I had the iPad Air 2 then I bought the 128GB 2020 11" iPad Pro when it came out in March. I'm not unhappy with my choice; I'd still do it! Why not the Air 4? For the same reason I chose the Pro in March, 128GB! For me, 128GB is the sweet spot for pricing vs my needs; 64GB is too little, a non-starter. I kept looking at the Air3 but the old design and the price for the additional storage turned me off... I held out as long as I could. Now that the Air 4 still had the 256GB upsell problem for me. So, I'd still got for the Pro. It's an easy choice for me.
I just bought an iPad 8 yesterday. It’s definitely the best value and it doesn’t feel like it’s missing anything important. I have to give Apple credit for keeping the price to a reasonable level.
For me it's missing better speakers/display/more storage. I think for 329 they could've upgraded more than just the processor... If they upgraded the processor and did any of the three things I listed I might've even upgraded from my iPad 6

Quite disappointed with the price of new Air. If it was the same as Air 3, I’d surely buy it. But considering the difference in storage, lack of certain features, and the fact that you get AirPods with an iPad pro in Back to school program, the Air is not such a good offer. Still confused what to buy...

Consider getting the 2018 iPad pro instead. It has a better 120Hz display, face id, and still a very powerful processor (you won't notice the difference between the a12x and a14). And you can get it for $50-$100 cheaper. Try getting it on Apple refurbished (basically a new iPad without the same fancy box). Hope this helps

Guys I need a suggestion. I’m considering upgrading to an iPad. This would be my first ever as I’m upgrading from a kindle fire tablet. I’ve been using a kindle since 2002. I mainly use the tablet to play games not video games but simple ones. Browse the web, do online shopping, watch RUclips and stream Hulu, Netflix and Prime movies and occasionally blog. I do have a 128GB iPhone but it’s not even halfway full. Anything below that I find that would fill up too quickly. I have been doing my comparisons and listening to videos like this but to be honest it’s like speaking a foreign language that’s not familiar to me. Right now I don’t know if I should go with a 64gb or 256gb iPad Air or a 32gb or 128gb iPad. I know there’s a big difference when it comes to the price tag. And this is something that I plan to have for several years before upgrading. Which one would you recommend?
You know, any iPad will work, i remember when I want one back then. a iPad 8th generation will do, just get with 128gb, and your set. Best tablet on the market, you won't regret it. If you want a nicer iPad get a iPad Air with a better display, and get one with 256gb, so your iPad last you a while. Up to you if you want cellular. But that's my advice.
8th gen. Will be good for 5 years. Then get another lower cost one. If you got any of the others, you would still have it for the same amount of time but paid way more. Your not a power user and that’s ok.
This is crazy. When I read your post I was thinking yes, that’s me. All of it! Except I have an iPad 2 air 32gb for 5 years. Ready to upgrade. I want a pencil, so am I hearing I’ll need an air for the better pencil? 32gb sucks. I have to keep deleting photos.
iPad 8 is great for that, I have an iPad 6 and even though all these new and better iPads and even Samsung tablets are very tempting, it still does everything I want to do, and at a reasonable speed.
I know that there are a whole of features added to update the ipad air but with it starting at $600 I think is is too expensive and the 11inch pro is a better deal. Especially if you need more than 64gb. With the back to school deal, you get $50 dollars off the pro ipad plus airpods. At 256gb the price difference is only 100 (with the education discount).

What I discovered recently is battery life really depends on how bright the screen setting is set to. By lowering brightness to below 50% made a huge difference. It is still way bright enough for me.

To talk the screen select all and hit speak is what I do the ipad air it sounds like it has better speakers then the mini. Better speaker means better sound, is it as durable as the mini and do they make a grilla case for it.
I don’t really need the pro, so I am thinking about getting the air. But I‘m not sure if 64 gb is enough. The only other option is 256 gb. That’s where things get tricky. If I would choose the 256gb option, I could get the pro (128gb) for just a tiny bit more money. And 128 is the sweet spot in my opinion... 64 might not be enough while 256 would be overkill for me. Now I’m lost. What do I do
At this point it's really nuts that apple is offering a 32gb iPad, flash storage is so cheap it would not cost them much of anything to bump the base iPad 8 to 64GB. I am still using an iPad 6 32gb with cellular, and 32gb has really not been enough even with streaming most everything. I have to constantly remove apps and I don't really store a lot locally, which is a major consideration if not the most important with the iPad upgrade I am planning.
Thank you for such an in-depth, concise, well organized comparison. I have had my iPad Air 2 128 gb for six years now and it’s still going strong despite not being able to update anymore. This amazing tablet sold me on Apple products for good! That being said, I want to upgrade and have waited for the new launch to decide and am so glad I did! Your review made me certain that the new iPad Air in 256 gb is the perfect choice for me. I have wanted to get ProCreate for about a year now with the second generation iPencil. The iPad Pro, although absolutely amazing and tempting, seemed like overkill, not to mention the out of my budget price. Thank you so much for the clarity your comparison gave me. I can’t believe after such a great video, many of your comments were about a minuscule screen size misquote. Then again, I’m an artist not a techie...lol

Great video. I ordered my new Air 4 and subscribed. You made it simple and clear.
Any idea is to when the ipad pro with a14x is gonna drop?
I wanted pro motion on iPad Air 4😞
Yeah 60hz pro motion would be pretty cool but they wanted more ways to keep the ipad pro selling
Anthony Plays what is 60hz promotion bruh
@@TheAwEsOmERaGhAv pro motion dosent mean 120hz it means a variable refresh rate so on ipad pro for example it will be 24hz for movies and saving battery
Anthony Plays 60 to 24 doesnt make much of difference when compared to 120 to 24

So my iPad Pro 10.5 should I trade in for the new Air?
if i buy the ipad 4 with cellular , can i get good quality phone calls as i get with iphone 11? please reply
Where the heck is ipad mini? Are they gonna release it this year.?
Great vid! It will help a lot of folks in their iPad choices. Thanks, it helped me. 👍
I use an ipad to talk have an ipad mini right now but need a new one as it is flashing now the screen. The ipad air does cit have good sound if I use it to talk? To talk the screen select all and hit speak is what I do the ipad air it sounds like it has better speakers then the mini. Better speaker means better sound, is it as durable as the mini and do they make a grilla case for it.
which one is better for students (note taking) and maybe just watching netflix and youtube only ?
“The display is actually 10.9 on the Air not 10.8”
Nicely done sir. By the way, capacity shows up twice...for the ports comparison as well...unless that was intentional 🤷🏻♂️🙏🏼
What do I do
Will there be a M1 ipad air?
Rene ... Excellent and informative video thank you! So underrated.
I need your help. Which ipad for me like editing video (my vlog), Edit photot (Adobe Photoshop), Notes, and 4 games. I need your answer. Thank you!
your thoughts on Apple Air Green colour?
@Ken88 good point.....that didn't strike my mind....through pics the green color looks bit dull thats why asked
@Ken88 good point....again curse the apple 🍎 for surpassing their products in all ways......but price is the one hurts us the most 😕
0:26 10.8 inch
Jody Malone You can Update the Air 2 to iPad OS 14. But it‘s got a reduced feature-set. Still considering upgrading from my Air 2 to the 4.
TXY 007 Thank you for that info! Still looking to upgrade also but keeping this workhorse for some applications so your tip is helpful!
Jody Malone You‘re welcome! I will also keeping my Air 2 as a secondary device then. It might be the best tech product I ever bought so far.
I've just bought the ipad pro 128gb and im still hesitating if I should return it and buy the ipad air 4 256gb... I'm in med school so i will use it just for note taking, lectures, lots of books and pdfs... Should i stay with the pro 128gb (is enough?) or should I buy the Ipad air 4 256 gb??
The only thing that concerns me is the storage. Is 128gb enough for just medical school stuff or do I need more than that??
@@Nora-ho2qi I'm a med student as well (Germany). For my lecture stuff (all PDFs) I use a laptop and store everything in Dropbox. Therfore I know how much storage it is: My PDFs from the last 5 years all fit within 10 GB. So you really should be fine with 128 GB in my opinion. But I don't have eBooks though. You should be finde sticking with it. And in the future, there will always be a better buy and the option to sell your current Pro or give it to family.
5:43 I would choose password or pin code.
Great breakdown. Alot of useful information. Thanks
Would like to see touch ID return to the iphone in the form of the lock button or behind screen. Finger print has always been my preferred.
Amazingly detailed video Rene, love your work, keep it up!!!
Great vid as always rene. It should be noted logitech has trackpad keyboards for the new ipad basic that’s pretty solid too.
Please, if you have any input to Apple, Magic Keyboard internally in the iPad Pro or all iPads, with the same keys and functionality.
Do you think iPad Air 4 will be good for Python, Tableau, etc?
Great points.... but you can store photos to google photos and clear up space on ipad 8
When will new ipad pro launch..?.?.?.
Solid review Rene... a tablet has bigger storage than my 512GB iMac (external to the rescue). Mind bogglingly have far and fast things have come.
I think if you can find a refurbished iPad pro 2018 then that's a better choice than the air.
Yeah
David Jacobs the pro has all the same features plus face id and pro motion.
David Jacobs I know I'm saying if you can find I refurbished pro for the same price then it's probably a better deal.
10:10 did you mean connectivity??
