You are really great at these disc reviews. I watch way too many of them and I can say yours have been the best. You really grow through a lot of situations. Makes me feel so much more comfortable before I buy.
@billbittick I almost said how similar it is to a Roadrunner. I've also had a very flippy Heat that had a similar flight. Definitely depends on the plastic and how beat in it is, but I would say they compare!
Started playing a little over a year ago and am almost 60. Tech Disc I throw on consistent hyzer of between 8 and 10 degrees and speed of between 50 and 55 mph. The Shift has been great. Right now my most thrown driver if I need a flip up to straight with very minimal turn and far pushing minimal fade -- basically my straightest driver. That proton should maintain flight characteristics for a long time makes it ideal for me. It is not a great headwind disc unless powered down and thrown with more hyzer. But typical conditions get me a little over 300 on a good release. And the plastic and rim shape seem to work well to help ensure that. Excellent review by the way. Most folks don't have your arm speed and so I think you are right that many will enjoy this disc. It's better than the Heat for me, which is often a bit more stable. The Impulse in Neutron is comparible. But the fact that Streamline is non gyro seems to mean less fade at the end of the flight. My Proton Virus is significantly more stable than the Shift and I attribute that to the gyro effect.
@KenPetri I'm glad the Shift is working well for you! And 50+mph is fantastic by the way! Thanks for sharing how it flies for you and compares to other discs 🫡
@@papajonn87 Throwing what works is definitely super important! Sometimes flight numbers aren't a good indicator of how a disc flies anyway. But understanding the flight numbers can definitely help a little when picking out new discs!
That's a great question, I haven't thrown the Freetail yet, but I'll have to give it a try when I have the chance! It does seem like it would have a pretty similar flight, with a touch more speed and even a little less stability.
It's extremely similar to the TSA Mantra, I think it's a little more understable, but it doesn't really want to burn over as much either (so long as you give it the height). I've been using it as pushing BH turnover shots, since it just seems to have a glide rating of like 8. It's hard to get this thing to not have a late fade, which for wooded courses like I have around me, it's a great slot to have in the bag. The mantra wants to flip more immediately, or have a lagging flip up to flat, where the Shift will go flat, then gently hold that turn forever. It's an extremely useful disc, but not a max distance disc, for me anyways. It's just an insanely useful tool to have.
I was throwing mine all over today on forehand and it didn’t flip or burn over at all, you might have a defective one or you gotta throw with more touch
@Leftyycheater89 I said at the beginning of the review that I was throwing pretty much full power shots to fully test what it can do, so you're right, I wasn't throwing with touch at all lol. I'll definitely say though, that the flight numbers were just about spot on in my opinion so I'd be surprised if mine was defective. Hope it's flying really well for you!
@SeaBear161 So how do you change your swing to lay down a roller? My only consistent success has been really flippy discs, and they tend to flip up too fast lol
@@bhirdietime I tend towards flippier discs thrown hard and low, with slight anhyzer. I'll line up a flat shot and focus on following through down towards my hip and that gets me the angle

@@billbittick Aw, thank you!! I'm really glad they're helpful and thorough!
@@bhirdietime is this similar to a Jackalope or Roadrunner or Heat? I’ve tried those but they don’t seem to turnover like the disc you were reviewing.

Picking up mine today! Can’t wait to use it tomorrow. 9/5/-3/1 type discs is one of my favorite kind of discs to throw.
@hiddenleaf414 Heck yeah! Let me know how it flies once you have a chance to throw it!
Thats awesome, going to grab one.

Thanks for the video! I just throw what works for me. I haven’t studied the numbers on the discs too much. I need to tho.

Definitely agree with Bhirdie, but since most discs are online, you need to know the basics it get a small idea what to expect.
8:28 that's about as soggy as a day can get ☠ I respect the grind, great review my man!

How does it compare to the Mint Freetail? Same manufacturer, same plastic, similar numbers.

@MichaelSweet-nn5bg Will do!
I've been using a Clash Millet for this slot. Looks very similar flight and super useful
My Millet does come out of the flip a bit better it seems.
@ScroDiddly I haven't thrown the Millet, but I like those flight numbers! The lower speed and 6 glide is a pretty sweet combo!

Legitimately a perfect roller disc too
I think you're right! I struggled to get good rollers out of it personally, but I rarely throw rollers so I wouldn't blame the disc lol
