As I was driving through the Oregon coast last week, Spotify put this song on for me while I drove through the winding roads. It’s already a nostalgic memory for me.
The districts are such an underrated band. They may not particularly have high tempo music to get the crowd up for mosh pits, however they are lyrically and melodically brilliant. I mean you can tell that through Telephone.
God, his passion is amazing. I could tell when i saw him in seattle that he was just grateful to be here and that honestly made it 1000% better to watch. and their sound is just perfect. Favorite band by far
Had no idea who these guys were....saw them live when they opened for Dr. Dog in Detroit in 2016.....they absolutely crushed it. Been listening ever since.
The amount of passion coming from this group is incredible. The pinnacle being when he takes the harmonica from around his neck to belt the next line. wow.
Wow, commented this over 2 years ago now and this still remains one of my all time favorite songs & favorite band. It makes me feel something every single time. Will forever follow what these guys put out.
Im actually blown away... I was just browsing songs on youtube and this came up so I said "fuck it, lets try it". It's easily one of the best songs I've heard in a long while.
He’s feeling this. This is a MOOD. We’ve all been there, and if not, maybe you should. Pure emotion. Met the entire band. I had to jump through some hoops, but it was worth it.
The dynamics are fabulous. For young kids their songwriting is on another level. I am going to make it my goal to spread the word about these guys. Awesome how they're from Lititz as well.
It's still amazes me how passionate they are about their music. I mean yeah you could say that for every artist but still. You can just see it in their faces. I really hope these guys get known worldwide like Coldplay. This bands music has helped me through a lot. And music in general has. I play at school in orchestra and jazz band. It helps a lot. I encourage anyone to get into it. These guys are perfect examples of it, they take life lessons and experiences and put them into music like no one else. This I why I think everyone can relate... Just read and listen to the lyrics.
Came across this song three years ago in my freshman year of college. When i heard it I knew it was an instant classic. I've been performing their work all over my area, and the music is so true three years later here I am once again.
Came across this song by accident at 11pm in a mess hall, high as hell and with the people I love most in this world. Forever my favorite song of all time. Can't wait to see them live someday.
I went to their concert and it was the most perfect, passionate feeling:) Their music, lyrics, and style are the best, I just wish more people knew about them so they could hear the greatness!!
so..........I'm looking through the line up for end of the road festival & I come across these fellas. Oh my, I am so looking forward to seeing Them before they go onto the main stages........& they will.
oh mon bébé,,je ressens toute la douleur de ces cris,,que je n ai pu voir,,,je t aime tant,,,tu me manques mon ange,,,,tu étais pur,,bienveillant,,je ne sais pas comment vais je finir sans toi,,,
What you are witnessing is the beginning of something. Something big. More importantly: something that people will love. Passion and collaboration are two working hands within this video... but it's everything that words aren't able to describe that make me love what I am watching here. Keep it up, fellas.
Love the Districts. Been to a few of their concerts. Too good of a band, only being freshmen in college. So happy you guys are getting known! It's awesome and good luck with everything in the futute.
Pressing this video has been the biggest regret of my life. This song have been running 2 days in a row now. I've listened to it over a 100 times i'm sure
Wow I know all these guys from school (the vocalist is in my homeroom) and I am so happy to see that they're getting this much attention! They really deserve it!
In the addition to the other comments (singer, lyrics, etc.), I am also totally stunned by the drummer's performance and the sound mixing of the drums.
i remember coming across these for the first time. there was a hardcore/metal band a friend told me to check out who are also called Districts, and i accidentely clicked this video, and i was hooked from the intro. it's completely expanded my taste in music and now i can safely say i've found a new favourite band. so thank you for making awesome music i guess :)
These great fields are stretching, Taking me oh so far Great fields are stretching, Savannah stretching oh so far And this dry air is taking My girl and it's oh so hard And I wish I had a melody for a songbird to sing back my love Oh my savannah, Did it have to be so hard? Oh my savannah, Taking all my love and all my heart Tailor won't you make me The finest suit so dark and black and grey And old john won't you lend me The finest gun your eyes have ever laid The fastest bullet flying, So quick nobody ever feel no pain 'Cause the plains they took my baby And I'm gonna take her to the funeral beds to lay And oh my savannah, Did it have to be so hard? Oh my savannah, Taking all my love and all my heart Oh no no... X3 And I'm struggling, and I'm stumbling, And I need to start I'm struggling, and I'm stumbling I need you in my heart Tailor won't you make me The finest suit so dark and black and grey And old john won't you lend me The finest gun your eyes have ever laid The fastest bullet flying, So quick nobody ever feel no pain 'Cause the plains they took my baby And I'm gonna take her to the funeral beds to lay I hate to say I love you, But oh goddamn I love you, You know I do But you're gone away, gone away, gone away These great fields are stretching, Taking me oh so far
Oh god they all look so young in this!! I've been listening to them since 2016, my first tattoo was the album art on A Flourish and a spoil, i miss them so much man i really hope i get to hear them play this live again one day :)
How could anyone call this generic when the kid is obviously so passionate! I won't say I'll listen to this music or not either way, but I respect the passionate honesty yo'.
Almost closed the video before watching, clicked in to 1:30 just to check, immediately went back to watch the whole thing after hearing his voice. Awesome :D
I agree completely. These guys made me feel like I was a young kid in an old shed and felt completely changed by their sound. Was so crushed when the lead was awful to the crowd
this was my favorite song during a really really rough time in my life. only recently did i hear it again with more objective ear and discovered its about a suicide. very personally moving and makes the song/what the districts are doing so much more beautiful for me. this is the music of the heart!
i randomly stumbled on lyla and was like wow i really love this and started listening to all their songs and i havent found an artist i like this much in a really long time. sososo good
This has a very good folk sound too it and I enjoyed listening to this very much. These kids have a lot of talent and I hope that it takes them somewhere.
As I was driving through the Oregon coast last week, Spotify put this song on for me while I drove through the winding roads. It’s already a nostalgic memory for me.
that harmonica comes in ripping your heart into pieces
Truly. Never disappoints
Sometimes I feel like I'm losing my enthusiasm for new music. I just wanna play the hits. Then I hear a song like this and I'm 15 again.
I'm full agreement
You should try Glass Animals, won't be dissapointed
JeffreyG61 this comment is as true a year ago as it will ever be, I thank you.
Wawawaw Wawawa that's a mainstream song that I couldn't stop hearing when it was popular. If you went back and listened to it now, would it still jam?
T-Gmail Account Glass Animals isn't really mainstream, and fuck yes I could hear them every day
When we are our parents ages these songs are going to be like the Pearl Jam’s and nirvana songs from way back in the day. Man

yeah c: it was great
Had no idea who these guys were....saw them live when they opened for Dr. Dog in Detroit in 2016.....they absolutely crushed it. Been listening ever since.
The amount of passion coming from this group is incredible. The pinnacle being when he takes the harmonica from around his neck to belt the next line. wow.
Been listening to these guys for a little bit now and they definitely deserve more recognition than they have. True talent by far
Wow, commented this over 2 years ago now and this still remains one of my all time favorite songs & favorite band. It makes me feel something every single time. Will forever follow what these guys put out.
olivia rose I couldn't agree with you more on this same thing...I'm still blown away.
@@oliviarose530 ive gotta tell you I feel the same. Found the districts about 3 years ago and been my favorite band since
Dude is playing lead guitar, singing, and harmonica. So much talent and passion
Best live performance I’ve seen in years. Can’t believe I’m just now accidentally finding these guys. Chills
Im actually blown away... I was just browsing songs on youtube and this came up so I said "fuck it, lets try it".
It's easily one of the best songs I've heard in a long while.
People's blues of Richmond
J Grizzle you literally just saw a thumbnail and said "fuck it, let's try it."?
Do you abuse your dog?
why are its ears down?
J Grizzle yeah, he was sad as fuck. He had just had his nuts cut out and was wearing a cone. Probably the saddest day of his life.
J Grizzle and he was on pain meds lol

This is hilarious

He’s feeling this. This is a MOOD. We’ve all been there, and if not, maybe you should. Pure emotion. Met the entire band. I had to jump through some hoops, but it was worth it.
Love the build up to the ending. So amazing.

Love the districts. So underrated
That song brought an incredible vibe to my emotion. The lead singer has a very special flame burning inside of him.
Still feeling that soul in 2020
RIP to the loved ones lost from Covid-19
I will never get bored of this. God this band is amazing!
5 years later and this song still hits so hard. This band deserves more recognition...so underrated
The way he sings I need you in my heart is so beautiful
Came across this song three years ago in my freshman year of college. When i heard it I knew it was an instant classic. I've been performing their work all over my area, and the music is so true three years later here I am once again.
Chills and tears every time

Update: Just saw them live for the first time last night. It was like hearing the song again for the very first time.
I went to their concert and it was the most perfect, passionate feeling:) Their music, lyrics, and style are the best, I just wish more people knew about them so they could hear the greatness!!
Amazing, found this band accidentally... you can feel they play from their hearts with passion... it's not always like this nowadays...
Passion... I like that word and I think that sums this band up well.
so..........I'm looking through the line up for end of the road festival & I come across these fellas. Oh my, I am so looking forward to seeing Them before they go onto the main stages........& they will.
I saw this live on Saturday. Wow, experiencing this live was magic. Everyone went crazy and I was all the way in front of the pit!!!
That breakdown gave me major goosebumps, these guys are something else.
oh mon bébé,,je ressens toute la douleur de ces cris,,que je n ai pu voir,,,je t aime tant,,,tu me manques mon ange,,,,tu étais pur,,bienveillant,,je ne sais pas comment vais je finir sans toi,,,
the songs from this album came from the heart. Whenever I feel nostalgic about those times I listen to this one song.
2018 and Im just now hearing this song. Safe to say that I've been missing out.
What you are witnessing is the beginning of something. Something big. More importantly: something that people will love. Passion and collaboration are two working hands within this video... but it's everything that words aren't able to describe that make me love what I am watching here. Keep it up, fellas.

These great fields are stretching,
Taking me oh so far
Great fields are stretching,
Savannah stretching oh so far
And this dry air is taking
My girl and it's oh so hard
And I wish I had a melody for a songbird to sing back my love
Oh my savannah,
Did it have to be so hard?
Oh my savannah,
Taking all my love and all my heart
Tailor won't you make me
The finest suit so dark and black and grey
And old john won't you lend me
The finest gun your eyes have ever laid
The fastest bullet flying,
So quick nobody ever feel no pain
'Cause the plains they took my baby
And I'm gonna take her to the funeral beds to lay
And oh my savannah,
Did it have to be so hard?
Oh my savannah,
Taking all my love and all my heart
Oh no no... X3
And I'm struggling, and I'm stumbling,
And I need to start
I'm struggling, and I'm stumbling
I need you in my heart
Tailor won't you make me
The finest suit so dark and black and grey
And old john won't you lend me
The finest gun your eyes have ever laid
The fastest bullet flying,
So quick nobody ever feel no pain
'Cause the plains they took my baby
And I'm gonna take her to the funeral beds to lay
I hate to say I love you,
But oh goddamn I love you,
You know I do
But you're gone away, gone away, gone away
These great fields are stretching,
Taking me oh so far
