So with that in mind, coupled with wanting mo power, well gas it is! We’ve got frame rust to contend with also. Our cart lived in Bolivar, Texas, at the beach. So rust rust rust! I’ve been pondering whether or not to do a complete axle swap, with an new axle assembly and engine tray mounted to a new swing arm frame or not, but man those $$$ are piling up! I was wondering how you managed the chain tension with your engine/transmission on a rigid frame mount going to a spring mounted axle. Thanks for sharing.
I just copied a gas cart style engine tray and you also can build a spring loaded chain tensioner like a motorcycle if you feel the need to. Good luck.
@@generalprinciple5921 I'am working in a project like this one. I watch the video and saw that the plate that hold the motor is welded to the rear axle. I understand this part, but my question is about the other side of the plate..How did you install it ?...is welded to the frame?.
Hey bud great build I am currently doing the exact same build. Can you give me a link to the belt you used and what was the centre to centre measurement on the cvt. Ps I am from South Africa it difficult to find the correct belts and parts. Did you make the motor plate?
All is great but one thing I am missing. Where the chain is coming off transmission to rear axle. Is there a sprocket, I can't see it? If so, what is it & size?
Sorry for the late response. Lifan 6.5 hp electric start engine (predictor or Honda .their all Honda copies) the reverse box I got EBay 2, 10 tooth sprockets and a 30 series torque converter from EBay as well. I think that’s the majority of it. Good luck!
jake reardon the engine plate hinges in the front and is welded firm (goes up and down) with the axle in the rear. So the chain does not move. You can use heim joints in the front which is best.
Hello cool build....question how did u mate the transmission to the tonque converter due to different shaft size ...eng 3/4 shaft torque converter 5/8 size shaft
Awesome build. I want to do that but I don't know what all I need and my axle is different from yours. My electric motor bolts to the rear end like a drive shaft on a truck.
What size drive belt did you use. I have the very same set up But Can't find the size of belt and where you got the belt. This would be awesome if you can tell me the size and lenght of the belt. and the number on the belt size. Thank you .
Love the video man, like the other guy awhile back said, I watched the other guy build one without reverse. He also used a torque converter instead of the cvt. I’m struggling trying to plan my build out (almost identical to yours) using a torque converter and gear box with the limited space. Where did you get the 3/4 cvt?
General Principle so I assume I need to get two, one for the motor and one for the gear box for a belt instead of a chain from a torque converter to the box?
General Principle the only gear box I’m finding/can afford only has the keyed shaft for a sprocket. Also I guess I’m still not understanding how the cvt works compared to a two pulley torque converter
Colton Zizelman you do need a two pulley CVT. That should go to a keyed shaft on the gearbox. From the gearbox via chain and sprocket for the rear end. Mine was like $50-60 on eBay. BTW what is the horse power of your engine? Your CVT needs to fit the size of your engine
Did you just weld the front of the engine plate to the cross member there or is it hinged some how? I'm going through this same process with a golf cart for my grandma and I'm having a bit of trouble figuring some things out.
I bought a 1996 club car ds, removed everything and put Ina harbor freight 420cc and put in all the mods needed to fit under the seat. How and what accelerator cable did you use to connect to the gas pedal and make it work, need help with that, thanks, any information and pics is greatly appreciated.
Tarzan Mukai I used a universal bicycle brake cable for the throttle cable and cut it to fit then hooked it to the throttle lever on my Lifan 212. It should mount similarly on yours. Hope this helps.

Eric Styer you can change the gear ratios with the chain drive coming out of the F-N-R box. I just used 10 on the front and 10 on the back which is 1:1. I only guesstimated on the speed. You can change it by altering the sprocket sizes. Good luck!
