- Watch Dogs 2 was released in 2016, this Game's beauty was left aside due to the simple fact that Ubisoft made false E3 demos from the first Watch Dogs Game, naturally everyone was shying away from the second series which it didn't get nowhere near as close of recognition as the first one did.
However a few years later and a very bad Watch Dogs (Legion) Game, I decided to look back at Watch Dogs 2 and see for myself how it looks. This Game is as beautiful as ever and it also looks next-gen too! It really has aged like fine wine!

Totally, if this Game would have had enough development time to make it as polished as possible. This would've been one of the greatest open-world games ever

@@DowngradedBot how? The story missions in that game were literally the side missions, copied and pasted with a cutscene slapped on it. This game actually got creative with the sandbox and creativity of missions and how you approach them. Watchdogs 1 was a scam.

@@goofyhawk7170You are right for the wrong reason. Yes, ray tracing does allow them to do less work, but that's actually a good thing because being able to dedicate less time to lighting and more time to the rest of the art direction is a good thing.
Back in the days there were a lot of awesome games that we could enjoy every minute.
Now there are so many games that we don't even want to look at.

This franchise could have become a competitor for GTA-like with the absence of new rockstar title for years but Ubisoft isn't capable of anything anymore just waste potential
For me, this is a way better GTA SA than the "definitive" edition in the visual style, it's just how I imagined it wtf
This game was WAYYYY ahead of it's time. The Parkour in this game has to be the best parkour in any videogame. The open world elements are just Top Notch. Really sad to see this game has not got it's recognition.
the best parkour in any video game is in AC:Unity not this one, this one parkour system is like a joke next to AC:Unity.

@@TheFather_ I do remember AC unity has the best Parkour I've seen. I think at this point they are neck to neck with each other. Each of them has their own style.
it wasn't ahead at all.. almost every major AAA game was at this level back then.. people just adapt too quickly to newer bullshit, and accept crap graphics with a minimum requirement of a 4060-70..

Honestly loved Watch Dogs 2. Underated as fuck.
the game has shit story and characters, they also stripped all the fun hacking elements while driving with dynamic camera from WD1 , the world is amazing though. they should've continued with WD1 characters and story line and built upon the hacking elements not stripping them out.
legion also had a shitty story and the missions quickly became boring and repetitive.

@@TheFather_ stripped all the fun hacking elements? You have way more options in Watch Dog 2. The story is mid sure but the characters are aight. They're not deep at all but they're fun. Although the autistic character is a bit insulting with how stereotypical he is. Wrench is cool.
I realize now that you said " hacking elements *while* driving with a dynamic camera" and I'm not sure what you mean by that. Would you mind elaborating? It's been almost a decade since I played the first.
Even though the story is mid the mission levels are akin to an immersive sim with how you can approach them making them more replayable. You can finish a lot of missions with just hacks and your drones.
@@Classic98Intro From what I've seen Legion is just a trash Watch Dogs game. Might be a decent game but a terrible Watch Dogs. The hacking in that game (again from what I've seen. I haven't played it and I know that's a terrible way to have an opinion on something but I don't wanna play the game because I know I won't like it.) is atrociously barebones compared to the first 2. I don't even care about the story as long as the game is FUN.

Yeah, their game worlds are beautiful. Sadly some of them lack life, others have bad physics and some other games don't have good facial animations

one of the best open worlds because of how advanced the ai is always had some random crazy npc interaction, the map is very good as well

This was the closest ubisoft ever got to GTA quality game and then fucked it all the way up with WD legion. All they had to do was build upon what they had here. One of thr best open world games ive played.
idea of watchdogs was unique and yes it had its drawbacks but I have loved the series so far for what it is. making the open world with hackable objects and with the new legion game even playable NPCs was a great touch. really adds one more layer to open world and make it look less like a sandbox for killing people mindlessly
Watch dogs legion is where they lost it. That game is really bad and abandoned everything that made watch dogs 1 and 2 great

Rdr2 is a rockstar games title, rockstar always publishing astonishing games, but for ubisoft they were so good now they are just throwing shit quality games on a monthly basis
the watch dogs games are true gems. 2nd game had a bit much hipster cringe in it but still was awesome to explore the city.
seeing Ubi games being the 'good' example makes me very happy.

While the visuals and gameplay was pretty good in WD2, I do agree that the story and "lore" bits you could read or hear was a bit too cringe for me to stomach in the game to push through to finish it. I know they say to just shut your brain off while you game but some of us like a good story or small bits of world building as you traverse - a few of us didn't enjoy it as much in WD2.
I wanted WD to be beside Saints Row and GTA but this and Legion made sure that doesn't happen...
@@LivrusNay im actually replaying the campaign very soon :) playing WD1 with the living city mod right now but you´re not wrong :( i remember the release when the NPCs had completely wrong voices etc.
@@da1writer1985 well, u gotta agree, that WD got bigger and bigger from game to game - which i liked very much. but Legion prolly was way too ambitious for Ubi right from the start. i bought a key very soon after release for like 10 €......

if u wanna be truly shocked play the Deux Ex games. Human revolution still looks amazing, and Mankind Divided is beyond gorgeous.
Epic games was giving deus ex mankind divided for free some weeks ago.
The level design of Mankind Divided was truly awesome and holds up very well. The Character animations looked a bit like animatronics even sub par back then on release. I wish it was longer, too. It's a shame we won't be seeing another Deus Ex game for quite a while, unfortunately.
This game wss beautiful. In 2021 after when i just got ny gaming laptop, GTA V & Watch Dogs 2 were the games i played for a yr until i started playing a lot more games and buying them

The first watch dogs came out back when PS4 launched. It’s pretty old at this point.
I played this game a lot.
It really feels like one of those games Ubisoft released during their prime.
Not only are the graphics outstanding, but everything feels alive and the gameplay mechanics are super fun.
I loved the parkour so much, I started trouble, only so I can be chased by the police.
I'm glad it's finally getting the love it deserves and I hope it's not too late for a proper Watch Dogs 4.

Cant believe you did a video on my favorite Ubisoft game of all time. One if the best in the series. The world was amazing and the Npc were so reactive to everything around them which helped it feel real. This was a great game that was overlooked because of the critical reception of the first 1😢

I remember being so hyped for the the new watch dogs. I remember the days were I hoped the Ubisoft that we knew would come back and release some really awesome games. Unfortunately the Ubisoft we all knew and loved died a long time ago.
Legion was my final straw. I don't play Ubisoft games anymore.

watch Dogs 1 & 2 worlds are amazing, so much happening, amazing gameplays, detailed cities. NPCs engagement (meeting hugging, singing, reacting) feels so lively.

If you have RTX 4080 or 4090 this game looks absolutely stunning in 4K native @ 60Hz and max settings.
I really like this game. I hope Ubisoft does not kill the online element of the game which as of this moment is still active.

For some reason, despite it being a Ubisoft game, I enjoy just going around San Francisco, it feels like one of their most alive open worlds, the visuals hold up well too.

Took some finagling to get this working. I'm an American living overseas. As such, Steam would only permit me to download the Chinese/Russian language version. Had to downtown a pirated copy then merge the English files into my paid version.
One of my favorites, glad to see it getting some kind of recognition. :>
I played this game on a 3 hour demo that Ubisoft put out, and I loved it right away. For me, hands down the true Watch Dogs experience and a shame that Legion was incapable of living up to it. The story, gameplay and graphics of course were stunning. I recommend this one for sure!

Despite my grievances with the story, characters and complete tonal shift from the first game, Watch_Dogs 2 is a solid game and a complete improvement in terms of gameplay from its predecessor, and the first game already had a bunch going for it in that department. It is really unfortunate for the series with how much flak it got because of Ubisofts lies about its graphics. The first two games are extremely fun open world games in my opinion, and I would recommend them to anyone who this type of game would appeal to, regardless of your feelings towards Ubisoft (though I will warn that unfortunately, the first game was hit with Ubisoft's mass online shut down of their games a couple years back, and not all the content in available in the game anymore, with some features, weapons, perks and gameplay permanently locked away with no ways of obtaining them in any alternative means).
Game technology stagnates between console generations
It's not even about the graphics. NPC interractions were amazing and honestly sometimes finishing a mission in some more thought out way was so amazing, like blowing up stuff hacking a car to drive over some guys and getting into it just to run away was so cool. Watch dogs legion is such a letdown in comparision, it plays weird and eh.
Batman: Arkham Knight is also still holding up extremely well! Released in 2015

They really needed a continuation of this game as Watch Dogs 3 instead of Legion. Ubisoft really drops the ball when they finally have something that works.
The Havok Engine was amazing
Just started playing this a few weeks ago. Its severley underrated, but not undeserving since they botched the first game.
My 1080ti worked so hard to have ultra settings on this game.
and 8 year game in which you could 3d print a fully functioning gun from the scratch and with said gun you needed to gain followers XD. crazy but fun
