And the Star Wars universe was developed in conversations between Lucas & Joseph Campbell, the late 🐐 of European mythology studies, & was constructed to mirror our own legends & I think he hoped it would become one. For a contemporary TV show simply developed for the fall season to hit so high & resonate so deeply is incredible!

Man, Gus was downright scary. Like, horror movie scary. He looked and acted just like an ordinary friendly civilized man when, in fact, he was a dangerous, calculating, cold-blooded murderer. He'd shake your hand with one hand and slit your throat with the other. His subtlety is what made him so terrifying. At least Tuco would look you in the eye and tell you he's gonna kill you, but with Gus, you won't see it coming.

This may be a strange comparison, but Gus always reminded me a bit of Hannibal Lecter. Especially in his mannerisms: an obsession with excellence and dignified presentation (right down to the nervous tie adjustment), the love and appreciation for food, the traumatic childhood in which both characters starved (albeit in very different ways), and habit of constantly surrounding themselves with people who adore them and thoroughly trust them while committing constant acts of evil just out of sight of their party guests. They’re both socially beloved and intellectually praised puppet masters who love food and well tailored suits, but with a shared hatred of rude and sloppy people.
The two main differences are that Gus isn’t a cannibal, and Hannibal Lecter was born into generational wealth while Gus was born into poverty and became wealthy on his own.

Esposito is a master of his craft. I was watching NYPD Blue and he turns up playing a character who was pretty much Omar Little from the wire.

Gus came from nothing and defeated the cartel. His cold, calculating, ruthless discipline and attention to detail enabled him to accomplish more than the volatile genius Walter ever could have.

Gustavo Fring is absolutely the scariest villain ever. I absolutely loved that character. And Giancarlo Esposito did an excellent job portraying him!

Gus Fring is textbook perfect example of a high functioning, factor 1 psychopath. Tuco is a perfect example of a reactive/impulsive factor 2 psychopath. Really some genius work all of the way around.

dude this is serious stuff. I love this channel to the bottom of my heart, i have been able to understand characters at such a deep level that its really interesting. Please keep making vids like this. A suggestion: the dark psychology of some of the ufc fighters like Jon jones, sean strickland, or a more detailed psychology of conor mcgregor mentally beating his opponents.

There are times I wonder if Gus had been more forthcoming about his plans to take revenge against the cartel for what they did to him and Max, would he and Walt been less paranoid towards each other? When Jessie learned the truth and saw the plan come to fruition, he came around to Gus and Mike (who also came to trust Gus as well).

Your content is great, I love how in depth you go into the psyche.
I wanted to say BTK was caught because he sent a floppy disk to a paper or the police… after asking them if he could be traced and they lied and told him no. Further developments in DNS profiling was able to connect him to other murders.

You're correct. They traced the floppy disk back to BTK's church. He could've escape from all punishment but his ego got him caught.
