Do bring wrap-ups back! It's so fun watching people talk about the books they're passionate about, the ones they loved and the ones they hated and even those that were just fine hhaha, it's also a great way to find new books and recommendations and a reason why my tbr is at around 550 books atm lol 📚

Leven Thumps....my childhood! I am obsessed with that series! It's about this war in this fantasy world called Foo, which is the realm of dreams. Leven Thumps is the chosen one; however, he's kinda useless because he knows nothing about Foo having been raised by his aunt in reality. Clover is a sycophant (basically like a mix between a house-elf and a cat) who has been assigned to Leven and carries around magical candy. Winter is a girl from Foo with cool ice powers who gets re-born into reality to help Leven. And Geth used to be incredibly powerful in Foo, but he got trapped as a tree when he came to the real world and got milled into a toothpick (or two. Yes, the most compelling character of this series is an angry toothpick.)
In all honesty, this series definitely feels like ATLA meets HP, but I would recommend it if you like both of those things.

I've got a couple of book recs and video ideas, but first: I'm reading House of Dragons which is good so far!
Book recs: Saint Death by Marcus Sedgwick if you want to feel something and Book by Robert Grudin if you like sentient footnotes and a mid-book Q&A with the author.
Video ideas: The first one is a reading challenge where you read some books from a Battle of the Books list. I did BoB all through middle and high school and thought you'd enjoy reading some of the books chosen. The second idea is for everyone to submit the craziest first lines of a book that they've heard. Jill Bearup did this on her RUclips channel and the results were hilarious!
I loved the video and I hope you have an amazing week!

I have the Billy Bookcases for my read books, and then I have 3 bracket hung shelves by my desk for my TBR. I find this really helps me stay organized with my books. I like having 2 areas for my books and that why I dont have to look through my bookshelves to find books that I havent read. Also, since the bracket hung shelves are much smaller.. it helps me not buy too many books. It forces me to read whats on my TBR and I know how many books I have to read before i buy more.

Hey. Wow. This was a ride and I’m all for it. Just a few things, when shopping second hand, please look out for foxing- a book mold. There is false information that it’s ‘just ageing’ so people dnt take it seriously. But no, I lost 80% of my book collection last year - over 150 books (I’m a big time second hand book buyer) and it spread to so many new books, and the older ones and a few rare books where unsalvageable. Minor foxing can be treated with clove bud oil. But it’s something I won’t shut up about because ppl still be selling books with mold on them. Makes me so angry .
Second, loved the on floor chill while building the shelf, had some relaxed and chill - less ‘on’ for the cam vibes. Was so nice. Would love to see more on floor and chat vids.
My thoughts on the shelf, might want to put felt fabric or velvet down on the shelves to prevent paper tearing when sliding the books in and out of the shelves.. (i could have worded that better sorry), as some paper is kinda thin. Is be so scared using it lol. But it looks pretty. Well done on building it.
    Thank you Jesse

Current reads: Just finished The Rabbit Hutch by Tess Gunty (physical book) and Got Your Number by Mike Greenberg and Paul Hembekides (audiobook); just started Shakespeare's Sonnets (physical book) and Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann (audiobook). I enjoyed The Rabbit Hutch, although the large cast of characters was at first a bit overwhelming, I like how it all tied together in the end. I highly recommend By the Numbers (a nonfiction book) to sports lovers. If We Were Villains is one of my favourite books. I will be curious to see what you think of it, especially when I agree with a lot of criticisms and negative reviews of it. But also there are plenty that I disagree with or don't think that was the point of the book. I have recently read The Complete Collection of Edgar Allan Poe, so it will be great to see your thought on those four short stories. Another edition I have is illustrated but by Harry Clarke, and it is called Tales of Mystery and Imagination. The Morella story and a particular illustration that introduced me to my drawing style. I may actually end up reading that after I finish Penny Dreadful's Sensational Tales of Terror.

I read the Sisters Grimm series recently (I hadn't read them when I was a kid), and I really liked them, especially the fairy-tale aspects. Book 3, _The Problem Child_ , was my favorite. There were some things that I found problematic, however (not "avoid this" problematic, but just "be aware of this" problematic). Namely, Sabrina is villainized constantly when she's either right or needs a little more sympathy given her situation, and then there's also Puck. Now, I love Puck, but the stories treat him in that unhealthy "boys will be boys" way (especially in relation to Sabrina) that was never properly addressed, especially in the long run. These things don't ruin the reading experience, but I wish they had been handled differently. This has been my unsolicited opinion. 😊

I also found Kappa very fun and interesting, but I must point out that there is a pretty sad/disturbing underlying fact that gives it a different dimension. The writer, Akutagawa, was apparently suffering from mental illness he believed he inherited from his mother. Therefore, the birth scene in the book is actually also sad... He also committed suicide shortly after this book was published. Hope i did not ruin the fun tho! I think there were some really memorable scenes in the book. I read it a good while ago but I can't get it out of my head.

Currently reading The Keeper of Enchanted Rooms by Charlie Holmberg (would recommend, v. cozy with a charming magic system) and Wrong Place, Wong Time by Gillian McAllister (I think there's an audience out there for this and I'm not it. This feels like something people who haven't read a lot of sci-fi/fantasy would find interesting, but for me it feels like the concept is kind of played out and I'm struggling to want to pick it up, even though it has super short pages).

I have Storygraph and Goodreads and Bookly which is probably too many, I keep Bookly and storygraph updated and then just update goodreads every few months all in one go, not on my phone though I do it on the PC it's quicker and easier to update that way.

I'm currently reading, or rather trying to read, The Book That Wouldn't Burn and I'm honestly struggling to get into it. I enjoy girl's POV chapters better but I'm not sure if it is for me. I'm still going to try and push through it, maybe it will get better.

I am currently reading a series of unfortunate events. On book six so far, The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, on chapter 7. ( this book has a lot of chapters within one chapter😂) and I would recommend both of these books
