I love how Jeff Mills mixes always have this frenetic energy, always feeling like they're being stretched at the seems about to fall apart any moment but they never do, and then all of the sudden a new bassline or element enters the mix and takes attention. Just bangers and mash pure through and through. You can't have this tension and vibe and feel with the sync buttons man..
Just wish techno hadn't gone the direction it did from about late 98 onwards! Suppose that's age creeping into DJ'S from early 90's for ya. Surgeon was just a wee nipper when i saw him at ORBIT throughout 95-98
Carl cox . NO fucking hate Marco carola was most deff a legend the time, he could dj as hell same for UMEK. Dave Clarke, yea there were enough to name, but jeff took the place cause his outstanding productions to. but no doubt his dj skills on point.. But better than carl cox,,, i don't know.
Saw Beltram & Dave Angel at the QMU in Glasgow back in my student daze. What a fuckin pilled up sweatbox that was. Half the crowd had their tops off & that was just the women 🥵🥵🥵
It was probably 1's, 2's and 3's, maybe even 4's my friend. Pete Tong said at the beginning of the set that he's on lots of decks tonight so it was at least 3. He is not human, that's the only explanation.
@@beliVolidisko i hear ya about the turntable count, but no one ever says look what that DJ is doin on the 3's & 4's. Oh and just in case u arent aware of my wizard comment, its because in the 80's Jeff Mills was on a Detroit radio station known as The Wizard.

Well, don't doubt anymore. I was there in 2006 and it was all about "minimal" downtempo boring german shit and French Touch 2.0 which was the worse thing that ever happened to dance music. back in those days nobody cared anymore about real techno and the Detroit roots except for a hanful of DJs and purists. It's much, much better now. Maybe not as exciting as it was back in the 90's (but I was 20 so maybe that's why) but waaaaaay above 2006.

Perfect explanation. Feel like I'm losing my mind and then suddenly something shifts and everything is clear again... until...
So true bro
Thats the Magic about Mixing in my opinion. Choose the right Tracks is only the half fee….

He understands what feels good, what can keep us focused on his music and dancing our asses off
Best set I’ve heard in my life.
I get back to Jeff Mills quite often because just sounds flawless and timeless everytime. 💣
Unbelivable.. this is just on another level
I am more into quiet music generally but have to recognize Jeff Mills is the fucking king of Techno. Love it.
The God of techno
40:45 Superb transition to "The Bells"

Can you point out a DJ who was doing it like Jeff in the day? xD

Dont forget beltram though it was because of Beltram i was introduced to techno when techno was techno at its rawness and so pure mid 93-98

Excellent : 2001, a space odissey for the dj mix intro :)
What this man right here did on the 1's & 2's, sounds like he's some kind of Wizard from Detroit.

Best techno set of all time.
Jeff is light years far away from any other techno dj .
Nowadays that techno has died, he is even more important...
Oh please! Techno hasn't died at all. Perhaps your musical tastes have changed. If you think Techno has died, you want to listen to DJ SWAT.
techno hasn't died. the best sets of today sound much like this. techno is timeless. it is amazing what a visionary he is though.
Techno belongs in the underground so death is correct!
Jeff Mills speaks the language of our creator's CREATOR! (Stand in the face of "THE EVERYTHING!")
Absolute...a touch of God
last time I saw him was this set. wot an experience wot a legend mills is god

Yes! 👌
Having this played at my funeral, haha.

Fuck me, these were the days. Take me back!
For techno 2006 was not much of "the days". Now it's much better and Jeff still spins amazing records ;)
