Exclusive Interview with Shantanu Roy, CMD BEML & ICF GM B.G. Mallya on Vande Bharat Sleeper Version
New Delhi: In an exclusive interview, Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML, and B.G. Mallya, General Manager of Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, shed light on the exciting developments regarding the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train. This initiative, if successful, promises to deliver an unparalleled travel experience for passengers, with the first prototype expected to roll out within this fiscal year.
Shantanu Roy shared insights into the collaborative efforts between BEML, ICF, and the Railway Board to develop the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat trains. He stated, "If all goes well, we will come out with a world-class unmatched travel experience with the first prototype (of Vande Bharat sleeper train) within this financial year itself." He emphasized that Vande Bharat has been a game-changer for Indian commuter rail, and it all began with Train 18.
Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently unveiled images of the 'Concept train - Vande Bharat (sleeper version)' on social media, with plans for its launch in 2024. The Vande Bharat Express sleeper train is designed to achieve speeds of 160 km per hour and will consist of 16 bogies, with an approximate capacity to accommodate 887 passengers.

I cannot be more happy than this looking at that design ❤ I just really hope that this is the finalized design otherwise will be very disappointed. Thay design literally looks comparable to any Western or Japanese trains. Proud of Indian railways and the government for their work 🇮🇳

@@gauravsharma_7 Sky blue is the best as I think it is like Aqua blue (color of Mumbai Metro Line 3). Aqua blue is lighter & is much more prominent compared to Navy blue.
Also, Vande Bharat trains already have Navy blue with White combo.

Recently I travelled by Bangalore Rajdhani from AGC>SBC. Until Bhopal the ride was smooth, subsequent sections, track quality started getting poorer and poorer. In the last section from Secunderabad onwards to Bangalore, speed was restricted to 100, and very shaky. Unless tracks improve significantly, this situation won’t change.
Also, NONE of the toilets are meant for senior citizens. No convenient hand-grips, almost impossible to sit and get up due to the heavy shaking.
This was RAJDHANI with LHB coaches. I hope Vande Bharat is better. Bharat’s population is also aging and trains need to cater to seniors also.
I have travelled on VB. It is smoother than Mercedes Luxury Buses. On new 130 kmph tracks you cannot feel like you are travelling on ground at all. No jerks in the toilet area. Super smooth. No road in India will give you such a smooth ride.

Vande Bharat (Odisha) and it was shaking just like any normal train. It wasn't fast either so the price for the ticket wasn't justified.

Sleeper version colour combination is very good.
First Train of Sleeper version should run from Mata Vaishnav devi katra to Rameswaram/kanyakumari. Let's see how much time train take to connect North to South. Sri Mata vaishnav devi to Rameswaram and Kanyakumari are two routes on which Railway should start sleeper version first. Train speed will actually tested to cover 2 corners of India. All states will benefit from this train. Hope vande bharat will be able to cover distance in 48 hours from Vaishnav devi to Kanyakumari which currently has 3-4 days travel time

Hope they include entertainment and connectivity features like USB CABLE charger , hi speed Wi-Fi connectivity and Digital Touch screen for information. Moreover, touch feel also improve. What happen is first vande baharat seats plastic or cable tray plastic is more advance than rest vande Bharat. Hopefully they will not make desi type train.

There should be sniper towers, Ai controlled machine guns mounted on fences and barbed wires whenever the track passes from a Mzlim Majority Area.
Also there must be constant raids and Drone surveilance in these areas to prevent any attacks

ডিজাইনটা খুব সুন্দর হয়েছে। আগের বন্দেভারত ট্রেনের ডিজােইনের চাইতে আরো সুন্দর। কারন আগের বন্দেভারতের সামনের যে ডিজাইন আছে তার চাইতে বেশ সুন্দর। মনে হতছে বুলেট ট্রেনের সামনে যে ডিজাইন ঠিক সেম ডিজাইন।

Third generation VB ka design speed 220 KMPH hogi. Uski tender bhi aa chuki hai
speed se kuch nhi hoga, japan mai elevated track jaha lok jar kar k tack pe rod nhi rakh sakte, humare yeha khola hai tracks. mere hisab se hum elevacted toh nhi kar sakte tracks ko but humei fencing aur electric fencing karna chahiye tracks ka taki koi road aur patthar rakh nhi sakte

Government need to ensure the safety for the passengers as we have seen lot of incidents where anti social elements have tried a lot to derail the train through stone pelting, putting iron n stone on tracks. Government should embark sensitive zone across the track and give proper safety in that sensitive zone.
A few years ago nobody was proud of indian railways, look how times have changed, credit goes to both govt. and railway employees, train manufacturing employees and engineers. But a lot more needs to be done.

For the long run and to manager speed it’s a long term but have to agree that fast track management should be done this will help train to run to its top speed not restricted speed also in order to add more people Our engineers should add one more locomotive in centre like a semi automatic either direction push or pull this will really accelerate the more advance Vande Bharat versions❤

Coming to main part, the Design of the face could have been more Aerodynamic and modern European type. This one seems like old BRITISH TRAIN used some 25-30 years back in the UK 🇬🇧.
So far the Travel experience of Indian Railways is concerned it has become better under Modi government.
The Leftist and Corrupt Congressis gave us DIRTY TRAIN STATIONS, DIRTY UGLY RED or GREEN COLOUR TRAINS AND Unhelpful Railway Staff.
SAFFRON & GREY LIVERY on new VANDEY BHARAT 🇮🇳 LOOKED AMAZING but it has not gone down well with certain people due to their bias towards Hindus. Saffron colour looks perfect and beautiful and it will get lesser dirty.
For 50 years successive Congress Government had hired COLOURBLIND people, who designed & made third class trains with UGLY COLOURS on it.
Lastly INDIAN RAILWAYS & INDIA 🇮🇳 was UNLUCKY that we had a Criminal as Railways Minister, who had only one priority to give EVERY BIHARI a job in Railways.
The main purpose of INDIAN RAILWAYS should be to give a NEAT & CLEAN and PLEASANT TRAVEL EXPERIENCE. The second purpose of INDIAN RAILWAYS is to EARN MONEY FOR COUNTRY, through passenger, Freight and various other services.
