I’m so pleased to find someone else living in an RV. We live in one too but we’re in Georgia. We moved here from Texas. Texas has had some really bad winter storms the past two years. We learned to insulate the windows better with reflectix and thermal curtains. And the heated hoses. I had to wrap the hoses in the emergency blanket because the water inside the hose still froze. And we used a pop-up green house tent for the water pump and they helped a lot for the water not to freeze in the pump.

I moved into a 5th wheel and winter was a new experience. First I bought bubble wrap to go over the windows which also gave me more privacy. My first winter I bought heat tape and wrapped it around the water hose then covered it with foil and then the long insulating rounds. This was a pain and next winter I got the insulated heated hose....much better. I used RV antifreeze in my toilet every time I emptied the black water tank it and I put in a gallon of it every time because I heard horror stories of it freezing....so overkill but it never froze.I left the grey water pipe open and when I emptied the black water pipe I filled up the bathtub with water and a little pinesol and flushed it out every time. I also had a friend remove the flex hose and replaced it with PVC so the grey and black water moved through easier and less problems with the flex tearing or breaking. I put heat tape on all the plumbing and covered it with insulation. Then I spread dried peppermint & lavender all under the RV to keep rodents at bay. Then I cut out foam boards to wrap around the perimeter to keep the wind out. I would have loved to have a mini wood stove because my heater kept giving me grief not working and it would be 42 degrees inside in the morning....damn cold. I bought a Tripod to give the RV more support. And I put jacks underneath the side out and used shims to keep it safe from the winds we had. I cleaned out the water heater and replaced the hardware because it was all rusted. I covered my AC with a big garbage bag and duct taped it down for the winter. Replaced the vents and put better covers on it. There is a lot of work to be done to have a good winter. I made a huge mistake when the heater went out trying to heat with hot water on the stove....OMG there was too much humidity in the air and my RV was actually wet on the walls inside...never do that again...lol. You learn by mistakes that is for sure.

Oh no!! 😖 Winters can be so rough in a rig so I’m really hoping we were diligent enough 😂😅

Wait?! Is that little dishwashing tub specifically for dumping at sewer stations? With the big round hole at the bottom? Where'd you get that? Looks like a life saver!
I usually disconnect the plumbing under the sink and put a bucket there but sometimes i forget and it overflows with dirty dish water 🤢
I'd be so down for an entire video on RV - dishwashing/cleaning hacks and organisation

I got it at Walmart I think. It is a collapsable camping sink! Its been the perfect solution for us. Super affordable too. I don't think its made specifically for sewer stations but its been working great!
I would love to make a whole video about that!!

Water and vinegar… for washing dishes while saving water

We use it instead of the faucet for dishes to conserve water!! Great for rigs with small water tanks 🙌🏻
