Thank you. Sometimes if I'm giving them away, I might only sand them to 220 before polishing. I've shown an example of this in a previous video. I think it is "Half Polished Thundereggs" where I sand through the stages, but then cover half the egg with tape and polish it. From there you can see the shine obtained from each level of sanding.
@@Mike-br8vb No, that came later. Same concept though. If you go way back to episode 11 it "Half Polishing Thundereggs Experiment". Lets see if this link will work. ruclips.net/video/G7as38VtJxw/видео.html
They sure have some interesting matrix on those Canyon Rim Thunderegg's from the PDA mine. So many have plain opal in them that it takes a bit of care to polish without cracking but many also fluoresce under ultraviolet light. For that bed those were what I'd call "reasonable" sized halves although I'd have done them on the bull-wheel before polishing instead of the high speed sander but we use what we got right? haha Those turned out really nice IMO. OMW over to the PowWow then hitting the club claims. Any recommendations on where to dig on the club claims? Thanks for sharing sir, have a nice weekend~
Drop down over the hill to the lower road and you should see where others have dug a big area. You should find lots of eggs down there. Keep in mind, that claim is really two layers. The upper area has a "milk chocolate" matrix like the Richardson's eggs and the lower bed has matrix like Lucky Strike. I've managed to find both types there.
Those turned out great! Love that amazing shine!
Thanks. I try to do them justice. Thundereggs can be a bit of a challenge as they are sometimes full of minute cracks. These were pretty solid.
Excellent work, I'm sure your neighbor will be happy with the outcome!
I can't believe the shine you get after the 200 stage grit! Wow!
