Now crafting and selling work is another thing... selling the same thing to multiple artist is shady. 👊🧡👍Just my honest opinion.

On TikTok, I got a copyright violation on a loop I made. I sound design and compose the music before I resampled it to make a loop. I chopped and flipped it, and then made a beat to try to get around this issue. I was in disbelief 🫢 because I take pride in my skills as a sound designer, composer, and musician. Someone or Bot hit my video for copyright volition and I couldn’t even plead my case to TikTok. I understand where sample base producer are going through. Hopefully it gets better soon because if my work is not safe and I make it all myself, then I know it’ll be pure hell for those who use samples and loops packs.

Man I got a copy right in a beat a I made with a drum loop. I can solo the drum loop sample and tik tok is cool with it but as soon as it's in my beat I get a copy right flag. Then I I have one that's a straight up loop from a 60s record and they're fine with it. Their system is so flawed it's hilarious.

I'm getting jacked on RUclips, to where even custom drum patterns that I build LIVE get a claim. Not a real boy yet (under 1,000) so not much to be done about it, right now, and doesn't affect much. I agree though, RUclips needs to do better with this.

The issue is that there are exclusive license and non-exclusive. Non-exclusive which may be royalty free means you can monetize for personal projects but not on major streaming platforms. Exclusive means you can use it anywhere & it's yours with full copyright if you paid the license fee or you created it from scratch without 3rd party samples. So if you have creators using non-exclusive samples in their content and posting it on major streaming platforms that's when issues occur. There is no clear solution to this other than to prove where your sourced your samples from when disputes come up. This is why nobody should be using random free samples online for professional purposes.

  • @themadlooper3272
    @themadlooper3272 2 года назад +29

This happens because some producers are trying to put content ID on a beat that uses 3rd party samples that they’re not the original creator of. It’s a problem when leasing beats also.

I've only had 2 falsely reported occurrence of youtube flagging our samples in the past 2.5 years so luckily we've been able to avoid this issue for the most part. Another way to reduce this issue is to do what cymatics is doing and simply have limited inventory for each pack so only so many people can actually have access to the pack in the first place.

This happened to me for using what I can only guess was a a top loop I pitched down and used for texture with my drums… I purchased it from Splice and like you said pretty much it’s a system that’s based on who claims it first, which is ridiculous since the original artist that created it for splice isn’t getting paid for it so why another beat maker the same as me!?
Also this seems to be mostly an issue on tic tok and RUclips
Splice needs to have all the melodies cleared to use before they can sell them or have a system in place that recognizes royalty free samples the same way it recognizes ones that aren’t, problem solved… it’s a shame, I shouldn’t have to chop warp and mangle the hell out of something beyond recognition just to use something I paid for… Although I almost always chop up and slice all my samples I shouldn’t have to mangle em up beyond recognition every time since I purchased some things cause I like it and want to use it in a beat!?

@elbowMediaStudios To your knowledge is Splice working to resolve the issue? I'm new to the game and I love it! And most of the samples I use are completely unrecognizable to the point of laughter, so if need be I can and will find ways to comply, but I am also deeply saddened with the fate of the first few songs I made and realizing all of this makes me really frustrated with Splice because I bought the $400 annual membership, and for what? I am kind of upset by this. This should absolutely be resolved on their end. New user agreements for people uploading their sample packs, pronto. Because that is some serious "royalty free sample (but you might get sued)" B.S. This would not fly in any other industry I can think of.

Just fix the user agreements, or make Splice a free "try at your own risk " type thing because charging me for stuff I can't use is ridiculous. As a noob/outsider looking in, I feel like I got screwed giving them that $400 and definitely won't re-enroll my top tier membership again. Just keep the basic plan.

I disputed and luckily won because I included my ISRC code. It's a tricky issue when I try to upload to my personal RUclips page though, not when I use a distributor. It sounds kind of like this is a problem on the end of RUclips (and other sites)'s integrated content ID recognition. It ought to be possible for Splice (or other companies) to content ID each and all of their samples, and simply not enforce it. Actually, it might be even more of a technology issue on RUclips/Google's side(and others). Their automatic content-ID system should be more nuanced, and be able to differentiate between "this is a reupload of someone else's work" and "this uses the same parts as someone else's work, but this is a separate, unique piece of work". It seems like content ID almost completely IGNORES the existence of creative & fair-use laws.

this is really starting to suk azz caz i've been making tunes for a while... couple decades... AND some sample packs which I THOUGHT WERE RARE, are now on splice. they were NOT on splice when I checked years ago. THAT sucks. I don't use much out of packs, but still !!!
people need to start boycotting subscriptions altogether. your water / electric / gas bills are subscriptions, there shouldn't be much else beyond that. people need to stop subscribing to every little thing. its gonna bite u in the arse one day.

Not sure but remember if the samples can be purchased by other producers then there’s a risk of copyright issues due producers registering songs and claiming the samples as their own. 👊🏾

If You cant play, and you cant chop up samples don't be a producer. Imagen being in the studio and you cant play and Timberland walks in and sees you have Arcade or Splice open. You will get laughed out the studio. Learn and hone your craft there is no short cuts.

If you can't play keys then pay a keyboardist to make your samples and loops.

How's the weather up there on that high horse? Everything in this world is a remix. Melodies.... beats..... even your own cells and atoms. It all gets reused. It all happens without your permission. Absolutely no one and NOTHING is original and that's a very beautiful thing.

people like "soul searching" are upload splice samples without manipulating them or even trying to make them original. crooks. scammers. doing it for streams. tones of people are doing this now. just to make an extra buck.
