In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock.
Let’s hear Paul Allen’s thoughts
OK, Patrick Bateman, we heard you the first time.
Ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke.
At least Patrick Bateman had awesome taste in music
I’m so glad someone else thought this
😢Hopefully you are fine and well Phil! You have millions of fans who love you and wish you a happy life in your old age.
"Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece."
I was looking for an American Psycho quote and I was not disappointed. Thanks.
@@milesjolly6173 we all did
Everyone has a place ?? Try the lamb tho and some early stuff ?? U may need a few tries ? 😂
Saw the movie too. Keep it up.
1:04.
Imagine how many tears has been shed to this song since 1986
So much talent out of this band, was lucky enough to see them play with Chester Thompson.
“Sabrina, Don’t just stare at it, Eat it!”
I knew I’d find an AP reference. You make me proud.
Patrick Bateman 😂👍
This song speaks volumes about what is going on with my husband and I. I can't do this anymore, I'm sorry 🙏
Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your a**hole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
iconic
Based. Im sold.
Let’s hear Paul Allen’s review

This song is so beautiful. Flawless vocals. You know I love you Phil Collins. Thank you so much for your beautiful music.

“I can feel your eyes go through me..” Still to this day, gets me every time.
You got that right!! Mos def!!
not just that, but the instrumental that follows
Yeah, I prefer prog Genesis, "Supper's Ready" and all that, but that doesn't mean I can't love THIS, because I do.
Sometimes a pop album like "Invisible Touch" is just what I need to hear.
Thankfully, Genesis have a kind of music for nearly every mood. 💚
Yes I'm with you, l much prefer the early 'proper' Genesis, however l do enjoy their later work and Invisible Touch is one of their best post Gabriel/Hackett efforts.
👍 👌 je confirme : Album très Pop mais SUPERBE...😉🤩👋✌❣🇧🇪
I saw them live for this tour. a packed veterans stadium. I went for their older material, but I was delighted to see the Brazilian, live.
exactly, the best thing about Genesis is that they have such a big discography that everybody likes at least 1 song by them
God this song just makes me happy. Especially that instrumental synth solo at 3:06. I can’t stop listening to it.
Another great track by Phil Collins and Genesis
The first time /minute I heard it I knew I’d love it forever
It's probably one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my life.
It never gets old and it will always be a timeless classic.
Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
This breakup song is about a guy who thought he found his everlasting love, but is now watching it tear apart. He would like to repair the damage, but he cannot, because he is “in too deep.”
A band composition, the lyrics came courtesy of Phil Collins. At the time, his Genesis tunes were generally written in character and crafted for hit potential. And it did the trick❕ “In Too Deep” (1986) became the fourth of five Top 5 singles from the “Invisible Touch” album (1986).
This piece is used in a memorable scene in the acclaimed movie “AMERICAN PSYCHO” (2000), where the serial killer Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) plays the track for two ill-fated prostitutes at his luxury apartment. The character tells them : “‘In Too Deep’ is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I’ve heard in rock.”
About the music video, keyboardist Tony Banks explained : “The songs that were most difficult in a way were the ones that didn’t have a particular thing to act out. A song like ‘In Too Deep,’ for example, was quite difficult to do - it was just a performance video.” 💚🎵💜🎬💛
I love this. Genesis came to my city years ago and I wanted to go but I had to work.
Tony Banks rocks!😎🎹🎶🎼Support Tony by buying 5 or any other of his classical albums!🎵🥳It's the 10th anniversary of SIX - so maybe a good opportunity to buy this album, too! 🥳
One of the most beautiful songs ever written! The sacred sounds of Genesis 💖🎨
It took me 47 yrs to understand

Another masterpiece from the greatest music era of all time…
Lyrics to this iconic Genesis Track: 👑👑👑
All that time I was searching
Nowhere to run to, it started me thinking
Wondering what I could make of my life
And who'd be waiting
Asking all kinds of questions, to myself
But never finding the answers
Crying at the top of my voice
And no one listening
All this time
I still remember everything you said
There's so much you promised
How could I ever forget
Listen, you know I love you, but I just can't take this
You know I love you, but I'm playing for keeps
Although I need you, I'm not gonna make this
You know I want to, but I'm in too deep
So listen, listen to me
Oh you must believe me
I can feel your eyes go through me
But I don't know why
Oh I know you're going, but I can't believe
It's the way that you're leaving
It's like we never knew each other at all
It may be my fault
I gave you too many reasons, being alone
When I didn't want to
I thought you'd always be there
I almost believed you
All this time
I still remember everything you said, oh
There's so much you promised
How could I ever forget
Listen, you know I love you, but I just can't take this
You know I love you, but I'm playing for keeps
Although I need you, I'm not gonna make this
You know I want to, but I'm in too deep
So listen, listen to me
I can feel your eyes go through me
It seems I've spent too long
Only thinking about myself, oh
Now I want to spend my life
Just caring 'bout somebody else
Listen, you know I love you, but I just can't take this
You know I love you, but I'm playing for keeps
Although I need you, I'm not gonna make this
You know I want to, but I'm in too deep
You know I love you, but I just can't take this
You know I love you, but I'm playing for keeps
Although I need you, I'm not gonna make this
You know I want to, but I'm in too deep
You know I love you, but I just can't take this
You know I love you, but I'm playing for keeps
Although I need you, I'm not gonna make this
You know I want to, but I'm in too deep
Many thanks for the Lyrics of the song. I loved to read it, when i hear the song. ❤️😘❤️
Thanks again for the lyrics truly appreciate it
Thanks for the lyrics truly appreciate it
Very nice🍸
Thank you.
Because of all the bad traffic and all the bad things going on back in the 80s it was terrible
Another week of Genesis' Iconic work especially with this album, and this legendary track. A true one-of-a-kind this band is, with such an impact to all. A track filled with emotion, feeling, and memories for all, and one thats known as one of their best around the world. Long live legends, All the best. Amazing how much of an inspiration these guys have been. 👑
So you can copy the lyrics off the internet LOL
@@songmanl1480 Who hurt you man? Why you so pressed about it? I like reading the lyrics as the song plays, and many others do as well. Cope with it

Remember when trick of the tail came out? I do. I would never had thought Steve Hackett would leave and Genesis would write mushy love songs.
Genesis could do anything. They did write great pop songs. Remember the tension had left this band when Peter left and then Steve left and the band were more relaxed.
@@quaid667 they thought they were all done when Peter left what the hell are you talking about! At the time they didn't know Phil could sing!
@@songmanl1480 Usually bands with that much tension don't last long. Then they break up. Genesis didn't. They were a songwriting collective so what you talking about, now?
@@quaid667 thought the main reason why he left because his wife had a difficult pregnancy. Don't forget they did a reunion to help Gabriel out with financial problems in 1982 so I don't believe they were in that much odds with one another as you may think. But then again that's what I remember I don't live and breathe Genesis.
@@songmanl1480 he left because he had to lay an egg and Tony Banks doesn't like band members laying eggs all over the place. It's not a very Genesis thing to do.
Play the song over and over and over again with all the party animals around me
One of the most beautiful love songs from Genesis!🎹🎶♥️

Do you like Huey Lewis and the News?
We just covered this on our channel, What a great song and is so much fun to play. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
It's a song that I have loved since my breakup with M.C., He told me that he still wanted to be with me. In the beginning of my husband and I, Relationship, M.C. asked me to get back with him...I told him that I was in a relationship with someone. Oh well 😢❤
Masterpiece of love! One of my favourites! I love you Genesis! ❤️🎼🎶
My favorite Genesis song ever & absolutely love the music video too!! Memories of being a teen in Summer 1987 in Wilson, North Carolina 🥲!! God I miss the 1980s so much. Wish I could've been stuck in it forever!! Best times to be a kid and teen I swear cause we had actual talent & vocalists & deep songwriting to help you understand the heartbreak and love and loss not just sex and profanity. We 80s kids and teens sure had it good and we took it for granted. God if I had only known would have appreciated it more when I was young
You need to go and listen to Suppers Ready mate, or Firth of Fifth, or Back in NYC or.... This is a Phil Collins solo song played by Genesis. I can only assume you're not a prog rock fan? Each to their own.

We all miss the 80s babe 😁

I heard this song by chance. I was scanning through the radio stations the other day, and this was playing. I saw it said Genesis and thought they sound just like Phil Collins. Fast forward a week or two later, and I'm finding out Phil was part of the group 😂😂

In TOO Deep, Many TOO Many
I have read people disliking this track and i can't understand it, is really complex and fun to play on the keyboard, i like this one better than Throwing It All Away, even though that track is really pretty also.
Hey you made it to the premiere this time. I remember you were quite saddened when you missed man on the corner.
Phil collins had the coolest songs back in the 80s. I always loved the drums in his songs.

Ugh this song breaks my heart 💔. Reminds me of being 25 and watching my husband take his life and his last word's to me he couldn't take his pain away more and I love you, I'm sorry and he was listening to me and handling me the gun and the stupid police grabbed me and BAM! All over myself and two other famous musicians. It still nails my heart all these year's later. Jan 3, 94 will forever live quietly in my heart. I ❤️ Genesis and Phil Collins.
