- I'm sure we've all come back from a car show and dreamed of owning that slammed R8 with the V10 tuned to 1000bhp, or the bmw 3 series m-coupe on air ride with deep dish bbs wheels. Well I certainly have. To contradict the afforementioned insanely high value and unattainable, I believe I have sealed the deal on what has to be the car guys bargain of the decade; I have given myself a budget of £2.5K to find a car, and modify it to showcar spec! VERY COMMON 1.8T TT ISSUE - OIL PICKUP BLOCKED = LOW OIL PRESSURE = OIL LIGHT
Oil pickup. Oil pressure sensor. And oil level sensor can cause amber light had same issue. Oil pressure light took sump off and cleaned pick up fine ever since. You can buy oil pressure kits aswell.. but either way easy fixes diy

I do hope the TT’s oil pressure sensor is faulty. Blocked oil pick up is possible.

As other have said, oil pick up feed will be blocked. The mesh gets clogged up. Simply take the sump off and replace the pick up feed. I use fully synthetic in my 1.8t to keep the sludge away. There’s also a bigger oil filter you can get for a4 b6’s like mine, not sure if the tt’s can also have the bigger filter.
Also a good idea to leave her ticking over for abit after a spirited drive, Keep that oil flowing instead of sat in the lines baking to death.
