    Absolutely loved this podcast!!! Loved hearing Angus's stories, seems like a great guy. Just has that infectious smile that makes you smile no matter how bad your day might be going. Got to see him at my first TSO show last weekend in St. Louis, loved it!!!

    What an incredible hang. This was by far one of the coolest podcast sessions you guys have done. Leon, Troy, Angus....thanks. So many great topics discussed in under 2 hours. Hope to catch a TSO show later this year in Texas.

    Love to see Angus here finally, instead of just lurking in the comments. :) Amazing guitarist I've seen with TSO several times.

      Schenker had all the goods at such an early age, very tasty melodies and a very distinctly unique vibrato. His use of the wah was amazing and particular to him. So many people have been influenced by him. I would have loved to have seen him in the early 80's with MSG. Legend.

    I would love it if you explained the EQ settings after the Virtual Capo that was brought up. I typically listen to the podcast and not sure I missed this one.

    That black top Vivian Les Paul brought back memories. You referenced the early 80's video of Dio in Holland, I saw that way back in the day and it totally blew me away. I think Viv actually used an X2N pickup in the neck position! He was really pushing those JCM 800 amps beyond the point of no return.

    • @LeonTodd

      X2N in the neck - what a maniac!

    • @AngusClarkGTR
      @AngusClarkGTR Год назад

      Yes, that’s what he had in there for the first tour. By his own admission he was going through different pickups very quickly. One thing I noticed in the recent Dio doco (little Aussie abbreviation for you), is that Viv still had the original mini-humbuckers in his guitar during rehearsals for the album! I thought he had the mod done well before he got the Dio gig! I think Sean at Pariah did an amazing job with the pickups.

      @@AngusClarkGTR I remember when I bought the album back in '83, the inner sleeve showed pictures of Viv playing the guitar still with the mini humbuckers installed. I was surprised when I saw that Holland video and noticed he was using full sized humbuckers.

      @@LeonTodd Yup, it's insane! I briefly had one in the bridge position of a guitar and found it to be a bit too much, but in the neck? Well, he made it work, obviously.

    Very interesting show. Angus can play most people under the table! Loved the section about Marshalls, I'm a big fan of the 50w amps, but I've been playing the (supposedly) 20w Studio Plexi lately. It's impressively loud. 100w is only marginally louder than a 50w, but the feel is very different. Probably the loudest amp I have is a Vox AC30. 30w slamming a pair of Celestion Alnico Blue speakers will kill small animals, it's incredibly loud for that amount of watts. I think the speakers are more efficient and add to the the power. BTW - received my Ragdoll T-shirt in the post a couple of days ago, thank you!

      @@LeonTodd You should try one, trust me, you won't be disappointed. I've got one of the new JTM models on backorder, I'd love to run the Plexi and the JTM together through a 4x12 cab, it would be a monster!
