    Absolutely agree with you! Producers should not build their track around a melodic driven sample, but rather create your track with original resources first then add a sample or two to give it flavor!

    I use Arcade and love it, but I don't typiclly use a full melodic loop. I will use part of it and then use another part or 3 or 4 to create a different melody of my own. I often even switch the line or selected sample to an entirely different program so its not pieced together with the same elements. I have used some drum loops but I typically will mix them with other sounds and loops so its not just the straight loop. So far I haven't ever run into any copyright issues, but now I am getting into sync and want to be sure I don't have issues. I produce without Arcade type samples as well, so I can do without it, but the flavor and sound quality just takes the track to a different level. We should be able to freely use these type services because we're paying for the quality.

    The algorithm is sophisticated yet imperfect. Even original songs trigger it sometimes.

    I work with a sync library that forbids using splice specifically, but are okay with others, provided each sample is layered with at least 2 other sounds in the stems they are in. This is to prevent those samples being isolated and, I'd guess, seen as a re-selling of the isolated sample. I use loopcloud mostly, which I guess is pretty similar to splice. There have been times where I recreate the sample with my VSTs, for example a bass line, because I need to adapt it to the changes in the song, etc... I also like to have them as inspiration for ideas. Additionally super useful for the ear candy elements, impacts, swooshes, etc...

      Interesting! Ya using loops or samples as inspiration initially in the process and then working in your own stuff later is always fun 👍

    when you talk about "stretching and re-pitching" I can see how the content ID would still hear it, but as far as taking a sample from Splice, loading it into a sampler, re-pitching it, and then playing in a new melody with the slices, under a different tempo, do you think it will still catch it?

    • @Steven_Beddall
      @Steven_Beddall  Год назад

      It's hard to say really, it depends on the sample and how far it deviates from the original! I haven't personally run into any issues. Hopefully stays that way.

    hi Stevie thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm looking into getting into the lofi beats market (have been performing/making beats/mixing for a while now). Just wondering, would you be able to breake it down where does your income comes from? I'm guessing you probably have multiple sources of income (youtube included) however I'm more interested in lo-fi specifically. Do you upload it to DSP's and get a collect publishing/mechanicals? (Im assuming it is possible to make money from streaming giving lo-fi's demand). Do you reach out to stock library music? for these do you get paid an upfront fee or is it royalties? what about sync deals? appreciate any info I'm sure others would too, thanks.

    There is a really good You Tube video: "Au5 : Making The Most Of A Sample Pack | Constructing A Song From Samples" that shows you how to repurpose samples and make them your own...

    Hey Stevie! Have you tried running samples through HalfTime by Cableguys? It's used quite heavily by Trap and Hip Hop producers. Also Backmask by Freakshow Industries is pretty cool for changing up samples.

    I always try to stay away from Royalty Free samples. I create my own drum loops too.

    I worked on 20 plus songs. I use Logic Pro “drummer” for 3/4ths of them. Finally sent them to TuneCore for distribution . They got denied by RUclips content ID, instagram and Facebook. It were able to get released on all other platforms. All my other parts of the songs are made by me. I just don’t play drums,hence used the Drummmer on LP. I looked into try to get picked up my by Artlist today. I see they ask during submission if you use sample libraries etc. I backed out of the submission and that’s why I’m on this video. So in regards to that. Is Artlist usually okay for my whole original songs using drummer, even customized so it isn’t just the loop they give me, pretty easy to get around to get accepted

    • @Steven_Beddall
      @Steven_Beddall  Год назад

      It may not be the Logic drummer that was triggering the Content ID system. Were all the tracks denied?

    • @davidgrabenschroer2236
      @davidgrabenschroer2236 Год назад

      That came out worded weird. I only realeased 6 so far. And they all contained the drummer tool on them. I asked TuneCore what’s up with me not being able to do RUclips ID and then they mentioned a drum loop. And then sent me a song that used those drums from drummer even though the bass to go with it and all the melodies were different. That was only one example they gave me. So I’m assuming they’re talking about the drummer from Logic Pro. Again because all my melodies are me playing guitar and using LP vsts to play via my akai mini. And not using any other loops from their LOOPS LIBRARY. It really sucks when they initially said that the drummers royalty free and everyone made vids about it on RUclips. I was like seeet I’ll customize the drummer to fit all my melodies and riffs I make

      @@davidgrabenschroer2236 Yeah a loop from either Splice, Apple loops or wherever else is bound to trigger content ID systems unless some alterations are made to it, even then it still happens sometimes! Artlist isn't adamantly opposed to sample usage but they definitely want to avoid situations where your triggering content ID.

      It could be yeah, it depends on the library and the context in which you're using it.
