I am an Ohio State alum - So was not biased on Colt. When we drafted him, I was leary on his abilities for the NFL. I have never been more happy to be wrong.
Garret will be the starter. He will have a very good season. Almost beating the tide will no doubt give him tremendous confidence. He is a winner and will take over a very good team. I think his trip back to the rose bowl will be his junior year. Their defense class this year will see playing time and by next year will bolster what already is one of the best d's in the nation. Its going to be allot of fun! Hook Em!!!
Ya know whats weird? I live close to Austin and i saw Colt and his wife at chick-fil-a. I saw him there and his wife is also the daughter of the principal of the school i use to go to! Its weird.
Okay, me being an Alabama fan. Colt is my 3rd favorite QB of all time! MeElory being 1. Sam Bradford. 2 And Colt 3. But i mean he is a AWESOME QB! And people saying he faked his injury? I seriously doubt it. Some people just need to grow up. Roll Tide.
It's kinda funny how Texas had such a good quarterback and the only thing their fans can remember him by was game he never played in... Give it up texas fans, it is what it is...
I'm just wonderin', whaddaya think of the tangerine crop this year? 'Cause, I love tangerines, and I wasn't espectin' to find too many of 'em when I went down to the food store this mornin'.
@Caseman33 I didn't think he did too much to Bama. Bama just went conservative when they shouldn't have. Now I won't deny that he is going to be an amazing playmaker in the future. Alot of freshmen had big nights. Bama's Trent Richardson tore right thru the Texas Defensive line on one of the TDs. Both teams have a lot of kids who are going to make money on Sundays if they want.
Colt wins with his arm and his legs. Probably one of the more well rounded passers in the league. very smart winner. Should have won the heisman and the championship. There was not another player that meant more to his team than Colt. Unfortunately that bit em in the big game. Freak hit. go figure. he is nothing but a winner and theres not a better role model either. Straight up good player/leader. Hook Em!
"But of course when you have excellent receivers, all you gotta do is throw the ball up and let them come down with it." You don't think that's oversimplifying the most difficult position in football?
both are good but extremely different. Although Colt can run, he prefers to pass (effectively too, he had 70% plus passing percentage) while Tim can pass, he prefers to run and unlike 99.9% quarterbacks, likes to lower a shoulder and hit. Advantage for Tim for having 2 rings and playing in a harder division (I say this because Big 12 is known for being defense friendly, where as the SECs defenses are closest thing to the NFL you can get) Colt is the better qb, Tim the better overall player.
Texas Tech, the flavor of the month... Dear Graham Harrelll, Soooo disappointed and REALLY shocked I won't be coming to stay with you. I expect that if you want to visit, you can come see me in Austin, or maybe Norman, Your pal, The Heisman
@hackist8286 the Browns and Broncos were also awful genius. Mccoy started 8 games, and his QB rating was two less than Bradford's for the season, and he did that while starting twice against the Steelers, and once against the Ravens, better defenses than any Bradford encountered last year. He also averaged more yards per attempt and had success running the ball, which Bradford did not. Tebow started 3 games, and had better passing stats than either of the other two, and also ran for 6 TDs
McCoy to stay for senior season By Suzanne Halliburton | Monday, December 8, 2008, 12:59 PM Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy will stay for his senior season. McCoy told the American-Statesman of his decision Monday. Im not going anywhere, McCoy said. McCoy said he wants to play for a national championship, after falling one spot short of the title game this season. Im coming back because we have a solid coaching staff,
@CDiddy51 but look at players like Sergio Kindle, Brian Duncan, Jamar Wall, Colby Whitlock how about pretty much the whole texas tech defense, and a whole lot more in the big 12 I'm not a texas fan at all but i still have to give Kindle some respect he's such a beast. The SECs good player on defense is like Arenas that plays for Alabama SEC is great at offense confrence
u mean the highlight reel they showed when he threw the interception after he came back from the injury? i like that one...bc u can see mccoy taking his straps off bc the play is over and then u see an aggie cheap shot him...i love how aggies have to resort to cheap shots to try to get ahead...but u know ur right, the only reason he is good is bc he has good recievers(sarcasm)
Colt McCoy still hasn't proven himself. He needs to play against a team with a good Defense. Once he plays against teams like Penn St. or Michigan or Michigan St. or Wisconsin or Minnesota or Nothwestern or Iowa or Indiana or Illinois or Ohio St. Then, and only then will we see if he has the goods. Playing in a Weak Conference makes one look better than they really are. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he is good enough to play in the BIG 10, but he should have the chance to play us.
hey guys gilbert might not be good but we got a badass back up Case McCoy o ya colt mccoys little bro also we are getting jaxon shipley jordon shipleys little brother and also malcolm brown
hell yeah man, tech aint got shit for a team this year nor will they ever.....i just have a feeling that TEXAS will win National this year. HOOK'EM HORNS!!!!
I think the simple fact that he did not win the heisman twice, and was injured during his only championship game will turn out to be a stroke of luck in the NFL. We've all seen national champion, heisman winners do poorly, or become nothing special once in the pros, so something tells me luck will come his way.
Hard to say. Honestly I think its pretty equivalent. Big Ten has a prestigious school in Michigan which has always had great college players (on the exception for the past couple years) but a good amount of the guys from big 10 haven't done anything really in the past few years in the NFL. Vernon Gholston is a good size bust for now. Henne and Hart went in draft but nothing yet (Although Henne might be future starter) Manningham got drafted but again hasn't done anything. SEC has size and speed.
oh gee, thanks for that concrete explanation grounded in cold hard fact. i will concede the point that the one unnecessary roughness penalty where the ou player was trying to keep mccoy up was bogus. but thats football, shit happens and you get over it. also, im not really sure why you felt it necessary to capitalize so many two letter words...
@hgad123 , hey we're talking about him as a freshman, a freshman. i didn't say anything about a junior? Yeah he beat us by 3 as a junior. and we had a freshman quarterback, you get your shit straight buddy.
ya but they did win the oklahoma game and if that texas guy would have intercepted the pass from graham harrell in the last 2min of the game texas would have won the ball was throwin right into his hands but i really dont care not to big of a texas fan myself but i do like big 12 so go sooners!
@1usc2 u dont kno how bad it was he couldnt even throw an 8 yrd pass in the locker room..let alone accuratly..his arm was numb and limp..u cant throw like that...
I think Tebow will get drafted to a crappy team sadly (like the Jags/Rams/Browns) if he moves into the top 10 (and will turn into a bust), while Colt goes in the top 20, and flourishes under a team with a better situated o-line, and a somewhat established WR core like the 49ers, Redskins, or Vikings. (My money says Colt will be a 49er.)
im pretty sure refs cant put 45 points on the board. and i suppose 8 consecutive seasons with at least 10 wins is overrated too. really well thought out comment though, great job.
@MatikVGP I don't jump on bandwagons smart one, I've been rooting for Texas even before they won against USC in 2006. And my account name shows how arrogant and naive I am? Wow, you really think I'll have something like I love OU? It's pretty obvious that any Texas fan would say Ou Sucks. Even if they beat us we still lead the all-time series. Technically it would take them what 15 years? to catch up.
McCoy chokes against teams with a good defense... Tell me what game was he OUTSTANDING in, given difficult defenses? He proved that he can't play well against a good D with OU and NU in the Big 12 Championship. If he wins the heisman, then it'll be a downright fail.
Big 12 might be weak this year, and SEC is strong, i'll give you that, but what about pac 10? What about USC, Boise State, Cincinnati, Iowa? Why are all of those teams ranked top 10 BCS even though they're garbage, we at least played against teams in the top 15 BCS.
@MrRollTideRoll22 I just lol'd. I like how he can't play real football, but you nearly lost to the freshman QB in the Championship Game. What if he HAD played? That's all I'm saying.
@MrRollTideRoll22 and tell me, is your so called qb macelroy any better? did he fucking pass for over 50 yards that game? no, they relied on your run game because thats all bama has
hey Texas fans, remember when Ndamukong Suh ripped the Heisman trophy away from McCoy in the 2010 Big 12 Championship game? McCoy learned who Daddy was. Go Big Red!
texas would be going to national championship and colt would have got the heisman if that dam texas defense guy forget what position he played but he missed a interception that was in his hands in the last couple of minutes of the tech game or....... pushing crabtree out of bounds on that last touchdown tech would of had another play with 1-2 yrds to go with 1 sec or somthin prob. would score but maybe not McCOY GOT ROBBBBBED!!!! but i do agree he isnt going to make a good nfl qb
@SuperMegaDew Bradford has done nothing in the NFL yet. He played in by far the worst division in the league and didn't put up a winning record. McCoy was just as effective when healthy, against better teams. Tebow's played three games. You don't judge careers after 1 season. Check back in 5 years and then maybe you can make a statement like that without coming off as ignorant.
@hackist8286 and I was right... as I said, Mccoy and Tebow were just as good when they played, and on worse teams. he played against the weakest schedule in the league and they went 7-9... He won offensive rookie of the year, yes. But last time I checked QBs are judged on what they win and he hasn't had a winning record or made the playoffs yet. And seeing as his stats were pedestrian at best, yeah he's done nothing in the NFL yet. he's had marginally more success than McCoy and Tebow, so far.
@miketc25 dude, that game was a complete joke. Yet again you barley beat us in the horseshoe. 24-7. Texas has only beat us by a combined 6 points, congrats. You didn't answer the athletic graduation rate question yet? What is it for the mighty t.u?
lol and i believe it was colt usin the sooners for target practice. 45- 35 ring a bell or did you forget about that after all those bowls yall didnt win.
Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU,you people get it? The best football is played in Texas. Enough said.
I am an Ohio State alum - So was not biased on Colt. When we drafted him, I was leary on his abilities for the NFL. I have never been more happy to be wrong.
thanks man. i really value your opinion on this matter.
colt mccoy we still love u even doe u let us down n the bcs national championship greatest qb besides young that ever came from texas
Garret will be the starter. He will have a very good season. Almost beating the tide will no doubt give him tremendous confidence. He is a winner and will take over a very good team. I'm an aggie myself (wait, keep reading) but its ALWAYS sad when a player gets hurt. no matter what team.
well if you noticed i wasn't talking about football but since you mentioned that A&M will be better in football next year and for many years to come
I'm just wonderin', whaddaya think of the tangerine crop this year? 'Cause, I love tangerines, and I wasn't espectin' to find too many of 'em when I went down to the food store this mornin'.

you can judge the red river shoot out.. its a rivalry game and ofcourse itll be close no matter whos better
that game was good Texas longers vs Texas am

@hunter0cr But Daddy was still sitting at home when it was time for a BCS bowl
nobody messes with colt mccoy. EXCEPT texas tech's defense
cute smiley face.
haha. you know. youre probably right. i am an ass. im just mad that hes not the qb for my team.
@tram7128 you got that right >:) but is it just me or does McCoy always get hurt? oh well Hook em horns!!!
what big 12 team has colt mccoy never beatin?
Wait til texas runs across a defense like Florida or Alabama in the bcs champions
oh gee, thanks for that concrete explanation grounded in cold hard fact. i will concede the point that the one unnecessary roughness penalty where the ou player was trying to keep mccoy up was bogus. but thats football, shit happens and you get over it.
also, im not really sure why you felt it necessary to capitalize so many two letter words...
potential g.o.a.t in the making.. TEXAS FIGHT!
did someone just say the big 10 is more competitive than the big 12
haha give me a break.
Well after the whistle was blown, I might add. I'd love to see anybody walk away from that kind of cheap shot without at least being shaken up.
@hgad123 , hey we're talking about him as a freshman, a freshman. i didn't say anything about a junior? Yeah he beat us by 3 as a junior. and we had a freshman quarterback, you get your shit straight buddy.
except he took 1 hit and couldnt play the rest of the Rose Bowl. Real tough guy.

go longhorns
@iAlphaGunz 6 points is more like 1 score in football talk.
That was Tennessee not Texas
@thecornpops09 cincinnati would've played instead of tcu anyway. they have the higher bcs ranking
Every other city's residents of other states should be welcomed in Texas except Los Angeles or you'll be written off as a trespasser.
@hurricanelogan > > LOL ... and he was the entire team ... Not " Love it!
@FLAthlete didn't troy smith kind of disappear after getting manhandled in the championship?
im pretty sure refs cant put 45 points on the board. and i suppose 8 consecutive seasons with at least 10 wins is overrated too. really well thought out comment though, great job.
wut th hell... ya he does
@xKLUTCHKILLAx ha, texas sucked so bad this year. i felt bad for them :0
@MatikVGP I don't jump on bandwagons smart one, I've been rooting for Texas even before they won against USC in 2006. And my account name shows how arrogant and naive I am? Yep, glad there's a "barely won" category in the standings.
But seriously, yeah, that was a cheap hit. That's coming from an Ag, too
Texas shouldnt mess with Kstate
Roll Tide Roll ...
Ya colt was great his freshman year. Oh wait, didn't he lose to Ohio State 24-7?
well, if he's leading in rushing, then thats pretty sad b/c he's not a running QB.

Colt is the man. Mad skills....I'm also a QB in TX (8th grade). Check out my video and let me know what you think: QB Brian Sutter

@sheegan8 coming off as ignorant? you just said Sam Bradford has done nothing lol
@xKLUTCHKILLAx you had way to many ...'s
sucks enough to be ranked #3 in the BCS standings?
@SuperMegaDew Bradford has done nothing in the NFL yet. He played in by far the worst division in the league and didn't put up a winning record. @CDiddy51 SEC hits harder than Big 12 ROFLOL Big 12 hits much harder that SEC i don't think you watch football. But WRECK EM' TECH!

@mrorangebastard Texas owns Nebraska. especially a mighty 5-7 Texas of 2010
@miketc25 dude, that game was a complete joke. Yet again you barley beat us in the horseshoe. 24-7. Texas has only beat us by a combined 6 points, congrats. You didn't answer the athletic graduation rate question yet? What is it for the mighty t.u?
LOOK AT TEXAS RECORD AND LOOK AT BAMAS NUFF SAID and im not a bama fan
lol and i believe it was colt usin the sooners for target practice. 45- 35 ring a bell or did you forget about that after all those bowls yall didnt win.
SUH OWNS MCCOY
colt mccoy can beat tech oklahoma missouri oklahoma state but cant beat a&m
