The court knows she's not going to show up for her arraignment. They plan on pocketing that bail money and issuing a bench warrant for her arrest so she can bail out again. It's a profit thing, pure and simple. They don't care about the business owners that are being harmed because the loss can be written off on taxes.
The justice system allows you freedom to bond out and hire a lawyer. A very nice right that people take for granted. If you're ever arrested for something you DIDN'T DO it gives you opportunity to defend yourself properly. The guilty use it to flee or not show up.

We need to bring back the good ol' days. Where you got arrested for shoplifting. When I was a kid, they would arrest you even if you were only 15. And back then, all 15 year old kids were scared to death to get in trouble (because they would be punished twice - by the cops and by their parents) so most kids were well-behaved. Now, there are kids that age who have already committed armed robbery, or murder. We are too soft now and we are seeing the consequences of that. Nobody is safe anymore.

It does not work that way any more. I used to do loss prevention. But after being assaulted many times (at least twice by 2 and 3 strikers) and not one being charged with more than petty theft I quit. Prosecutors do not care.
My kids and I almost got hit by some people who were stealing from a Walmart in Nashville(Charlotte Pike) a few years ago. We were walking through the parking lot towards the entrance and all of a sudden I saw this guy come running out of the store with a big box(I think it was a tv), he jumped into a waiting car with a woman driving, a plain clothed loss prevention employee was chasing him and started punching the window. The woman driving took off and turned down the aisle we were walking in and came literally inches from hitting us. My youngest was 2 at the time and my oldest was 5. It scared the shit outta me! The kids hardly even noticed. They got upset when they saw me upset😢 After it happened a bunch of people who saw it came running over to make sure we were ok. It was really scary. They could’ve killed or injured my kids over a fucking TV!!!🤬

Walmart should be held liable for their security guard attempting to get photographs of their vehicle. Had he not followed them out of the store the three customers would have peacefully driven away and been able to enjoy the fruits of their labors with their families. It does not work that way any more. I used to do loss prevention. But after being assaulted many times (at least twice by 2 and 3 strikers) and not one being charged with more than petty theft I quit. Prosecutors do not care.
My kids and I almost got hit by some people who were stealing from a Walmart in Nashville(Charlotte Pike) a few years ago. We were walking through the parking lot towards the entrance and all of a sudden I saw this guy come running out of the store with a big box(I think it was a tv), he jumped into a waiting car with a woman driving, a plain clothed loss prevention employee was chasing him and started punching the window. The woman driving took off and turned down the aisle we were walking in and came literally inches from hitting us. My youngest was 2 at the time and my oldest was 5. It scared the shit outta me! The kids hardly even noticed. They got upset when they saw me upset😢 After it happened a bunch of people who saw it came running over to make sure we were ok. It was really scary. They could’ve killed or injured my kids over a fucking TV!!!🤬
