This is the best video and list of parts and how to Ive seen! All these other clowns jack around and here u show how to do it, cheap and it works. Ive got two carts Ive been holding off doing and now Im going to! Thank you
Looks like a good solid design on the drive system. Thank you you for the close up camera work on the drive train design. Should hold up a long time and be easy to maintain.
Nice work! Im glad I came upon your video ,ran into a couple snags with the trans mounting , like what you did , but I may mount the driven pulley to the trans instead of the gear one less chain., thanks again for the info.
awesome job, awesome effort, on this great detailed instructional video. and I'm not trying to nitpick your work by any means, so I hope that I don't come off that way. I was just wondering Could you not have just mounted the secondary belt driven clutch on the transmission input shaft & just completely done away with the Jack shaft and the first chain coming off it going to the trans? we're just curious if there was reasoning behind it, or if you done another one would you do away with the jackshaft an first chain ? I do know it's much easier to improve upon a design when you can physically see it assembled(finished job)versus when it's just an idea in your head too tho. So again, just asking
Thank you for commenting If the pulley was on the opposite side on the rear end then I would have bypassed the jackshaft and did it direct but the way the rear end was set up had to use the jack shaft it was my only option at the time since the engine could not be mounted any further towards the passenger side.
Hey Jammie! Great conversion! Thanks! Hey, for the frame, is it connected to the body frame and the axle? Or just the axle? Im having trouble at this point.
Using an angle grinder without the guard? VERY risky ! I had a cut-off wheel grenade on me and a piece was stuck into the side of the garage about an inch., could have been me ! From then on, I put the guard back on and am willing to put up with whatever inconvenience it might cause. I don't want a piece of one of those sticking out of my head or body.
Hey Jamie, so I FINALLY got to test drive my conversion! When I go from neutral to reverse or drive, it breaks my chain. Ive made sure the idle is completely down. I used all the parts you included in your video... .the only installation modification I did was to mount the torque converter directly to the forward reverse in order to eliminate one chain. What do you think might be causing the hard impact on the shift?
Nice work. I don't have access to a lathe and will purchase and shaft adapter for the drive after removing motor (plan to resale motor). Do you have dimensions of the splines. Looks to be 10-spline but can't find any dimensions on the internal I.D.
Sir, I have an old EZGO golf cart I have converted from electric to gas. Everything I see here is just like what I have used and did. But my speed is SLOW. What can I change or check? I have a #40 chain and a 10.tooth sprocket off the torque converter on the forward and reverse…..also on shaft going in to the rear end. Top speed is 10-12 miles an hour. I sure would appreciate a reply.
I was able to make a small bracket that held the bicycle cable and connected the one end to the original accelerator pedal that part was supposed to be in the video but the data was corrupted on my camera
Nice job, the reverse box really seems to make it possible. How has it held up, are you happy with it? I was trying to think of how to do it with a starter motor for reverse but after seeing what you did and the price it makes sense
Got an electric cart that I just bought batteries for. Gotta find a turd to do this. Only thing I'd change would be electric start!! Big knobby tires and a lift kit!!! Ditch back seat to make room for the cooler!!! Camo paint scheme???
Yes electric start would be a great idea you can pick up a engine with electric start off ebay for about $200 it's a 7hp and called duro max it's blue and a camo scheme sou do awsome 😀
So I’m trying to do the same thing on my easy go golf cart and I’m struggling with the rear axle. I have an axle that came out of the electric cart, but how do you get the axle to come out of the differential as far as you did the shaft is only a couple inches out of the differential that has the splines on it, I cannot seem to figure out how to get that shaft longer in connected to a pillow block bearing any advice would be great. Thank you.
OK that makes sense so you actually took the shaft out of the electric motor itself and connected it to the splines on the differential and then ran that to pillow block blaring with a sprocket on it is that correct?
Thank you for the reply. I have been doing so much research. Trying to figure that out and thank you for the video step-by-step instruction with the parts list that’s a lifesaver. Great work.
@@jlistdiy last question is that cart a easy go or is that a club car and also would I be able to take a club car axle and put it on an EZ go or do I need to find an easy go axle
This is a video worth its weight in gold! Finally a person who does a complete step by step WITH a parts list. Thank you!!
Hey your welcome and thank you for the comment
This video should be the top golf cart video on RUclips.
I've watched alot of conversion videos as I plan on doing this when my batteries die in my cart. This is by far the most informative one. Good job.
Thank you

Wow, that was amazing. Thank you for the uploading this video and taking the time you got me thinking I can do this.

Thank you it was fun to do I've put probably 20 miles on it so far already and it's been doing really well
Do you have a video on hoe you attached the jack shaft to the rear axle ?
No I do not
what a great video this sure helped on my cart on putting a transfer switch to my now gas cart thank you will stay tuned
Thank you I'm glad it helped

Wow what a perfect video
Thank you
Very Nice!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

No guard while cutting thick metal is nonsense you're gonna hurt yourself one day. Apart from that great video very knowledgeable 🤙
Thank you and I did buy a new grinder with the gaurd

Great Job! Thanks for all the details. I am about to do the same thing. Anything you might change up if you were doing another?
Thank you and no I would keep it all the same
I’m curious on how the cart handles hills. We definitely don’t have flat land.
Hey Jammie! Great conversion! Thanks! Hey, for the frame, is it connected to the body frame and the axle? Or just the axle? Im having trouble at this point.
The axle is connected to it own frame and then connects to the main frame with a type of pivot point
looks like mine, cushman cart, it all mounted to a swing arm, just getting back to work on mine.
Hi Jamie, great video, where can I fined this gear box.
search go kart reverse gearbox on Amazon or ebay
I am going to do a 2014 Yamaha Electric to gas conversion. Am wondering if my rear axle will have the same gearing and etc. Any Ideas? Thx!
I'm not to sure I can only assume it would be the same
Amazing, thanks
Yeah no problem
Thanks for including parts list. Great tutorial

Thanks for the info I got the boys ripping out them batteries right now
@@jerrywilder9403 nice and good luck with the build

What's with the clutches and then a chain to the gearbox?

That grinder I bought used and didn't have the guard but I have bought a new one that has the guard that I now use due to that reason
Can you show us how you ended up mounting the Gear Shifter? Stuck on this myself.
I made a L shaped metal bracket and bolted it to the floor

Wow I never had that issue the only thing I can think of is the belt maybe to tight causing the torque converter to still spin 🤔
Out of curiosity did you remove the speed limiter screw on the engine ?
Yes I did
Hi Jamie, I just messaged you about the gear box but forgot to add what video. It’s the dec 18, 2020
Nice work. I don't have access to a lathe and will purchase and shaft adapter for the drive after removing motor (plan to resale motor). Do you have dimensions of the splines. Looks to be 10-spline but can't find any dimensions on the internal I.D.
It was about 1 inch diameter and I believe it was about a 10 spline

Your rear end itself is probably geared low so you could try and put a 12 tooth or even a 14 tooth on the rear shaft
Jamie, how did you attach it to the foot feed, and make that work?
I was able to make a small bracket that held the bicycle cable and connected the one end to the original accelerator pedal that part was supposed to be in the video but the data was corrupted on my camera
What's the website you ordered all the parts from? Trying to do a similar build with the 420cc from harbor freight
Ebay is where I got all my parts from

Have you found that the FNR gear box makes a loud whine at full speed?
Yes I have noticed that
I thought it was a very good video I got a junker and sounds like what I need to do with it
I'm definitely happy with it and I have had no issues yet as of today
The only thing that sucks about these conversions is the sound of the chain
True but hasn't bothered me to much

Thanks for the offer but I wouldn't have the time
It cost 4 times more now
Yeah I notice that with the inflation unfortunately

Does very well on hills even with 3 people on the cart
