- How to swap sides or reverse the doors on a Samsung Fridge. I show step by step how to change the doors on a refrigerator so that they open in the opposite direction. This switch procedure is also explained in the manual that comes with the refrigerator but sometimes it helps to see it done so I thought I would film the process for all those that are gearing up to do this door direction change.

Gotta love Samsung. Get to the end of the instructions when you are almost done it says you will need 2 people to re-attach the lower door. I adapted and overcame. Shimmed the door up with my drill and a pair of scissors. Great vid. Thank you.

Just did same door swap on same refrigerator. Instructions had bottom hinge going in last but that made no sense so I did what you did. You also had one small screw on the middle hinge that you could not install since the grommets were blocking it. Same for me. To put that in you would have to install bottom hinge last. But that would have been really hard. Gaskets had to be turned 180 degrees too. Great job!

Wish I would have looked at this instead of trying to use the manual instructions. The way you did it make much more sense. For some reason I couldn't get the freezer door level but I'm going to take it off and try again using the manual as a spacer.

Everything was spot on...except the manual instructs you to turn both the fridge and freezer door rubber gaskets 180°. I don't know if it was in the video, maybe I missed it.

I was in Household Goods Moving for 35 years. Back in the day ... 70s ... Their was a backing plate behind the frame. When you took the screws out the plate fell inside and it was a bit tricky to get your fingers back in there to hold it and screw it back in. They finally riveted the backing plate making it easy to get done in a timely manner. Hope the house sale goes well. Looking forward to your move to Hawaii.

I have the exact fridge. Very helpful tutorial. Putting the bottom hinge on last is a huge PITA but I don't have any leftover screws! LOL!

Great video. I did come across this video looking for a visual instructions from the manual. Hope you notice the couple of steps you missed. 1 the wiring on top of the freezer door. 2 the wiring on top of the fridge, that blue wiring cap you said is nothing, you were suppose move the wires to the other side and plug into the door. 3 you forgot to rotate the gasket on both doors.
Also the way the wiring is going out for the freezer door is wrong. If u pay attention to how is going out of the bigger part of the hinge cover when he first removed the door. When putting back on it should exit the hinge cover the same way or else when you swing the door open IT WILL RIP IT
How do you rotate the gasket

I purchased a new SS Fridge and same as you I had to take the doors off to get it through the door. After I slid it in where it belonged I noticed the door was on the wrong side ( the freezer is on the bottom and pulls out same as a drawer) so I attempted to switch it to the other side but it seemed too hard to do. After about a week my wife said when are you going to put the door on, I said I tried to reverse it but I can't do it. So I put the door back on the way it came, so I took out the top cabinets and bottom cabinets on the opposite wall and moved the Fridge to the opposite side of the kitchen and hung the cabinets on the other side. Wow, my wife was so proud of me, said I was very smart. Just kidding my man, I love your jokes at the end of your videos, so I gave you one. God Bless and keep the videos coming.

I just bought the RT21M6215SR fridge (very similar model), if you need to swap the doors BEWARE of this model!!! the lower door hinge screws from my fridge were stripped from the factory. Im sure they put them in with an impact gun or something with excessive torque. Good luck trying to replace them as well. As far as I can tell, they are an M5 thread cutting screw with fine thread. The screws were so bad I can't even put the fridge door back on, and no I **did not** use a drill. I have successfully swapped fridge doors before on multiple refrigerators, this one is a VERY bad design!
Exactly the same thing just happened to me. I got the first 2 out, but the 3rd stripped using a hand screwdriver. I had to reverse the door due to renovations in the kitchen, so I had to get the plastic part off. I ground off the head of the screw and lifted out the part. When I tried to remove the screw with vice grips, it broke. There was no way it was going to come out.

Rookie Tip ('cause I'm not a pro): When using a flathead screwdriver as a prying tool, cover the tip of it with a piece of electrical/painter's tape to help prevent it from scratching up your stuff.

For anyone doing this, the hardware on the bottom hinge of the door is a PITA - my leveling legs and bottom post/bracket seem slightly different otherwise all parts were the same. May want to unload the fridge and set it on it's back. Thanks though, very helpful video.
Yes it was. The bolts didn't thread in I had to use a driver bit on a drill to get them to go in.

Thank you. However, it looks like you ran the wire out of the hinge plate wrong at the top of the freezer door. I've reversed many a fridge/freezer and this samsung was my first with the wire harness at the top and I had to check to see others had done it. Thank you for posting

Very helpful- same fridge. No mention about turning the gaskets 180 degrees like the manual, but then again the manual says to install the doors then the bottom hinge... should the gaskets be rotated?
I did rotate the freezer door gasket 180 degrees. DO NOT rotate the fridge gasket. That Wil cause the fridge door to not close.

I've heard people say this is easy to do. I don't agree. It seems to me like one would need a PhD in engineering to make that type of statement.
I think if you can switch the door opening, then you could probably solve the world hunger problem, too. While you are at it, as a side hustle, you could stop the destruction of the rain forest in a few weekends.

You bet! If you have the same fridge as the one in the video then you don't need to do anything with the gaskets.

I did, as it's mentioned in the manual and other videos. i am not 100% sure why, but mine slipped out pretty easy, and snapped back in, so i did 😊
Best way I found to clean coils is to put soapy water in pump sprayer and shoot hard stream at condenser and dirt clumps up and fails off. Coils that are hard to get to cannot get cleaned better, where a vacuum is useless and a coil brush makes dust and cannot reach.

I saw in the manual it says to turn the door gaskets 180°... did you do that or have you had any reason that they say to do that? I have a slight rubber squeak when the gasket makes contact with the fridge when barely open.
Any solution to that? Have the same issue. Tried reversing the gasket but there was no change. The moment the door closes or opens the gasket is too close to the frame and squeaks.
Did anyone experience after switching the doors the door not auto closing but having to be pushed a foot close to actually close. The hinges are making a tight sort of noise when closing.

it's why people struggle with this, because the manual states to put the top door on the hinge first, then slide the bottom on, then screw the bottom hinge on (NIGHTMARE).
Your way is much easier (I wish i saw this video before i started). I took it all apart again and did it your way the next day, as all the grease was gone when I attempted it the first time 😔

Doubt that this will get a reply but I have to try. Installing this fridge for a client and after switching the doors, the fridge swings several degrees farther than the freezer door. Stops are making contact just fine on both, it just seems that they go to different angles. Is this normal or have I done something wrong???

does Samsung make good refrigerators? Have not seen them for sale much, yours must be upper end model.
there is a problem with the ice makers on the French-door Samsung refrigerators that the company has yet to resolve or recall!
Actually most technicians hate working on Samsung fridges (mostly the French door style with the annoying ice makers that you mentioned). I dont particularly like them either since parts are not readily available and they seem to look better than they operate but at my house it was really hard to find a fridge that would fit the opening in the cabinets. This one had the perfect dimensions so I settled with a Samsung 😅

you forget to rotate 180° resins on each door, you will see it in your manual on the next of you last opened page ;) otherwise doors will not closed properly .

Sorry, I had to take the doors off in order to bring it into my house. It was raining so we did not film that part. They come off pretty easy and if you watch the end of the video where I put the doors back on, you will see which bolts/screws hold the doors in place.
