I hope one day this becomes an alternative for plastic.
These were very popular in the 1960s and 70s. Also bamboo laminate bowls. All kinds of wood bowls really.
Yeah, it'll be only like 500 hundred times less eco friendly than plastic.
@@Hopeswilldie ??
@@Hopeswilldie I think u meant more.
@@Hypob you wouldn't need to plant more coconut trees if companies selling coconut for cooking purposes around the world stopped wasting the coconut shells
Probably the most precise, yet complicated way to do this. Indians do it everyday with a machete and a knife.
I wish the world would turn ti these kind of environmental friendly materials!!!
The world turned away from these materials.
If we gonna to use and made like this then the soceity will call us that - are insane
it starts with you
Go buy coconuts in your supermarket and do it 👍🏻 be the change you want to see
Indians could break it into two even equal halves with just a stone and one go 😂
Daily practice duh!
Yeah! we are expertised in it..lol
😁
But it's not even
Okay I can definitely make this myself
*pulls out sand belt machine *
Yeah scratch that
to be honest he just does that to make the bottom flat so if you really want to make this you can probably use a file to make the bottom area flat without the need of a sand belt machine

This is so common in the islands. So while it may be a discovery for you; this invention has been around for decades. Rolling my eyes!
Such a shame they are not sold worldwide so we can finally get rid of plastic
Here's a little trick to save some time, after cutting it in half place it in the freezer over night, the meat will pop out easily leaving a clean surface inside, and you can still eat the meat.
+Jon Rothenbusch thank you so much for your suggestion. I'll try it next time
It's good idea,I do the same
Don't waste all that delicious meat or the milk
The meat of earth that doesn’t have to be killed to eat 😳
@@dreamsaresharedhere_ Good luck with that coconut beef in your burger :D xD
I love the coconut bowl. It's made of nature, so it's not harmful to the body.🤗👍
We can use this instead of plastics
Just use wooden bowls
We were using these ..

Not only Coconut Bowl, in Indian villages people also make big spoon with coconut.
Plz...explore bro
Wow! Awesome!!!!
😂😂
Yes
Plus with no such advance tools
Bye bye plastic...
In South India we break at least one coconut every day using stone and scrap coconut flesh so easily in home we don't need any machine s .......good bowl
I think you are very genius.
can relate to this!
True..
hahaha ...good thats called traditional way withoud extra expenditure
But they need to use those machines other wise it will break into irregular shape.. btw in other part of India we also used to break coconuts without any tools..
They are beautiful. Coconut is also amazingly rot resistant. I "lost" a half shell in some trench digging spoil which remained there for about 15 years, deep inside damp clay soil. When I eventually dug away that pile I found the coconut shell still in perfect condition. There was also some wood in taht pile which had disintegrated to mush.
Omg I remember my grandpa making this like 20 years ago!! I used to pour my warm milk, my juice or anything in it.
You brought me back so many memories. Thank you!!!
Had a go at this today after watching your video, cheers for the instructions, worked a dream!.
i have one of these, which i bought, and they are beautiful. My country has the potential to mass produce these, but sadly, it's up to the public to receive them. Education on environmental subjects is painfully lacking...

The bowls look awesome, natural and thus expensive.
Nice video, Thanks.
Those are some sweet-looking bowls. My only experience with a coconut was when some friends and I got drunk one night, bought a coconut and tried to figure out how to crack it open. We were about to run it over with a car, but then we forgot what we were doing and drove to Taco Bell.

,"my only experience with a coconut" hahaha
I think the bowl can go by adding coconut oil instead of mineral oil. Here in India we do the same thing
Nireeksha Anantram it might flavor your food if you use coconut oil, trust me, you don’t want coconut pasta.
So you can use them for serving food like gravy, soups, meat, rice etc?
very fine job!
as of this moment, 1K people with no taste for arts and crafts had no clue why they clicked on the thumbs down button!
guys finally now I know the secret why god has made coconut into bowl shape

Coconut is not is bow shape. It is in round shape. When you cut in to half. it will be in Bow shape.
best survival video, just in case if you're stuck in a an island and you need a bowl to store your berries or drink some coconut milk or water

Love it. I wish i can have coconuts to make a complete set of bowls.
So, you live in place that don't have coconut huh?
You should plant some coconut trees and in the future you could make coconut bowl by yourself! Good luck!

So while most ppl argue whether we should use coconut shells from now on and others thinking that deforestation is wrong, I’d like to point out that I appreciate your creativity. This is art. You have a unique talent. I never thought of this and it’s brilliant.
Wowwww.... It's very nice❤️

I don’t have all mashines😫😫
You don't need it. Power tools just speeds up the process.
You can use all hand tools if you want.
Sandpaper, saw, knife, marker, and oil. That´s all you need. Just a slow proces.
Most of steps u can do it in shops where they sell coconut just tell them cut the coconut into half

why to apply mineral oil? Is it compulsory? will it do well without mineral oil????? 😕 😐
Gifty Singh you do that to seal the wood
You can apply hot coconut oil or boil it in coconut oil and sun dry it.
Linseed Oil works too. Can be used on regular wood as well to make it weather resistant and seal the surface. Because it becomes a polymer.
Super👏👏👏👏👏👍
Absolutely stunning!!!! Thank you for the video! I LOVED it! God Bless!
Where to buy all these machinery
ebay is the usual place. But you don't need machines. I used a handsaw, then left the coconut in the sun to loosen the meat. I did it all by hand.

u r brillent guy ....god bless u
I'm interested.. How long do bowls last? And how can I keep my coconut bowl in tip top condition?
They should last a while, to keep it in the best condition clean it by hand, not by dishwasher, and use food grade mineral oil, like the kind he used in the video, you can get it at the home depot, where the paint is
Looks like so much work
People need a tutorial for this? I literally made this when I was 7 years old with a hacksaw and sandpaper. 🤣🤣

wood saw
Just hit it with something hard .
You can use the back of axe or with anything blunt but hard. Give it few hits and it will crack open. If it doesn't open right away you can continue to gently pry it with the sharp side of the axe. It requires practice to get beautiful shape but if you're lucky you can get one from first try!
Romove all e xtra fibres, soak for a few mins in water and drain, hit with a big meat cleaver to make small grooves along the line you want to break it tgen give a sharp tap with the same. It will make a fairly clean crack in the shell. Not so smooth and professional looking as shown here, but good enough. Its easier to scrape off coconut meat on evenly cut coconut on our traditional scraper in India. Tha t s how I know.
I have so many coconut bowl. I make it Without any electronic machine. I make it only by cutter
As an islander I know what we use it for its for our traditional drink called kava
+Beaty Lailai: How's the taste of Kava?
Beaty Lailai I heard of kashmiri kawa....
Kava is a Fijian traditional drink. Fiji is an island, if you Google you'll find more about it.. 👩🏝🏕🏖🏞
Avneeta Swashna Its not only Fijian Its all of polynesia
Levaula Te'o good to know!
*Thanks Nature* 😍😍
Out Standing, really helpful for plants , Thanks... 👍
Well our plastic is really helpful for animals
It kills thousands of animals per day
And dwarf coconut trees totally don't give off up to 120+ coconuts per year
And plastic is totally not killing off fish and endangered turtles and their totally isn't so much plastic in the ocean that in one part of the world plastic covers 5+ miles of the ocean alone
NOT including the beaches that are covered in plastic
Good job... you can add even more creative things in it ...
At our Grandma's house i saw serving big spoons made of shells and bamboo. Ie 45 years ago.

Where am I supposed to get all those machines 😁
Can you wash it like any normal bowl?
It could be! But you shouldn't soak it in the water longtime!
S u can
yes wash in hotwater is a good option.
You can but you'll have to reapply the mineral oil, i recommend using beeswax instead or any other edible wax so that it doesn't wash out if you use it for soups or if you wash it
should you apply the oil before every use or just once you create the bowl?
