If you're looking for some tips to keep your drying towel in better condition, here's a link to a recent video I made on how to wash microfiber towels properly: ruclips.net/video/jpaZ5hki4CQ/видео.html
as someone who hates drying the car the most out of the wash process i appreciate how many times you soaked and dried that car for the testing. well done :)
Who knew there was more to a trying towel that there actually is. Thank you Heather for your time and dedication for this 'towel test' for comparison as choosing a suitable tool to dry your pride and joy or someone else pride and joy can be a bit of a head scratch...lol. Since watching your videos I now start with the glass to dampen the towel then move onto the paint and I must say, great tip!
That is some dedication there Heather! I hate the drying stage as I am normally tired from the 2-3hr detail prior.....but as you said - I would have loved to have seen your new neighbours faces when you washed and dried the car so many times :D Cheers G
I love my 20" x 30" hybrid weave 1000gsm towel, it works really well with my drying aid of choice (Turtle Wax Ceramic Wet Wax). I soak my towels in a microfiber detergent as soon as I finish using them, this helps to stop the product clogging up the fibers. Loving the content.
Hi Heather, another in depth review of our passion. I myself use on my own cars an ultra soft medium sized microfibre and a smaller soft towel that holds 7 times it's weight in water both supplied by Mitchell & King but I also like to use the towel by Sam's Details which I mist with a QD to soften the fibers prior to drying and get it damp before touching the paint by starting on the glass. These methods work for me on my own cars.
Good video. So far, all ive used is Rag company Gauntlet in 3 different sizes. I've found that using the largest towel takes a little finesse with 2 hands using one hand as an anchor point, and the other hand wiping. Then switch off anchor hands and wipe with the other. Big towels can hit the floor/ground, and that picks up dirt. Big mistake! Saturated towels do get heavy when wet, so I try to use the right size towel for the job. I do wash often with microfiber soaps to preserve the towels. I think drying towels are tools just like a polisher or soap cannon, so I try my best to take care of them. $$$$ expensive. Just wanted to share my experience with you, Heather. Thank you so much for the video and time it took to make it Heather.
Thanks very much for watching Kim! That’s so true, larger towels can be very tricky to handle and the added weight when saturated makes it even harder. And yep they’re not cheap so it’s a very good idea to look after them!
Heather at it again my girl you are making me spend euros every time I watch you😂bless you My favourite are car pro dehydrate like the gyeon but a bit longer fibers and also the liqid8r the big one they just dry so easy my suv car like a game enjoying it every time
Really liking this new channel! I've got a smallish gauntlet which I use for the shuts and running around after the main dry, to mop up drips, I reallly like it. My main tool is the goldmember from the leather company or cars and donuts, twist loop. I also have one from infinity wax, it's long twist loop ome side and shorter, plusher on the other, my issue with that one is, it's too big 😅. All the best. 👍
Another great video! I currently use the 20 X 24 Liquid8R and i love it. It’s the best towel that i have ever used. I want to get the 25 X 36 version next. I just have 3 coupes and 1 sedan.
Great video and I love how clear your explanations were! I have noticed indeed some marring when using twist loop towels on Subaru paint which in my experience is as soft as your Mazda MX5. I started using a rinseless solution as a drying aid recently and it seems better but I will try your technique with the softer towels instead. Thank you!
Thank you! I know your pain with the Japanese paint haha. Definitely worth giving a softer towel a try and just patting it rather than dragging, pretty much impossible to mar it with that combo!
I have all the TRC towels you reviewed. My favourite is my 20 x24 Liquid8r and yesterday I used it to dry our RAV4 Hybrid. I suggest you try the Sudz Budz drying towel it is my second go to. 🇨🇦👍👍
Awesome video and great review. I consider myself an OCD detailing enthusiast and have tons of different drying towels including all of the ones from TRC. The best towel I have in my arsenal is the Klin Korea Drying Duo Evo edition. Hands down the best.
Great review, clearly explained Heather, from your experience of detailing cars......(arms like the Rock!). Enjoy the football ⚽️ if you are cheering on tonight !
I just got the Liquid8R, didn't find it good enough to finish the car (saloon), had to get out the Monster drying towel to finish. Then the heavens opened and soaked the car again. LOL. Towel now been washed so hopefully will perform better, and like you say try sheet off some of the beads so less water to dry should help. And thanks for explaining the different constructions, will save the waffle weave for drying the glass now.
@@autocarehqextraThanks to you and I concur with all your assessment on the towels since I had similar experience with them but also have with Autofiber towels. Something I have done with drying aides after using the drying towels is wash them with All Clear and use distilled white vinegar on the softener dispenser. The distilled white vinegar will break up the protection that is on the towels
A good video & alot of effort etc has been done regarding the tests...I'm guessing your neighbours will let you off though? lol....interesting re hydrophobic drying aids though! :)
Thank you for this. Any chance you could do a similar video with mf's. Just so many, even from TRC alone, and I'm baffled. I've just bought 7 types, read the descriptions multiple times and I'm now more confused than when i just had the Blue Bilt Hamber one. Thanks
Great video and very informative. Do you have any tips on how to wash the towels after use? Are you washing them after each car or letting them dry and re use multiple times before washing? At the moment I have 4 that were donated to me as I’m fundraising for my kid but have been looking into getting a higher GSM rated one too.
Thank you! I wash them after every use. I’ve got a video lined up on this later this month but here’s an article with all the info autocarehq.com/how-to-wash-microfiber-towels-properly-rules-tips/
Have you ever tried a korean micro-twist pile? They are fantastic, DIY detail has one, and I believe Klien makes one as well. I highly recommend trying one if you have an opportunity...GOAT
Hello from Russia) Thank you so much for your videos. There are a lot of interesting and useful things. The question on the video- is what kind of microfiber shampoo do you use? Maybe a few? Good luck.)
Thank you very much! I usually use The Rag Company/ P&S Rags to Riches microfibre wash. I’m planning a video at the end of this month on how I wash and dry all my microfibre towels 😊
I forgot to ask you. Did you know Dane at the Rag Company bought a Mazda MX5 he doesn’t talk much about it but he did showcase it at this past TRCMA back in April. Maybe you can give him some tips on interior and exterior care👍

Thanks for watching! Haha I honestly regretted it a couple of towels in 😂😂
I've just bought the Gyeon Silk Dryer as a backup for my car dryer and it's look I've bought a good choice. Thanks for the review and advice.
Thanks for watching Simon :)

Thank you for this distinction between the two blends🤗🤗🤗. The 1500 my favorite and it’s pretty 👍

Can you give reasons why?
Awesome video, very informative, great useful knowledge and good choices as well. Thank you

Thanks Graham! I'll definitely be watching, hopefully it's not a disappointment haha
@autocarehqextra Hi Heather, It's a difficult watch these current England games. If it gets too much to watch, I'll detail my car instead ! 🙂
Good shout 😂😂
@autocarehqextra If it goes to penalties, Heather and we win, I'll buy a Kranzle TS !🙂
Haha I hope it does then 😂😂
Looking great as ever Heather, great video. Have you tried Sams detailing drying towel. They’re durable I’ve had mine over a year and still perform.
I rate that towel as well
Thanks Jonny 😊 I’ve not tried that one but heard it’s a great option!
What would you recommend for washing the car ie wash pad / mitt / noodle. What do you use? Could you do a video on this? TIA x
Great video Heather lots to choose from depending on size of car and how big you are to hold em lol
Thanks very much for watching Dave :)

Liquid8r is my favorite drying towel
Could you do how to look after the towels best,ie how to wash them and what with
Yep I've got that video lined up to go out towards the end of this month
I’ve dropped a few lately (drying towels I mean Heather).
Talk about burning money…
🙄🙄🙄😝😝😝
The Rag Company Gauntlet is my favorite, I prefer smaller ones for rinse less washes.
Yep the Gauntlet is an excellent choice!
A good video & alot of effort etc has been done regarding the tests...I'm guessing your neighbours will let you off though? lol....interesting re hydrophobic drying aids though! :)
